The aim of our study was to describe the psychometric properties of the structure of a questionnaire designed to assess the difficulties experienced by pre-service teachers during their pedagogical practice. The study involved 110 pre-service teachers (university students): 96 women and 14 men, with a mean age of 24,28 years (SD = 5,03). Based on our previous research, a set of 20 items was developed asking students to rate their experience on a five-point scale. The hierarchical items cluster analysis algorithm ICLUST was used to test the psychometric characteristics of the questionnaire structure. The analysis was performed according to Revelle’s guidelines. Due to the ordinal nature of items, the cluster analysis was performed on the basis of a polychoric correlation matrix. The statistical analysis was carried out using the psych package in R. The reliability of the clusters was assessed taking into account Cronbach’s alpha and Revelle’s beta indicators. Cluster fit, pattern fit, and RMSR were selected as model fit indicators. Two models were developed: the seven-cluster model and two-cluster model. The seven-cluster model consisted of the following clusters: search and selection of material (K1; α = 0,75, β = 0,75), selection of teaching methods (K10; α = 0,77, β = 0,69), classroom management (K13; α = 0,81, β = 0,72), lack of subject and pedagogical knowledge (K3; α = 0,67, β = 0,67), emotions (K4; α = 0,75, β = 0,75), time management (K12; α = 0,70, β = 0,62), and organizational difficulties (K11; α = 0,66, β = 0,60). The two-cluster model consisted of the following clusters: search and selection of material (K1; α = 0,75, β = 0,75) and general difficulties (K18; α = 0,85, β =0,75). Combining 20 items into seven clusters allowed to achieve the best psychometric characteristics of the questionnaire and to reliably assess the difficulties experienced by pre-service teachers during their pedagogical practice. The characteristics of the two-cluster model were satisfactory, and the 18-items general difficulty scale of this model can be chosen as an alternative to calculate the overall estimate of the difficulties experienced by pre-service teachers during their pedagogical practice.

Introduction Adequate motor coordination (MC) of the lower limbs is essential for most of the motor tasks. Therefore, it is important to know the psychometric properties of the tests employed to assess lower limb MC, so that professionals could have a better basis to choose the most adequate assessment tools. Objectives To investigate the psychometric properties and clinical utility of instruments used to assess lower limb MC, by means of a critical review of the literature. Materials and methods A search was conducted in six databases looking for studies which evaluated reliability, validity, sensitivity to changes, or clinical utility of the tests employed to assess lower limb MC. The articles were assessed and the data of their psychometric properties were extracted by two researchers, independently. Results The search returned 1361 studies, 1,325 were excluded after analyses. The hand search yielded four eligible articles, totaling nine included articles. The included studies evaluated the psychometric properties of eight tests, but only three were specific to assess lower limb MC and the others were sub-items of other scales, which assess other domains. None of the tests provided data for all of the basic psychometric properties. Final remarks According to the results of this review, none of the tests had their basic psychometric properties reported, which is necessary to be investigated in future studies. This review may facilitate the search and selection of lower limb MC tests by researchers and clinicians.

AbstractA basic problem of cluster analysis is the determination or selection of the number of clusters evinced in any set of data. We address this issue with multinomial data using Akaike’s information criterion and demonstrate its utility in identifying an appropriate number of clusters of tumor types with similar profiles of cell surface antigens.

This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Personality Belief Questionnaire – Short Form (PBQ-SF). A sample of 700 college students answered to the Brazilian version of the PBQ-SF. The results showed good estimates of reliability (Cronbach’s alpha) of the PBQ-SF scales, indicating a significant association between the beliefs of each of the scales. The results of factor analysis of the PBQ-SF were similar to its original version. Overall, the findings provide support for the existence of factorial validity for the Brazilian version of the PBQ-SF, suggesting that it is a practical tool for the measurement of dysfunctional beliefs related to personality disorders

The problem of determining the repair sections of the main oil pipeline is solved, basing on the classification of images using distance functions and the clustering principle, The criteria characterizing the cluster are determined by certain given values, based on a comparison with which the defect is assigned to a given cluster, procedures for the redistribution of defects in cluster zones are provided, and the cluster zones parameters are being changed. Calculations are demonstrating the range of defect density variation depending on pipeline sections and the universal capabilities of linear objects configuration with arbitrary density, provided by cluster analysis.

The Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) was designed to measure two independent or orthogonal dimensions of mood. The present study concerned selected psychometric characteristics of the schedule in a convenience sample of 237 Australian adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. The results were generally supportive of the schedule's reported psychometric properties and for its use across age and nationality.

After many decades of romantic relationship research, there is a new focus on a multidimensional model of love. This empirical study examines the multidimensionality and psychometrics of Passionate and Companionate love, based on an extensive study of 413 participants using Multidimensional Love Scale (MLS). A new statistical approach employed in this study explores the typology and structure of love. The statistical approach included the combination of Two-Step Cluster Analysis of cases and Principle Component Analysis of dimensions while using centered variable scores. The results reveal a typology of love based on its multidimensional structure. Further analysis revealed two main types of love: Passionate and Companionate, both containing several factors allowing for interpretation of their multidimensional structures. The MLS subscales and detailed psychometric analysis measuring specific love dimensions are incorporated to allow further research in other studies.

The attempt to expand the traditional academic ideas about diagnostics in social work has been made, in particular the selection of social diagnostic methods, the purposes of their application, professional situations and focus groups in which these methods can be applied.The research determines the opportunities of application social diagnostics in pedagogical practice, to identify the optimal methods of social diagnostics and the conditions in which it is advisable to apply this type of diagnostic by professional participants of the educational process.Other methods have been proposed in addition to the classic list of social diagnostic methods, such as interlocution, interviews and surveys of all types; they are unpopular in modern social and socio-pedagogical work, but due to their accessibility, validity, ease of processing and in formativeness can be used even by recent graduates. These include a genogram, a family sociogram, as well as an eco-map, the map of social environment and the map of social contacts.The viability of applying social diagnostic methods in a teacher’s daily practice for preventing, revealing and solving social problems has been determined.During the investigation, the author concludes that social diagnostic is the most significant technique among many universal ones that a social worker/social pedagogue can use in his/her work. The optimal location for diagnostic work is an educational institution. It provides quick access to the client base with the widest range, allows you to work with clients in the system of social relations, enables diagnostic work with less motivational pressure, covers relationships with parents/families and facilitates their involvement in preventive work

This research is to examine the students‘motivational factors and attitude towards the learning ofEnglish grammar in a Computer-supported LearningSystem. Twenty-nine students were taught with astudent-centered approach and three grammar learningweb sites were used frequently for classroom andindividual English grammar practice, whereas anothertwenty-nine were taught with the traditional teachercenteredapproach. Both groups were given grammarcorrection and explanation tests before and after thestudy. After comparing the results of the pre-test andpost-test with those of the control group, it was foundthat the experimental group excelled over the controlgroup in both grammar correction and grammarexplanation. It proved that students‘ implicit andexplicit knowledge on English grammar was greatlyimproved by the computer-supported teaching methodsand environment. Further interviews with the studentsalso revealed that the new pedagogical practice hadprovided many positive motivational factors insupporting students‘ learning process.Keywords: motivation, grammar, computer-supportedclassroom.

The industrial application of lipolytic enzymes has been studied mainly due to the ability of these enzymes in catalyze reactions of synthesis and their stability in various organic solvents. One possibility is the use of lipase the organic synthesis, taking advantage as the generation of waste and difficult recovery of sub bioproducts. In this work, we carried out a selection of eighty-four isolates of Bacillus amazonian for lipase production, of which 30 strains showed lipolytic activity. The study of the culture conditions was performed through a Plackett-Burman experimental design using the strain that presented the highest lipolytic activity in a culture medium using glycerol as substrate.  The studied conditions were: concentration of soybean oil, olive oil, triton X-100, gum arabic, glycerol, and (NH4)2SO4, pH, temperature and concentration of inoculums. The best result obtained were 27 U/L in 48 h of cultivation by Bacillus circulans BL53. This work shows that the search and selection of microorganism with lipolytic activities can facilitate the discovery of new lipases, with potential use as by-product surplus.
