Be to, jis teigia, jog Husserlis šį santykį interpretuoja pripažindamas intencionalios formos pirmenybę. Transformation of the Notion of Sensibility in Contemporary PhenomenologyDalius JonkusSummaryThe question about transcendence in the contemporary phenomenology is related to the conception of sensibility. Michel Henry and Emanuel Levinas from one side and Aron Gurwitsch and Maurice Merleau-Ponty from the other side have totaly different understandings of sensibility. Analysing sensibility, Husserl elaborates a distinction between hyletic data and animating noesis. He claims that, from one side, hyle itself means nothing without intentional morfe, and, from the other side, the intuitive presentation of an object arises only on the basis of experienced complex of sensations. Michel Henry finds striking contrast between material and intentional phenomenology. He states that without pure impressions intentional phenomenology is impossible. According to him, Husserl gives preference to the intentional morfe and leaves behind the pure impression of sensuous hyletic data. Michel Henry’s task is to rehabilitate material phenomenology, he stresses that sensuous data keeps the secret of primal experience. This turn to material phenomenology rehabilitates „immanence of life“ and creates new form of empiricism. Aron Gurwitsch criticizes construction of hyle-morfe distinction. He claims that descriptive analysis of direct experience fails to ascertain such an intermediary stratum. Also phenomenological description demonstrates that sensibility is not a mediator between immanence and transcendence, but the domain of interaction between senses which create consciousness of meaning. My purpose is to show that this refutation of the hyle in general has important consequences. Phenomenology gives not only a redefinition of the concepts of noesis and intentionality, but also reforms the concept of time. Keywords: hyletic data, intentional morfe, sensibility, phenomenology.

SYNOPSIS We provide a comprehensive analysis of special items and the characteristics of the firms that recognize them. Our analysis reveals that the temporal frequency, magnitude, and persistence of special items has increased significantly in the last 30 years, and that such increases are primarily driven by negative special items. More recently, however, our evidence is consistent with both a decline in frequency and magnitude of negative special items. On the other hand, we find that the frequency of reporting of positive special items, which remained relatively constant through 2002, has increased in more recent years. We also find strong evidence that subsequent special item reporting is an increasing function of the frequency of “prior” special item reporting. Using a random subsample of firms reporting special items, we document that 22 percent of the amounts reported in Compustat do not reconcile with the amounts reported on the firms' actual financial statements. Our comprehensive analysis should be of interest to regulators, academics, and managers interested in the implications of special items on firm-related consequences such as future earnings and firm value. Our examination can also serve as a catalyst for researchers interested in extending this important area of inquiry.

How to respond justly to the dangers persistent violent offenders present is a vexing moral and legal issue. On the one hand, we wish to reduce predation; on the other, we want to treat predators fairly. The central theme of this paper is that it is difficult to achieve both goals without compromising one of them, and that both are being seriously undermined. I begin by explaining the legal theory, doctrine and practice governing dangerous offenders (DO) and demonstrate that the law leaves a gap in the ability to confine them. Next I explore the means by which the law has overtly or covertly sought to fill the gap. Many of these measures, especially the new form of civil commitment for sexual predators, dangerously conflate moral and medical categories. I conclude that pure preventive detention is more common than we usually assume, but that this practice violates fundamental assumptions concerning liberty under the American constitutional regime.

We studied the capacity of four “normal” and six lung transplant subjects to entrain neural respiratory activity to mechanical ventilation. Two transplant subjects were studied during wakefulness and demonstrated entrainment indistinguishable from that of normal awake subjects. We studied four normal subjects and four lung transplant subjects during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. Normal subjects entrained to mechanical ventilation over a range of ventilator frequencies that were within ±3–5 breaths of the spontaneous respiratory rate of each subject. After lung transplantation, during which the vagi were cut, subjects did demonstrate entrainment during NREM sleep; however, entrainment only occurred at ventilator frequencies at or above each subject's spontaneous respiratory rate, and entrainment was less effective. We conclude that there is no absolute requirement for vagal feedback to induce entrainment in subjects, which is in striking contrast to anesthetized animals in which vagotomy uniformly abolishes entrainment. On the other hand, vagal feedback clearly enhances the fidelity of entrainment and extends the range of mechanical frequencies over which entrainment can occur.

A new species of Tomoptema, T. krugerensis, sp. n., has been recorded from the Kruger National Park, Republic of South Africa.Morphologically it is very similar to T. delalandei cryptotis (Boulenger) but the mating call is markedly different from that of the other members of the genus and this is coupled with small but consistent morphological differences.T. krugerensis sp. n. is known to occur only on a portion of the western fringe of the vast sandveld areas of Mozambique, but possibly has a much wider distribution. Mating call, calling behaviour, eggs, early development and defence mechanisms are described. The affinities of the new form are discussed and the mating calls of other members of the genus are reviewed. Mating call is again shown to be a sensitive non-morphological taxonomic tool.

The Southern of Thailand citizens are known as the plural society that possesses various different religions. Even though the citizens are from multi-religious society, the majority of them are Muslims and followed by the Buddhists. It is a continuous issue for the religious believers in the Southern of Thailand in communicating with the other religious believers. Their interaction process is always accompanied by the suspicion and doubt among each other. Among the concepts of harmonious living in a religious pluralism society, openness attitude is the most important basic concept. It plays the significant role as a tool to form a good relationship among people. Therefore, this study is meant to scrutinize to which extent the religious teaching that teaches on the religious harmonious of life influence its believers in interpreting it to an openness attitude in their daily interaction. This study utilised two main methods namely the qualitative and the quantitative approaches. The results from the descriptive analysis depict that most of religious believers in the Southern of Thailand possess the openness attitude in interacting with the other believers at a good level as 40.02% of them agreed, and 30.96% of them strongly agreed on the issue. Hence, the findings have convinced the study that majority of the citizens in the Southern of Thailand are highly motivated to live harmoniously. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that there are some of the religious believers failed to practice the openness attitude when interacting with the other believers, so it is a must to identify the causes in order to offer the best solution for it.

Abstract. The main objective of this research was to learn and analyze the inclusion of dance activities in Preschool teaching practices from the perspective of teachers. Participants (N=105) were teachers who teach at the second cycle of Preschool Education in schools from the Region of Murcia (Spain). An ad hoc questionnaire was designed for the collection of data, and descriptive analysis was subsequently applied. The results reflect that specialists of Preschool Education from the Region of Murcia include dance activities in their planning and teaching practices. Likewise, they consider them fundamental for the integral development of students, who respond in a positive and active way to this type of activities. On the other hand, they call the attention on the need to improve both teacher training with respect to these subjects and the quality and quantity of resources to carry them properly into practice.

The khilafah ideology is an ideology that is often interpreted as a fairly radical ideology. Generally, the ideology of the khilafah highlights political issues that are contrary to Islamic law. However, the Khilafah ideology also highlights social issues, namely LGBT. LGBT is a controversial issue globally. While the khilafah ideology is a concept that is contrary to the Indonesian state. The Indonesian government has banned the spread of the khilafah ideology. But its existence is still present in a new form such as a bulletin called KAFFAH. This study aims to describe how LGBT is represented in the perspective of khilafah. The data of this study is a KAFFAH bulletin article, 025 editions, which released on January 26, 2018. Furthermore, the data were analyzed qualitatively by descriptive analysis methods. This study uses the Transitivity theory approach as a theory which states that language is a representation of human experience. The Transitivity focuses on three components; process, participants, and circumstance. Based on the description of Transitivity, LGBT is not only represented as a social problem but also as an implication of the absence of laws that originate from Islamic law which can explicitly ensnare LGBT.

Partisans hold unfavorable views of media they associate with the other party. They also avoid out-party news sources. We link these developments and argue that, absent direct experience, partisans assess out-party media based off negative and inaccurate stereotypes. This means cross-cutting exposure that challenges these misperceptions can improve assessments of out-party media. To support this argument, we use survey-linked web browsing data to show the public has hostile views of out-party news sources they rarely encounter. We conduct three survey experiments that demonstrate cross-cutting exposure to non-political or neutral political coverage – forms of news widely available from partisan sources online – reduces oppositional media hostility. These findings explain how perceptions of rampant bias from out-party media coexist with modest differences in the online content major partisan news outlets provide. More broadly, we illustrate how negative misperceptions can sustain animus towards an out-group when individuals avoid direct encounters with them.

While personalized learning environments often include systems that automatically adapt to inferred learner needs, other forms of personalized learning exist. One form involves the use of personal analytics in which the learner obtains and analyzes data about himself/herself. More known in informatics communities, there is potential for use of personal analytics for design of instruction. This chapter provides two cases of personal analytics learning explorations to demonstrate their range and potential. One case is of a high school student examining how sleep influences her mood. The other case is of a sixth-grade class of students examining how deviations from typical walking behavior change distributional shape in plotted step data. Both cases show how social support and direct experience with data correction are intimately involved in how youth can learn through personal analytics activities.
