The Church

The purpose of this expository word is to demonstrate the need for churches to participate in public theology with integrity as partners in the dialog about societal issues. Within the framework of authority and responsibility, the author attempts to establish the Church’s unique position as a truth-teller, using her experience as a local parish pastor and community leader. Looking at Scripture as a role model for policy and action, this work lifts up the conviction of the primitive Church in its role as both witness and hero. Within the concert of voices in the world, the Church has to find its own voice to speak truth to power, and honor its calling by expressing its beliefs and behaving accordingly. Some of the main emerging themes in this article include secular vs divinely inspired authority, integrity as the quality of having only one identity and position, which is both private and public, and truth-telling as the ultimate action of faith and hope. This article will contribute to the extensive amount of literature that addresses the role of the Church in public life and encourage leaders to exert their authority based on the integrity of their convictions, actions, and words.

Declaration 1990-2015 MDG's 4 and 5 points in Indonesia fail due to a decrease in maternal and infant mortality rate is not reached until three quarters. Sumuri District, in West Papua is one of the area that maternal and infant mortality rates high, althought free health care for its residents. This paper wants to explore how the interaction between modern medicine and local medicine so the dominant health care in the community will be identified. Ethnographic study by living together with the local community to make the observation of the patient's health centers, community leader interviews, adult population, health workers and mini Focus Group Discussion among 4 mothers who has under 5 years old children conducted in June 2014. Government, oil and gas companies are aggressively introducing modern medical to the residents of SumuriDistrict, as a result communities have high interest to visit the health center for treatment and natural healing tends to disappear. New health institutions such as health centers, integrated health, midwives, nurses, physicians are able to shift the role of traditional birth attendants, traditional healer or traditional medicine. As a result of social relations within the extended family was replaced by a stronger role of midwives, nurses and doctors. However, the older generation tends to be more suitable with traditional healing compare to modern medicine.

Abstract. Child marriages as well as the prosession are happen due to the role of both ulama (the Islamic leaders) and the community leaders. This paper aimed at exploring the perception of ulama and the community leaders in line with the factors of child marriage as well as the minimum age of marriage. The descriptive qualitative were implemented in this study. Meanwhile, the data were gathered by conducting observation, interview, and documentation. The first finding of the study is in line with the factors of child marriages. The educational background of the parents and the children, economic factors, cultural factors, and the uncontrolled relationship among teens were regarded to influence the child marriage in Pamekasan. Second, the ulama and the community leader argued that the child marriage should be avoided because it determine the life of the spouse after marriage. It must be considered that marriage is a time to realize the happy family (sakinah). Therefore, maturation is important in attempt to mentally and economically prepare for the marriage. Also, the limitation of marriage is not merely about the minimum age, but also the preoparation and the in-depth understanding of the spouse. Third, there is no clear statement in Alquran regard to the minimum age of marriage. Alquran stated akil baligh as the requirement. Meanwhile, the marriage law stated that minimum age for man is 19 years old and 16 years old for woman. In child protection laws, the minimum age for both man and woman are 18 years old. Abstrak. Perkawinan Anak dapat terjadi karena peran serta dari para ulama atau tokoh masyarakat, begitu pula prosesi perkawinan dengan restu keduanya. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan ulama dan tokoh masyarakat Kabupaten Pamekasan dalam terwujudnya perkawinan anak serta pendapat tentang batasan usia perkawinan. Metode penelitian mengunakan pendekatan kualitatif (qualitative approach) dan metode deskriptif, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Ada beberapa temuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pertama Perkawinan anak masih saja terjadi diwilayah Kabupaten Pamekasan, hal ini dilatar belakangi beberapa faktor, yaitu faktor rendahnya pendidikan baik dari orang tua maupun anak, tidak adanya aktifitas atau kegiatan karena selepas dari pesantren atau MA mereka menganggur, faktor ekonomi, faktor budaya atau tradisi, dan faktor pergaulan bebas; kedua Para ulama dan tokoh masyarakat berpendapat bahwa perkawinan anak harus dihindarikarena berdampak pada kelangsungan rumah tangga yang tentunya pasca perkawinan adalah waktu yang panjang untuk mewujudkan rumah tangga yang sakinah. Pendewasaan perkawinan penting karena untuk mempersiapkan mental dan ekonomi dalam sebuah perkawinan. Batasan perkawinan tidak hanya sekedar usia namun persiapan dan pemahaman hak dan kewajiban bagi pasangan yang harus matang. Ketiga Batasan usia pernikahan dalam Al Qur’an dan hadis tidak secara jelas disebutkan hanya menjelaskan akil baliq, sedangkan dalam Undang- Undang Perkawinan usia 19 tahun bagi laki-laki dan 16 tahun bagi perempuan. Dalam UU Perlindungan ana laki-laki dan perempuan sama yaitu 18 tahun ke atas.

Migration has resulted in specialist community public health nurses (SCPHN), specifically SCPHN school nurses, encountering female genital mutilation (FGM) more commonly in practice, requiring them to upskill to offer support and raise awareness ( Robinson, 2011 ). A policy was critically analysed, and a literature review conducted, to identify evidence-based strategies to enable the SCPHNSN to effectively raise FGM awareness to school-aged pupils. The findings highlighted three themes – Education, cultural influence and community leader and FGM survivor engagement, which translated into practice as a SCPHNSN-led FGM education project ( Diop and Askew, 2009 , Adeniran et al. 2015 , Galukande et al. 2015 , Raible et al. 2017 , Connelly et al. 2018 , Johnson et al. 2018 ). A project such as this would enable the SCPHNSN to raise pupil awareness, increase knowledge of support services, achieving practice decline over time.

An operational definition of the clinical syndrome of specific reading disability is proposed. Its clinical symptomatology is described, with emphasis on the invariably present emotional concomitants. A scheme for differential diagnosis is outlined. Theories of etiology and the evidence on which they rest are briefly reviewed. The basis for a treatment plan is provided. Throughout, emphasis is placed on the role of the pediatrician, both as a key figure in early diagnosis and prompt treatment, and as community leader in the development of adequate educational resources for the non-reader. There is even reason to believe that methods for the early detection and rehabilitation of children with reading disorders may make a significant contribution to the problem of juvenile delinquency. The high rate of reading disability among delinquents suggests that at least some of the poor motivation for academic achievement among these children, and their reactive antisocial behavior, may have one source in the repeated experience of frustration and failure that accompanies their reading difficulty.

A theory of the creative project—the underexamined, nonroutine trajectory for getting new things done—is the focus of this chapter. First, the chapter draws on insights from pragmatist philosophy with respect to the interplay of routine and nonroutine action. Next, the chapter summarizes the organizational literature’s treatment of routine and nonroutine innovative action and their expression in the learning-curve construct. The chapter next introduces a conceptual framework for action trajectories in project-based and routine-based innovation. The chapter then explores the role of brokerage and knowledge articulation in creative projects. This is followed by a brief examination of meta-routines and meta-trajectories. Next, the chapter provides exploratory criteria for making distinctions between innovation in creative projects and innovation in organizational routines. Finally, the chapter concludes with a hypothetical case of the Apple Watch to illustrate the concepts introduced here.

This study aims to determine the spiritual development of students in SMP Negeri 12 Palopo, and to determine the role of Islamic religious education teachers in the spiritual development of students in 12 Palopo State Middle School. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, using normative approaches, pedagogical approaches, and psychological approaches. Data sources in this study are primary data and secondary data. Collected with Observation and Documentation Interview techniques. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that: (1) The spiritual development of students in Palopo State 12 Junior High School. In addition to the religious material the teacher also provides the properties of local wisdom, namely the habits that exist in the community that is always emphasized to students so that there is no disconnect between the conditions in the community and what they will face, especially in terms of togetherness, kinship, and discipline. through learning materials and will also involve students in social activities such as raising funds for disaster victims, visiting sick friends or teachers, mourn if there is one teacher, community leader, student and student representative who is experiencing a disaster. The direct and active approach is expected to grow and develop a sense of empathy for the surrounding environment. (2) The role of Islamic religious teachers in the spiritual development of students in SMP Negeri 12 Palopo, namely, as instructors, providing learning materials as well as lecturing practices at school, performing congregational prayers before going home from school. The teacher also controls students in their respective environments by using prayer journal books.

The Relationship

This chapter examines the essential role of knowledge articulation in enabling brokers to mobilize and coordinate others’ actions to get new things done. First, the chapter examine the tacit/explicit conceptualization of knowledge and its implications for knowledge articulation. Second, the chapter revisits Carlile’s 3T model (knowledge transfer, knowledge translation, and knowledge transformation) and how it bridges between brokerage and knowledge articulation. Third, the chapter focuses on three initially dyadic processes for articulating knowledge: mutual intelligibility, persuasion, and enlistment. Then the chapter turns to ethnographic data to illustrate knowledge articulation in terms of five practices or communicative dimensions: moving between back stage and front stage; moving between complex and simple; moving among the past, present, and future; balancing familiarizing and defamiliarizing; and establishing credibility by laying down markers. Finally, the chapter revisits the relationship between brokerage processes and knowledge articulation in getting new things done.

The scope and extent of environmental pollution is reviewed. The roles of the dairy and food industry in environmental pollution–polluter, educator, community leader–are explained. Examples of how the industry pollutes the environment, how it can help educate its employees and the public about pollution, and how industry personnel can provide community leadership to study and solve local environmental pollution problems are cited. The industry is urged to become involved in the campaign to abate pollution and to be committed to improving environmental quality.
