Background: Antacids are the most commonly used medications for fast symptomatic relief of gastric disorders. Because of adverse effects, low efficiency and the high cost of some chemical antacids, identifying a natural medicine with high efficiency and low cost seems useful. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to prepare antacid tablets from Cuttlefish bone and assessment of its antacid properties. Methods: 24 different formulations of cuttlefish bone were prepared by direct compression using different fillers (starch, cellulose, lactose, and mixture of those) in different ratios of the drug. Characterization of powders and tablets was done on all formulations and marketed dosage forms (calcium carbonate and Al-Mg). Results: Weight uniformity, hardness, and friability of all formulations were in acceptable range. Tablets prepared by calcined cuttlebone disintegrated in longer time due to their higher hardness which were mostly higher than 5 Kg. Also, disintegration time of formulations 50-50 (lower dose of cuttlebone) was less than other tablets (2 minutes or less). Results of antacid capacity showed that formulations 90-10 and 80-20 raise the acidic pH of the medium above 7.5, which were the same as or more than the capacity of the marketed tablets.

The gas sealing performance of electronic sphygmomanometer is an important index of its quality control. At present, the gas leak detection of sphygmomanometer is mainly by manual, which has disadvantages of low efficiency and precision, huge impact of human factors and so on. An automatic and high precision gas sealing performance inspection module is proposed in the paper, which solves the problems of pressure calibration and gas leak detection of sphygmomanometer products. The paper also introduces the principle and implementation of system project. The module is designed by STC12C5A single-chip, KPM DC air pump and the pressure sensor of E8CC, which has advantages of high precision, high efficiency, low cost, and flexible operation etc.

Abstract Orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) are dosage forms which disintegrate in mouth within seconds without need of water. This type of quality in dosage form can be attained by addition of different varieties of excipients. Pharmaburst™ 500 is a co-processed excipient system which allows rapid disintegration and low adhesion to punches. The aim of the present study was to develop and evaluate 25 mg diclofenac sodium ODTs (orodispersible tablets) batches by direct compression method at different compression forces 10 kN (F1) and 20 kN (F2) and directly compressible excipients used in different ratio (Avicel PH 102, magnesium stearate and coprocessed excipient Pharmaburst™ 500, 70% and 80% w/w). The obtained batches were analyzed for appearance, tablet thickness, uniformity of weight, hardness, friability, disintegration time, and non-compendial methods (wetting time). Co-processed Pharmaburst™ 500 excipient 70% used for sodium diclofenac ODT obtaining determined good results for quality control tests evaluation.

Oral route is the most favoured and preferred route for the administration for most of the dosage forms because it offers so many advantages over other routes of administration. Sometimes the oral route is associated with a problem called dysphagia. This condition can be seen in a population of paediatric, geriatric, patients with neurological problems, bedridden patients and so on. In order to overcome such a problem orodispersible tablets will be a better choice, because it will disintegrate within seconds when comes in contact with saliva. Natural agents offers so many advantages like nontoxic, easy availability, low cost, biocompatible and biodegradable in nature over synthetic agents. This superdisintegrants will cause the increase in drug release and decrease the disintegration time. This natural superdisintegrants will be a good option for the preparation of ODTs. Keywords: orodispersible tablets, natural superdisintegrants, advantages, dysphagia .

Polysaccharide biopolymers are biomacromolecules derived from renewable resources with versatile functions including thickening, crosslinking, adsorption, etc. Possessing high efficiency and low cost, they have brought wide applications in all phases of petroleum recovery, from well drilling to wastewater treatment. The biopolymers are generally utilized as additives of fluids or plugging agents, to correct the fluid properties that affect the performance and cost of petroleum recovery. This review focuses on both the characteristics of biopolymers and their utilization in the petroleum recovery process. Research on the synthesis and characterization of polymers, as well as controlling their structures through modification, aims to develop novel recipes of biopolymer treatment with new application realms. The influences of biopolymer in many petroleum recovery cases were also evaluated to permit establishing the correlations between their physicochemical properties and performances. As their performance is heavily affected by the local environment, screening and testing polymers under controlled conditions is the necessary step to guarantee the efficiency and safety of biopolymer treatments.

Solar energy is an attractive renewable energy source across the globe that can help overcome the energy crises and has the ability to replace conventional resources. Hybrid solar cells have higher conversion efficiency. In the current chapter the research related to the carbon nanotubes, organic and inorganic solar cell, dye-sensitized solar cells and tandem solar cells are reviewed. The organic solar cells are most suitable and economic, but it has low efficiency of up to 15%. The inorganic solar cells are very expensive and have high efficiency of up to 46% and are used in space applications. The hybrid solar cell is the third type and the perovskite tandem has already proven to be quite efficient (17%) and low cost, mostly because of the cheap materials that are being used.

Objective: This present study was aimed to evaluate the potential of chitosan succinate as a coating polymer. Methods: In this study, chemical modification of chitosan was performed by substituting a succinate group into chitosan’s amine group. This reactionused a water-solvent method to obtain chitosan succinate. Chitosan succinate was characterized and used as a coating agent in enteric-coated tabletdosage forms containing sodium diclofenac as the drug model at concentrations of 3% and 4% and combined it with hydroxypropyl methylcellulosephthalate (HPMCP) in ratios of 3:1 and 2:1 (3%). The obtained tablets were evaluated based on their physical appearance, uniformity of weight andsize, thickness film, disintegration time for an hour in acid, and dissolution profile. Results: Although the enteric-coated tablets with 3% and 4% chitosan succinate dissolved after 1 h in acid, they could not hold drug release in theacid medium under 10%. The enteric-coated tablet combined with chitosan succinate and HPMCP (3:1 and 2:1) at 3% did not dissolve after 1 h in theacid medium and could hold drug release up to 8.53% in acid. Conclusion: A combination of chitosan succinate and HPMCP (3:1 and 2:1) at 3% has a better ability to hold drug release in acid medium and met therequirement as a coating in enteric-coated tablet dosage forms.
