The article discusses the publishing activities of statistical institutions in Western Siberia in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries. Selected and systematized groups of publications. The first group of publications was presented by “Reports”, “Protocols” and “Journals” of meetings of statistical accounting centers; the second is the “Reviews”, which were attached to the Governor’s annual, all-submitted report; the third group- "Provincial and regional statements"; the fourth is “Memorable Books”; fifth - scientific periodicals; the sixth one is separate independent publications on branches of statistical accounting of the region.

The article discusses some major challenges in editing articles and abstracts with a political focus in English in Bulgarian scientific periodicals. It happens that many of the terms in articles and abstracts that deal with issues affecting legislation in the European Union (EU) are not standardized or codified, as some phenomena have not existed in the language so far. The specific "Eurojargon" used by policymakers easily finds a place in articles and abstracts on the European Union. Sometimes, due to lack of time, journalists use phrases that are adopted by the Brussels administration without thinking about clarifying them to listeners and readers, and perhaps without fully understanding them themselves. Many institutions are aware that such a "European" language is widening the gap between the institutions in Brussels and the citizens of Europe. Due to the complex language of the EU, more and more often the editor, as well as the citizen, finds themselves in a situation where they are clearly aware that communication is impossible. Addressing these challenges could be supported not only through official documents translated into our native language but also through conferences, round tables, discussions on the topic and various government initiatives to fund projects with the inevitable assistance of professionals and linguists in the field of mass communications.

PURPOSE: To investigate the relevance of the term superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) and demonstrate that this term is important enough to be added to the MeSH database and listed in International Anatomical Nomenclature. METHODS: Terms related to SMAS were selected from original articles retrieved from the ISI Web of Science and MEDLINE (PubMed) databases. Groups of terms were created to define a search strategy with high-sensitivity and restricted to scientific periodicals devoted to plastic surgery. This study included articles between January 1996 and May 2009, whose titles, abstracts, and keywords were searched for SMAS-related terms and all occurrences were recorded. RESULTS: A total of 126 original articles were retrieved from the main periodicals related to plastic surgery in the referred databases. Of these articles, 51.6% had SMAS-related terms in the abstract only, and 25.4% had SMAS-related terms in both the title and abstract. The term 'superficial musculoaponeurotic system' was present as a keyword in 19.8% of the articles. The most frequent terms were 'SMAS' (71.4%) and superficial musculoaponeurotic system (62.7%). CONCLUSION: The term SMAS refers to a structure relevant enough to start a discussion about indexing it as a keyword and as an official term in Terminologia Anatomica: International Anatomical Terminology.

The application of polymers as a tool in the crystallization process is gaining more and more interest among the scientific community. According to Web of Science statistics the number of papers dealing with “Polymer induced crystallization” increased from 2 in 1990 to 436 in 2020, and for “Polymer controlled crystallization”—from 4 in 1990 to 344 in 2020. This is clear evidence that both topics are vivid, attractive and intensively investigated nowadays. Efficient control of crystallization and crystal properties still represents a bottleneck in the manufacturing of crystalline materials ranging from pigments, antiscalants, nanoporous materials and pharmaceuticals to semiconductor particles. However, a rapid development in precise and reliable measuring methods and techniques would enable one to better describe phenomena involved, to formulate theoretical models, and probably most importantly, to develop practical indications for how to appropriately lead many important processes in the industry. It is clearly visible at the first glance through a number of representative papers in the area, that many of them are preoccupied with the testing and production of pharmaceuticals, while the rest are addressed to new crystalline materials, renewable energy, water and wastewater technology and other branches of industry where the crystallization process takes place. In this work, authors gathered and briefly discuss over 100 papers, published in leading scientific periodicals, devoted to the influence of polymers on crystallizing solutions.
