The article presents the results of research of hematological blood of rats under the influence of the drug «Leykozav» against bovine leukemia. Experienced animal drug «Leykozav» introduce twice at an interval of 14 days at 0.5 cm3.Before the introduction and after the introduction of studied hematologic parameters: the number of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets and their indices, the hemoglobin content.According to the research found that the number of red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit values are reduced to within statistical error, and no adverse effects on the health of laboratory animals.The introduction of the drug «Leykozav» rats did not cause any significant changes in terms of platelet indices in the blood of animals on the seventh day after the inoculation.The decrease number of segmented neutrophils and increase in the number of lymphocytes in the blood unit volume (1 at 14 and 30 days after inoculation (r < 0.05 – 0.01) increase the number of monocytes and 1,6 times at 30 days after immunization (r < 0,05) compared to before vaccination period.Influenced «Leykozav» preparation two weeks after immunization animals increases the amount of blood basophils (2 – 2,5 mkl). Compared with the control group of animals of the experimental group of blood eosinophils of rats indices are within physiological norms.

The aim of the study is to increase the productive qualities of broiler chickens by including ultrafine silicon oxide into main diet. During the experiment, the biological effect of ultrafine silicon oxide on broiler chickens was estab-lished. Use of ultrafine SiO2 particles for poultry feeding contributed to an increase in the number of red blood cells and content of total protein and albumins. By the end of the experiment, the number of red blood cells in birds in-creased by 17.43% (P≤0.001) – in the blood of birds of the first experimental group, 16.51% (P≤0.01) – the second one, 20.80% (P≤0.001) – the third experimental and 21.71% (P≤0.001) – the fourth experimental group, compared with the indicator of the control group. The amount of total protein in blood serum of chickens of the first and the second experimental groups increased by 1.36-1.39 %, in the third and fourth ones there was a significant (P≤0.05) increase by 5.45 and 3.05%, respectively. The blood glucose content of chickens in the experimental groups is higher by 8.04-23.65% compared to this indicator with ones in the control group. During the experiment feed con-sumption per 1 kg gain of live weight decreased: in the first experimental group by 3.00 % in the second by – 0.50 %, the third – 6.00 % the fourth– by 4.50 %, compared to this with the control group. The chicken’s vibrancy of the first the experimental group was higher by 4.77 %, the second – by 6.20 %, the third – by 19.25 % and the fourth– by 11.59% than in the control one. Consequently, when converting the feed energy into the body energy of a broiler chicken, the energy conversion coefficient of the experimental group of poultry is higher than that of the control one by 7.16-21.76 %. Thus, the most optimal dose for further research was determined.

Background and Aim: In recent decades, the use of various feed supplements is the current trend in poultry farming, among which phytogenics serve as alternatives to feed antibiotics. This study aimed to examine the effect of feeding various doses of milk thistle extract (Silybum marianum) on the morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood in broiler chickens. Materials and Methods: Experiments were carried out in an industrial poultry farm on broiler chickens of the Hubbard ISA F15 cross for 40 days. One control group and five experimental groups of day-old chickens were formed. The number of birds in each group was 50. Broilers of all groups received complete feed, and the experimental groups received an additional milk thistle extract at doses of 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mg/kg of body weight. Milk thistle medicinal plant extract was obtained using water-ethanol extraction followed by low-temperature vacuum drying. For the assessment of blood analyses, samples were collected from the wing vein of six chickens per group. Using unified methods recommended by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry, the content of red blood cells, hemoglobin, white blood cells, total protein, protein fractions, triglycerides, glucose, calcium, phosphorus, and the concentration of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in the blood serum were determined. Results: It was found that the introduction of milk thistle extract into the diet of broiler chickens with the aforementioned doses increased the number of red blood cells, hemoglobin, white blood cells in the blood, as well as a decrease in the level of albumin and an increase in the content of γ-globulins in its serum. Conclusion: The authors assume that the introduction of milk thistle extract into a complete feed for broiler chickens increased the anabolic processes in their bodies, accompanied by increased use of proteins of the albumin fraction as the main material for organogenesis.

Objective: To assess miR-155’s effect on aplastic anemia (AA) rats. Methods: In the present study, the healthy rats (control group) and AA rats including AA rats with miR-155 overexpression (experimental group I) and those with miR-155 deficiency (experimental group II), were selected. The levels of miR-155, STAT3 (a key gene in STAT3 signaling pathway) and phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3) in control group and experimental group were detected via qPCR and Western blotting. Moreover, the number of white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells (RBCs), platelets (PLTs) and hemoglobin (HGB) level were also measured. Results: The level of miR-155 in AA rats was significantly declined compared with that in healthy rats (p < 0.05). STAT3 mRNA level was significantly declined in AA rats with miR-155 overexpression compared with that in AA rats with miR-155 deficiency (p < 0.05). STAT3 and p-STAT3 protein expression in AA rats with miR-155 overexpression were significantly lower than those in AA rats with miR-155 deficiency (p < 0.05). Besides, it was found that the number of WBC, RBC, PLT and HGB level were significantly elevated in AA rats with miR-155 overexpression compared to those in AA rats with miR-155 deficiency (p < 0.05). Conclusion: miR-155 can improve the AA symptoms of rats through inhibiting the STAT3 signaling pathway.

Tartrazine is a synthetic organic azo dye widely used in food and pharmaceutical products. The current study aimed to evaluate the possible adverse effect of this coloring food additive on renal and hepatic structures and functions. Also, the genotoxic potential of tartrazine on white blood cells was investigated using comet assay. Twenty adult male Wistar rats were grouped into two groups of 10 each, control- and tartrazine-treated groups. The control group was administered orally with water alone. The experimental group was administered orally with tartrazine (7.5 mg/kg, b.wt.). Our results showed a marked increase in the levels of ALT, AST, ALP, urea, uric acid, creatinine, MDA and NO, and a decreased level of total antioxidants in the serum of rats dosed with tartrazine compared to controls. On the other hand, administration of tartrazine was associated with severe histopathological and cellular alterations of rat liver and kidney tissues and induced DNA damage in leucocytes as detected by comet assay. Taken together, the results showed that tartrazine intake may lead to adverse health effects.

Abstract Adaptation mechanisms as response to water content, oxygen level and pollutants are very important and they can be interpreted by hematological analysis. The aim of this study was the analysis of hematological and immune adaptations of common carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) to thermal stress. All specimens were divided into a control and experimental group. The control group of fish was exposed to a constant water temperature of 10°C. We induced thermal stress in experimental fish by gradually heating water to 28°C, held for 30 minutes and then comparing the obtained results with the control fish. Short-term hyperthermia lead to an increase of the number of leukocytes, especially pseudoeosinophilic granulocytes and monocytes, while the number of neutrophils and lymphocytes was reduced. The analysis of the leukocyte number and differential blood count in the control group showed high individual variation of segmented granulocytes, monocytes and pseudoeosinophilic granulocytes. Statistically significant differences (p=0.00) were found for the white blood cells, nonsegmented neutrophils and pseudoeosinophils between the control and experimental group. The experimental group of males had an increased number of white blood cells, monocytes and pseudoeosinophils, where significant differences were found for nonsegmented and total neutrophils and also for pseudoeosinophils (p=0.00), lymphocytes (p=0.01) and monocytes (p=0.03). Females had an increased total number of white blood cells, lymphocytes, monocytes and pseudoeosinophils, while significant differences (p=0.00) were obtained in the number of white blood cells, nonsegmented and total neutrophils and pseudoeosinophils between the control and experimental group. Adaptation mechanisms in carp after water temperature heating are mostly reflected in the increase of pseudoeosinophils and the decrease of neutrophils.

Background: Anemia of chronic disease (ACD) occurs in the presence of chronic infection, inflammatory conditions or neoplastic conditions despite of adequate iron and vitamins storage. Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gingiva, periodontitis is the inflammation in the periodontium that extend deeper with loss of connective tissue attachment and supporting bone. The main pathogenesis of periodontal diseases and ACD is immune activation. Aims of study: Determine and compare the clinical periodontal parameters (plaque index (PLI), gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing pocket depth (PPD) and clinical attachment level (CAL)). Evaluate the hematocrit (Hct) level, red blood cells (RBCs) count and white blood cells (WBCs) count. Assess the correlations between the clinical periodontal parameters and hematological parameters at patients had gingivitis, chronic periodontitis (CP) with different severities (mild, moderate and severe) with healthy periodontium subjects. Materials and Methods: 35-50 years old, 150 male subjects were included in this study. They were divided into three study groups: group of 30 patients with gingivitis, group of 90 patients with CP which subdivided into (Mild CP=30 patients, Moderate CP =30 patients, Severe CP =30 patients) and control group 30 subjects with clinically healthy periodontium. Blood samples were collected then by automated blood analyzer the Hct, RBCs and WBCs were evaluated. Results: Comparisons among groups and subgroups revealed significant differences in Hct and WBCs, while RBCs was non-significant. Means values of RBCs count showed reduction in mild and severe CP subgroups. while, the Hct and WBCs mean values increased in patients with periodontal disease. The correlations between the clinical periodontal parameters with WBCs and RBCs were almost non-significant but, with Hct was mostly significant negative correlations. Conclusion: Inflammatory and immune responses in periodontal diseases caused change in different hematologic parameters which could contribute to the development of anemia of chronic disease.

The present study investigated Haematological changes in Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi, as well as determination genotoxic effects of cadmium chloride on bunni fish by using 120 fingerlings, fish were distributed randomly into four treatments in addition to control group. Fish in first group treated (T1) with cadmium 0.093mg/L with changing water and added cadmium continuously, fish in the second group treated (T2) with cadmium 0.093mg/L with changing water without adding cadmium, third treatment (T3) with cadmium 0.046mg/L with changing water and adding cadmium continuously, and fourth treatment (T4) with cadmium 0.046mg/L with changing water without adding cadmium. Results of blood picture in T1 and T3 showed a significant reduction in red blood cells count, hemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume values, while the number of white blood cells showed a significant increase in its values. Results showed presence of improvement of clinical and microscopical signs and blood picture in T2 and T4, were changed water aquarium continuously and added cadmium only once compared withT1 and T3. Results of the present study concluded that changing water aquarium in the treatments without adding cadmium led to improvement of health status of fish which increased with the passage of time results of blood picture were almost the same of the control group. It could be concluded from the current study that the adding of cadmium to water aquarium containing bunni fish led to decrease in red blood cells count, hemoglobin and packed cell volume values and increase in micronuclei number.

Abstract Objective and background: Perinatal asphyxia is a serious medical condition in which there is lack of oxygen or blood flow during, or even after the labor process. So, this study aimed to study serum blood levels of Lactate, vitamin D and count of nucleated Red Blood Cells (nRBCs) per 100 White Blood Cells (WBCs) as early biological predictors of Hypoxic–Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) after birth Asphyxia.Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted on 20 neonates with HIE comprising the cases (APGAR ≤ 5) and another 20 neonates representing the control group with their age, sex, and weight matched, admitted to NICU from March 2020 to the end of September 2020 at Menoufia University Hospital and El-Bagour Central Hospital, Egypt. Venous blood samples for lactate, vitamin D and nucleated RBCs were drawn during 1st 6h of birth and sent for analysis. Sarnat score was used to assess the severity of HIE.Results: Venous blood levels of lactate and nucleated Red Blood Cells per 100 White Blood Cells (nRBC/100 WBC) counts were significantly higher in HIE neonates than in the control group with a highly significant difference (P-value < 0.001). While serum Vitamin D was significantly lower in the HIE group than in the control (P-value < 0.001).Conclusion: Serum lactate level, vitamin D level and nRBCs/100 WBCs might be used as biomarkers in the early prediction of HIE.

The use of water with a modified isotopic composition in the diet of humans and animals, for example, with a reduced deuterium content, affects the rate of biological processes. In this regard, the targeted formation of the isotopic D / H gradient in the body can be used to increase its adaptive properties to external influences. Primates have a high anatomical and physiological similarity with humans, therefore, are an indispensable model for reproducing various pathological and toxic conditions in humans. The aim of the study was to study the effect of water with a low deuterium content on the hematological and biochemical blood parameters of rhesus monkeys and on the digestibility of nutrients of the diet. In the control group, primates consumed water with a natural regional content of deuterium equal to 150 mg / l, and in the experimental group - with reduced to 50 mg/l. The duration of the experiment was 35 days. The material for the study was venous blood, serum and feces of primates. Blood was drawn from monkeys before the use of deuterium depleted water and after the completion of the experiment. All blood samples (2.5-3.0 ml) were taken from the cubital or femoral veins of animals on an empty stomach and stabilized with a heparin solution. Laboratory studies of animal blood were performed on an automatic hematological analyzer (Beckman Coulter, USA) of the CoulterAcT 5diffCP brand. In order to study the effect of water with a reduced deuterium content on hematological parameters, we determined the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, the average volume of red blood cells, red blood cell anisocytosis, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). The metabolism trial was divided into two periods. Preliminary - to exclude the influence of previous feeding and accustoming primates to cage conditions of keeping. Experimental - conducting a thorough accounting of consumed feed, excreted excrement. Feces were collected daily at the same time (morning and evening), weighed and ground in a mortar. At each collection, 50% of the homogenized mass was taken for analysis. The collected portions were stored in the refrigerator. After the end of the experimental (accounting) period in the collected feces, the initial moisture was determined by drying at 60-70 ℃ to constant weight. The resulting air-dry mass was thoroughly ground and analyzed. It has been found that the introduction of water with a reduced deuterium content into the diet of primates has a positive effect on feed conversion rate and blood biochemical parameters.

Renal anemia is one of the most common complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in cats, which significantly reduces their life quality. Most often, the mechanism of renal anemia development is associated with insufficiency of endogenous erythropoietin (EPO), or with a reduction in the life of red blood cells caused by uremic intoxication. Since anemia increases the severity of renal hypertension and other CKD symptoms, the search for effective drugs that can stimulate erythropoiesis in CKD and do not have nephrotoxic properties is particularly relevant. The aim of the work was to study the effectiveness of Gamavit in the treatment regimen for cats with CKD compared with the standard treatment protocol. Active ingredients of Gamavit are sodium nucleinate and denaturated placenta extract. The study included 20 cats of different breeds aged from 5 to 16 years with CKD stage III-IV according to the IRIS classification, accompanied by anemia and a decrease in hematocrit in the range from 25 to 16%. Patients were randomly divided into 2 equal groups - control (n=10) and experimental (n=10) using the block randomization method. In the control group a standard nephroprotective therapy regimen was used. In the experimental group Gamavit was added to the standard regimen. Gamavit was administered at a dose of 0.5 ml/kg 1 time per day, at the same time, during 14 consecutive days (7 days i/v and 7 days s/c). The conditions for feeding and keeping animals of the experimental and control groups were identical. For feeding, we used a standardized serial diet ― Purina CatChow Adult with chicken/turkey/salmon. Access to drinking water ― ad libitum. The initial number of red blood cells, as well as the hematocrit index and hemoglobin level in the experimental and control groups were at the lower limit of the norm or below the reference values. During the study, in the experimental group of the patients, these indicators returned to normal after 2 weeks, while in the control group there were no significant changes. The statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups remained until the end of the observation (p=0.001). Levels of creatinine and urea in the blood serum of the patients of both groups consistently high throughout the study, but in the experimental group a significant decrease in these indicators was found. The initial level of EPO in both groups was significantly lower than in healthy cats. During the experiment, it was not possible to reach the lower limit of the normal value, which allows us to conclude that the stimulation of erythropoiesis indicators in the experimental group, observed under the influence of Gamavit, is not associated with the stimulation of endogenous EPO production. Thus, the study revealed that Gamavit stimulates erythropoiesis in cats with CKD stage III-IV, significantly increasing the number of red blood cells, and the levels of hematocrit and hemoglobin. This effect, combined with a decrease in uremic intoxication values (creatinine and urea levels), lead to an improvement in the general condition of patients and regression in a number of important clinical manifestations. Since no nephrotoxic effects and undesirable interactions with drugs of standard nephroprotective therapy were detected in the process of this study, Gamavit can be recommended for widespread use in cats as one of the pathogenetic, symptomatic, and therapeutic and prophylactic drugs in the complex therapy of CKD at the preclinical and clinical stages of the disease.
