The work is devoted to the creation of a test bench for a gear pump with options for adjusting the parameters: operating fluid temperature, engine speed, pump load. An experimental study of the effect of hydraulic oil temperature on the characteristics of a gear pump has been made. An analytical dependence is proposed to determine the characteristic of a gear pump with regard to the temperature and pressure of the hydraulic oil.

This article presents a methodology for predicting the fluid dynamic behavior of a gear pump over its operating range. Complete pump parameterization was carried out through standard tests, and these parameters were used to create a bond graph model to simulate the behavior of the unit. This model was experimentally validated under working conditions in field tests. To carry this out, the pump was used to drive the auxiliary movements of a drilling machine, and the experimental data were compared with a simulation of the volumetric behavior under the same conditions. This paper aims to describe a method for characterizing any hydrostatic pump as a “black box” model predicting its behavior in any operating condition. The novelty of this method is based on the correspondence between the variation of the parameters and the internal changes of the unit when working in real conditions, that is, outside a test bench.

This paper studies problematic of a mechanical system composed of different coupled parts submitted to a high speed shock and proposes analysis of anti vibratory passive and active methods based on an experimental and theoretical coupled approach. After a shock, different parts of the system oscillate. If one of them is excited at a particular frequency, such as its proper frequency, important oscillations appear and can lead to the deterioration of the system by introducing important stresses. In this paper, we propose an analysis in order to understand this kind of problem and what we can do to avoid it. Firstly, we discuss problematic and we expose the studied system. In a second time, we develop two approaches of modeling that allow us to understand the phenomenon by carrying out numerical simulations. Then cross checking of model is completed via experimental study on drop test bench. Passive minimization method of vibrations based on experimental and theoretical coupled approach is exposed. Finally, a comparative analysis of different methods of control and experimental results of controlled system are presented.

Aus Schwerzerspanung und Turbinenschaufelfertigung ist bekannt, dass Werkzeuge aus dem Spannfutter ausgezogen werden. Die veränderte Werkzeugposition führt zur Abweichung von den vorgegebenen Toleranzen und einer geringeren Fertigungsqualität oder Beschädigung des Werkstücks. Der Artikel untersucht das Auszugsverhalten verschiedener Spannfutter. Mit einem Prüfstand können die Einflüsse der mechanischen Belastung und der Klemmlänge auf die Haltekraft im Pressverband betrachtet und die Wirkmechanismen beim Auszug des Werkzeuges aus dem Spannfutter sensorisch ermittelt werden.   From heavy-duty cutting and turbine blade manufacturing it is known that tools pull out from chucks. A change in tool position leads to deviations from tolerance and decreases manufacturing quality or damages the workpiece. This article explores the extension behavior of different chucks on a specifically designed test bench. This allows determining how mechanical load and clamping length influence the holding force in the press fit and what mechanisms of action affect the extraction of the tool from the chuck.

In this paper, a series of closed-loop system identification tests was performed for a variable valve timing cam phaser system on a test bench to obtain a family of linear models for an array of engine speeds and oil pressures. Using engine speed and oil pressure as the system parameters, the family of linear models was translated into a linear parameter varying (LPV) system. The engine speed and oil pressure can be measured in real-time by these sensors equipped on the engine, thus allowing their use as scheduling parameters. An observer-based gain-scheduling controller for the obtained LPV system is then designed based on the numerically efficient convex optimization or linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique. Test bench results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

AbstractThere is great variation in whether foreign sounds in loanwords are adapted or retained. Importantly, the retention of foreign sounds can lead to a sound change in the language. We propose that social factors influence the likelihood of loanword sound adaptation, and use this case to introduce a novel experimental paradigm for studying language change that captures the role of social factors. Specifically, we show that the relative prestige of the donor language in the loanword’s semantic domain influences the rate of sound adaptation. We further show that speakers adapt to the performance of their ‘community', and that this adaptation leads to the creation of a norm. The results of this study are thus the first to show an effect of social factors on loanword sound adaptation in an experimental setting. Moreover, they open up a new domain of experimentally studying language change in a manner that integrates social factors.

A description is given of a computer program for investigating the performance of the external gear pumps under varying conditions with the special emphasis on the examination of pressure distributions within the pump, i.e. excitation forces for the vibration of the pump case and the variation in flow generated by the pump. Measurements are presented for the variation with time of tooth space pressure and the results are compared with the theoretical predictions from the computer program.
