One adult female specimen of the Sandfish Skink (Scincus scincus conirostris) was collected in southeastern Iran during fieldwork on 20 January 2009. Interestingly, the new locality of the species is situated approximately 700 km east of the nearest previously known locality. This record indicates a larger distribution of Scincus scincus conirostris on the Iranian plateau than previously known. Information on morphological characters and habitat are presented herein.

The Toad-headed agama, Phrynocephalus mystaceus Pallas 1776, was described in 1999 from eastern Khorasan by Anderson. Seven specimen of The Toad-headed agama were collected in Khar Turan National Park during fieldwork from June 2008 to June 2009. The new locality of the species is situated about 900 km west of the type locality. This record indicates a wider distribution of Phrynocephalus mystaceus on the Iranian plateau than previously thought. Information on morphological characters and habitat is presented.

A new record of Plectropomus pessuliferus (Serranidae: Epinephelinae) wasdocumented based on morphological characters and DNA barcoding. The species was collectedduring a regular survey for making an inventory of reef associated fishes in Saint Martin`sIsland, Bangladesh. This is the first report of roving coral grouper from the marine waters ofBangladesh validated by morpho-meristic analysis and DNA barcoding. This is also the firstreport from the northern Bay of Bengal.

This paper reports on ten species of laelapid mites associated with ants and bumblebees in Western Siberia. Androlaelaps myrmecophilus (Evans & Till), Cosmolaelaps dendrophilus (Davydova), C. neocuneifer (Evans & Till), C. siberiensis Joharchi sp. nov., Gaeolaelaps praesternalis (Willmann), Holostaspis isotricha Kolenati, H. montana (Berlese) and H. oophilus (Wasmann) were collected from ants’ nests, and Pneumolaelaps hyatti (Evans & Till), P. marginepilosa (Sellnick) on bumblebees. The new species is described and illustrated based on morphological characters of the adult female.

This paper presents ten species of eight genera and four families (Ameroseiidae, Ascidae, Blattisociidae, Laelapidae) of soil-inhabiting mesostigmatic mites in Kazakhstan. Eight of them are species that are recorded for the first time in Kazakhstan: Ameroseius corbiculus (Sowerby, 1806), Antennoseius (Vitzthumia) oudemansi (Thor, 1930), Cosmolaelaps lutegiensis (Shcherbak, 1971), C. markewitschi (Pirianyk, 1959), Gaeolaelaps nolli (Karg, 1962), Laelaspis astronomicus (Koch, 1839), Lasioseius ometes (Oudemans, 1903), and Pseudoparasitus missouriensis (Ewing, 1909). In addition, Gaeolaelaps kanati Joharchi & Issakova sp. nov. is described from Kazakhstan, based on morphological characters of the adult female.

Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) oswaldoi (Peryassú, 1922) comprises a species complex in South America. To fully characterize other taxa within the Oswaldoi Complex, it is essential to fix the identity of the nominotypical member. Given that the no type was designated in the original description, a lectotype is formally designated from the remaining syntypes in the Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro. These and other recently collected specimens from the type locality (Espírito Santo, Brazil) and the State of São Paulo, Brazil were used to redescribe the species using morphological characters of the adult female, male and male genitalia, and the fourth-instar larva and pupa. The larva, pupa, and male genitalia are illustrated. Diagnostic morphological characters of the adult female and male genitalia are provided to distinguish An. oswaldoi s.s. from the morphologically similar An. konderi, An. galvaoi, and An. ininii. DNA sequence data from the second nuclear internal transcribed spacer region (ITS2) are included to fix the molecular identity of An. oswaldoi s.s.

A new species and a new record species of xanthid crabs collected from shallow subtidal hard bottoms of Taiwanese waters are described in the present study. Garthasia ludaoensis n. sp. represents the second species for the genus and can be readily distinguished from the type species, G. americana (Garth, 1939), by having: 1) smaller width to length ratio of the carapace; 2) larger width to length ratio of the third maxilliped; 3) smaller width to length ratio of merus of the third maxilliped; 4) no distinct longitudinal keel on surfaces of sternites 1 and 2; 5) smaller length to width ratio of merus of the last ambulatory leg; 6) smaller width to length ratio of pleonite 2 of the male abdomen; 7) pleonite 2 in semicircular-shaped; 8) a tuft of long setae near distal opening of G1; and 9) distal end of basal segment without upright protrusion of G2. This genus is reported for the first time from Taiwan, as well as from the West Pacific. The second xanthid crab specimen examined in the present study has live colour pattern of the carapace and morphological characters similar to that of Zosimus maculatus (de Man, 1887) described from Ambon, Indonesia (about 3.7° S). The present finding extends the northern distribution range of this species to near 22° N and represents a new record of this species for Taiwan.

On the 15th April 2017, one female specimen of the greater weever, Trachinus draco measuring 44.69 cm in total length and weighting 885 g was captured by trammel net in Oran Bay (Cape Rousseau) at 120 m depth. Up to date, this length is a new record of maximum length reached for this trachinidae for Algerian waters and the second maximum length recorded in Mediterranean basin according to Fischer et al., 1987 observation noted at 45 cm.

Based on the combination of molecular and morphological data, we herein report the second known finding of the xenodermid snake species Parafimbrios vietnamensis Ziegler, Ngo, Pham, Nguyen, Le & Nguyen, 2018. The male individual was found in the Yen Bai Province of northwestern Vietnam, more than 200 km from the type locality in Lai Chau Province. Genetic divergence between the newly-collected male and the holotype was low (1.7%), and is in agreement with morphological data that supports that they are conspecific. We give a detailed description of the morphological characters and coloration of the new record and provide an expanded diagnosis of P. vietnamensis. Parafimbrios is a poorly-understood genus, and our recent discovery brings the total number of known specimens of the genus to nine, 1/3 of them having been found in Vietnam (one specimen of P. lao and now two specimens of P. vietnamensis).

Introduction: The genus Massinium includes 11 species, most from the Indo Pacific Ocean, and had not previously being reported from the American continent. Objective: To present the new record of the genus Massinium and describe a new species of this genus. Methods: Material collection was done by SCUBA-diving to depths of a maximum of 9 m. Results: Massinium ocumichoensis sp. nov. is described from seven specimens that extends the range of the genus to the American continent (Guerrero, Michoacan and Jalisco, Mexico). The new species lives in sandy-rocky substrata, from 2 to 16 m deep. It is distinguished from its congeneric species by a combination of morphological characters: mid-dorsal slightly bigger pseudobuttons (40-60 μm), and tables in the body wall. A taxonomic key for distinguishing the species of Massinium is provided. Conclusions: The geographic range of the genus Massinium is extended to the Mexican Pacific with M. ocumichoensis sp. nov.
