This paper demonstrates how professional development which focuses on task design principles can impact on what a preschool teacher may learn from implementing that task which in turn may impact on changes made to specific task features. Specific design principles for preschool mathematics tasks are presented and exemplified

The article is devoted to the practical aspects of forming the professional readiness of preschool teachers for life-long professional development. It is shown that the professional development of practicing teacher can be embodied in certain forms, in particular: specialized on-the-job training; coaching and / or advisory interactions with the professional oriented communities sharing the experience or peer training groups. In the article it is stated that pedagogical trainings are the effective form of methodological work in the preschool education establishment, the main purpose of which is the formation of readiness of teachers for professional development during life. The advantages and difficulties in conducting trainings are outlined. It is pointed out that the success of the training depends crucially on the so-called «group effect». The authors provide a description of the content characteristics and practical importance of various forms of methodological work in pre-school educational establishment, in particular: trainings, certified courses (innovative form of professional growth of teachers), business games (form and method of active teacher training), exercises (a method of teaching that involves purposeful learning), repeated repetition of certain actions or operations for the purpose of formation of skills), methodical associations (structural unit of the methodical service of the educational establishment providing the educational training, methodical research and experimental work), training (acquisition by a person experiences the tasks and responsibilities of a specialty) and others. Examples of trainings, business games and exercises, directions for methodological associations, workshops, and internship topics are provided with a clear description of their goals and objectives. It is shown that the professional growth of a preschool teacher depends on a set of different factors, including the level of motivational readiness generated and the selection of interactive forms and methods of methodical work that are appropriate to use in working with preschool teachers.

Researchers in the area of design for the developing world have synthesized knowledge from location-specific product case studies in the form of design guidance, which includes pitfalls, principles, and methods. Much of the design guidance relates to specific product classes and regions, while recent work is directed towards generalized principles. The aim of this paper is to fill gaps in product class-specific design guidance by creating larger groups of similar products, which share design characteristics. In this paper, we present a method for classifying products into such groups utilizing cluster analysis. We present a five-step method, which includes optional synthesis of design principles. The potential value of the method is demonstrated in a case study. The result included two distinct product groups, titled Products for Relief and Products for Development, and corresponding design principles for each group.

This study describes the design and implementation of an adversary hearing used to evaluate professional development initiatives in a military environment. The adversary hearing model used in the evaluation was developed to meet the requirements of an environment that differs from other environments in which adversary hearings have been used. The evaluation was conducted to determine whether a professional development program of the U. S. Army, Europe, actually enhanced soldier development and demonstrated consideration by leaders for their followers. Several key issues relate d to program effectiveness were discovered in the process of the adversary hearing that were not evident in a survey evaluation of the program.

The paper presents the research carried out in the school year 2018-19 in preschoolsof the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The aim of the research was to assess therole of preschool teachers in supporting and enriching child’s play, gain insight intochildren’s actions in relation to it, as well as to ascertain the dominant perspectiveof the children and adults in the play. One hundred forty-five preschool teachershad been interviewed. The results have shown that teachers have had a shiftof focus in understanding child’s play and assessing its efficiency. Even thoughteachers in general see play as a free child’s activity, it has become apparent theyperceive it more as a learning method than a free child’s action. Play with rules wasintroduced to all age groups of children, including nursery. The play implementedin the research was assessed as successful, and the preschool teacher’s role was toguide or observe it. Even though the question of the relation in which the childenters and builds its own experiences is seen as an imperative in contemporaryeducational policies, teachers have stated that they are mostly focused on eithertheir own or the child's perspective. The research has confirmed the presence of atendency for didactisation of play and showed the need for new insights into thissignificant child's activity. Keywords: child; play; preschool teacher; relationship; perspective.

The responsibility of the development and the achievement of the child seems to be put on the shoulders of the preschool teacher. However, education is a teamwork in which not only teacher but also school administrator, family, school counselor (psychological counselor) and other supporting units should take active duty and work in cooperation. The school counselor plays an important role in following and supporting the child's bio-psycho-social development in this process. For all that, it is noteworthy that there is no effective cooperation between preschool teacher and school counselor. This study aims to investigate the perceptions of preschool teachers about school counselors. The data on school counselors’ perceptions was collected by metaphor analysis method. Content analysis was used to classify the data. The study group of the research consisted of 221 preschool teachers working in European side of Istanbul during the academic year of 2016-2017. As a means of collecting data, teachers were asked to complete the sentence "School counselor is like .............. because ..........". Also the "personal information form" was used to obtain demographic information. Conceptual categories were created by analyzing the reasons why teachers prefered and used their spesific expressions to complete the survey. It was determined that the school counselor perceived positive expressions such as advisor, helper, guiding, problem solver, supporting.

In this paper, we examine the impact of a massive open online course (MOOC) in the context of outdoor mathematics on the participating teachers’ professional development. We firstly introduce the theoretical background on outdoor mathematics, focusing on math trails with the digital tool MathCityMap and professional development to be accomplished using MOOCs. By taking into account the MOOC “Task Design for Math Trails”, with 93 finalists, we analyze the learning progress of 19 selected case studies from different nations and learning levels by taking into account their answers in a pre- and post-questionnaire and their posts on a specific communication message board, with a special focus on the MOOC’s topics’ task design for outdoor mathematics and the digital tool MathCityMap. The analysis is performed using different quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results show that the teachers studied have benefited from professional development, which is evident in the expansion/evolution of their knowledge from a content, pedagogical, and technological perspective. Finally, we formulate consequences for professional development in STEM education, and conclude the paper with limitations to be drawn and a perspective for further research.
