Abstract. Hastini T, Suwarno WB, Ghulamahdi M, Aswidinnoor H. 2019. Short Communication: Correlation and regression among rice panicle branches traits. Biodiversitas 20: 1140-1146. Panicle was a very important organ in rice since the grains are developed from the panicle branches. This study aimed to find out the information about the relationship among rice panicle branching traits using correlation and regression analysis. The trial was conducted at the IPB Research Station, Babakan, Bogor, Indonesia from December 2015 until April 2016. Twenty genotypes of lowland rice were used as treatments with three replications and arranged in a completely randomized design. The panicle branches traits were observed. The result showed that there was positively and a highly significant relationship among the panicle branches traits in general. Analysis using linear regression revealed that, in general, the total grains number per panicle showed the linear relationships with other traits, and only total grains number per panicle vs tertiary branches number, total grains number per panicle vs grains number of tertiary panicle branch, and total grains number per panicle vs the number of secondary branches per panicle branch showed the quadratic relationship. Among all rice panicle branching traits, the secondary panicle branches number had the highest contribution to the total grains number per panicle.

The article discusses the concepts of trust and corruption in society and explores the interdependence between them using the international Edelman Trust Barometer (ETB) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). Research methods are: 1) the topological model proposed by the authors, built on the averaged values of these indices; 2) correlation and regression analysis; 3) scenario approach based on the formation of «range corridors». The analysis of the topological model was carried out, on the basis of which the zones of low, medium and high levels of corruption were identified, with a characteristic specific type of relationship between the ETB and CPI indices; the general view of the dependence of the level of trust on corruption in the form of a horizontal S-shaped curve is approximately defined. Statistically significant linear regression equations were obtained, reflecting the relationship of the considered indices for three countries (Germany, Colombia, France).

Background: It is currently believed that protein folding rates are influenced by protein structure, environment and temperature, amino acid sequence and so on. We have been working for long to determine whether and in what ways mRNA affects the protein folding rate. A large number of palindromes aroused our attention in our previous research. Whether these palindromes do have important influences on protein folding rates and what’s the mechanism? Very few related studies are focused on these problems. Objective: In this article, our motivation is to find out if palindromes have important influences on protein folding rates and what’s the mechanism. Method: In this article, the parameters of the palindromes were defined and calculated, the linear regression analysis between the values of each parameter and the experimental protein folding rates were done. Furthermore, to compare the results of different kinds of proteins, proteins were classified into the two-state proteins and the multi-state proteins. For the two kinds of proteins, the above linear regression analysis were performed respectively. Results : Protein folding rates were negatively correlated to the palindrome frequencies for all proteins. An extremely significant negative linear correlation appeared in the relationship between palindrome densities and protein folding rates. And the repeatedly used bases by different palindromes simultaneously have an important effect on the relationship between palindrome density and protein folding rate. Conclusion: The palindromes have important influences on protein folding rates, and the repeatedly used bases in different palindromes simultaneously play a key role in influencing the protein folding rates.

The effects of two silvicultural herbicides (Vision®, Release®) on bryophytes and lichens were studied in a harvested boreal mixedwood ecosystem. A completely randomized design with 115 plots of 1 m2 allowed direct comparison between herbicides and their effects on community dynamics. Regression models were used to analyze the relationship between herbicide application rates (0.71-6.72 kg active ingredient/ha) and changes in bryophyte and lichen abundance and species richness for 2 years following herbicide application. Results showed that bryophyte and lichen abundance and species richness decreased after herbicide treatments. In general, herbicide applications reduced the diversity of forest mesophytes and weedy colonizers to an ecosystem with only a few species of colonizers. A combination of clustering techniques and ANOVA were used to divide bryophytes and lichens into three ecologically defined response groups: herbicide-tolerant colonizers, semi tolerant long-term stayers from dry open forest, and sensitive forest mesophytes.

Increasingly, the policy of the Russian Federation is aimed at the development of healthcare, and spending on the healthcare industry is becoming a serious problem for the financial stability of national health systems, even in highincome countries. Voluntary medical insurance, as one of the forms of medical insurance, contributes to the formation of all insurance premiums, thereby this form can be one of the indirect factors of socioeconomic development of Russia. The paper hypothesizes the existence of a relationship between the level of development of the welfare of the country and the volume of the premium fund of voluntary health insurance. A study was conducted on the relationship between voluntary health insurance and GDP, as one of the key indicators of the country's development, through correlation and regression analysis.
