Abstract Many nurses, patients, and families continue to believe that physical activity increases the risk of falling. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that residents who are exposed to Function Focused Care for Assisted Living (FFC-AL-EIT) and engage in moderate levels of physical activity would not be more likely to fall. This was a secondary data analysis using data from the first two cohorts of the FFC-AL-EIT study. The study included 508 residents the majority of whom were female (70%), white (97%), with a mean age of 87.72 (SD=7.47). Those who engaged in more moderate intensity physical activity were 1% less likely to fall (b = -.01, Wald =6.13, p =.01). There was no association between exposure to function focused care and falling (Beta =.41, Wald =2.35, p=.13). Further, engaging in moderate level physical activity was noted to be slightly protective of falling.

Abstract Regardless of presenting symptoms, there are concerns that BPSD is more often identified in males versus females and males are more likely to be treated with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions than females. In part this is due to the behaviors in men, specifically aggression, being more distressing for staff and more difficult to manage. The purpose of this study was to test for gender differences in identification and management of BPSD. This was a secondary data analysis using data from the EIT-4-BPSD study including 357 residents, 114 males and 243 females. Men had more aggressive behavior (p=.03) and women more refusal of care (p=.05) and repetitive verbal behavior (p=.03). Men received more mood stabilizers (p=.02) than women. Ongoing research is needed to evaluate if aggression in females may not be recognized or treated as aggressive women are less distressing for staff than these same behaviors in males.

Firm value is dependent on corporate which leads to increased value. High valued firms attract more investors. Towards firm value protection, minimum capital requirements were raised by the Central Bank of Kenya from 250 million to 1 billion shillings on commercial banks to cushion bank shareholders value. Despite the increased oversight and regulatory efforts on corporate governance to protect and enhance firm value, some commercial banks have recorded low firm value. Hence, this study sought to investigate the mediating effect of financial performance on the relationship between corporate governance and firm value of commercial banks in Kenya. The study was anchored on Agency Theory. Explanatory research design was adopted. Target population was forty four Kenyan commercial banks, where a census was conducted. Secondary data was collected from published financial statements and bank websites for the period 2009 to 2018. STATA version 13.0 was used for data analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistics specifically panel regression was used in data analysis. The study findings established that there is a statistically significant effect between financial performance and firm value of commercial banks in Kenya. Therefore, the study concluded that firms with good financial performance have high firm value. And as such, these calls for the management of the commercial banks improve financial performance which will go a long way in improving firm value. There is also need for Central bank of Kenya, Capital Markets Authority and Nairobi Securities Exchange to emphasis on corporate governance and short term goals to enable achievement of long term goals .

Primary data was collected using questionnaires while the secondary data was collected using data collection sheets from the firms as well as from the Nairobi Securities Exchange and CMA records. The particular inferential statistic was regression and correlation analysis. Panel data methodology was employed using a multivariate regression model to test the hypotheses and link the variables. Results: The findings revealed that interest rate has a positive and significant relationship with ROA, ROE and EPS. In addition, the findings from the interaction of the independent variables and the interest rate revealed that interest rate moderate the effect of financial performance of agricultural firms listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommends that financial institutions and banks in Kenya should assess their clients which include agricultural firms listed in NSE while setting up interest rates policies, as ineffective interest rate policies can increase the level of interest rates and consequently cost of borrowing and negate financial performance of the borrowing firms. The study also recommends that the Central Bank should apply stringent regulations on interest rates charged by financial institutions so as to regulate their interest rate spread.
