The implementation of an open innovation model is considered by many researchers, to be a great opportunity to help profit-making organizations become more competitive and successful. But some sectors, such as the banking sector, are not able to apply this model. In the Albanian banking sector, the concept of an open innovation model is almost unknown to executive directors. The question is: Why does this happen? The implementation of an open innovation model is strongly affected by cost, short term focus, legislative problems, lack of information, and frequently by a lack of interest in cooperation. As a possible solution for this problem, especially during the financial crisis which has impacted Albanian as well as the rest of the world, raising a strong awareness of the importance of this model could be one route to improve the level of competitiveness in the banking sector.

Научная новизна заключается в разработке основных направлений развития банковской системы на международном уровне, результатах анализа опыта лидирующих транснациональных банковских компаний в условиях пандемии The article is devoted to the problems of maintaining the competitive advantages of commercial banks for the implementation of financial transactions in cross-border markets. The aim of the study is to analyze the main trends in the development of the work of transnational banks in the context of globalization. The object of research is the world leaders of the international banking sector. In the process of research, the authors have analyzed theoretical and practical material used in general methods of scientific knowledge and statistical research. Scientific novelty lies in the development of the main directions for the development of the banking system at the international level, analysis of the experience of leading transnational banking companies in the context of a pandemic.

A key dimension of fiscal policy during the financial crisis was massive government support for the banking system. The macroeconomic effects of that support have, so far, received little attention in the literature. This paper fills this gap, using a quantitative dynamic model with a banking sector. Our results suggest that state aid for banks may have a strong positive effect on real activity. Bank state aid multipliers are in the same range as conventional fiscal spending multipliers. Support for banks has a positive effect on investment, while a rise in government purchases crowds out investment.

The article is devoted to the development of the global banking sector in the context of the digital transformation of the economy, the introduction of platform solutions and the creation of ecosystems that provide the client with a range of financial and non-financial products and services. The author highlights the trends and directions of development of the banking sector, among which many researchers and econo-mists note the presence of facts that are directly related to the conditions of modern social and state develop-ment. A set of trends in the development of the world banking system is proposed, which is directly related to the processes of digitalization of society and the widespread dissemination of information technologies.

Financial crisis affected many people and companies in the world negatively in terms of job loss and bankruptcy. Owing to this aspect, today many banks developed strategies in order to minimize the effects of any potential crisis which might be occurred in the future. Present study aims to evaluate the strategies of Turkish banks to minimize the effects of financial crisis by using fuzzy ANP and fuzzy TOPSIS methods. The study identifies that capital injection is the most significant strategy whereas the strategy of decreasing interest rate has the weakest importance. In addition to this aspect, it was also determined that privately-owned banks are the most successful banking group of Turkey with respect to the achievement of strategic goals during a financial crisis. On the other hand, state-owned banks have the lowest degree regarding this concept. The study recommends that Turkish banks should mainly focus on increasing capital amount in order to minimize the negative aspects of the crisis

Regulators responded with an array of strategies to shore up weaknesses exposed by the 2008 financial crisis. This chapter focuses on reforms to bank capital regulation. We first discuss the ways in which the post-crisis Basel III reforms recalibrated the existing framework by improving the quality of capital, increasing the quantity of capital, and improving the calculation of risk weights. We then shift to the major structural changes in the regulatory capital framework—capital buffers on top of the minimum requirements; a leverage ratio that explicitly accounts for off-balance-sheet exposures; risk-based and leverage capital surcharges on the largest banks; bail-in debt to facilitate orderly resolution; and forward-looking stress tests. We conclude with a quantitative assessment of the evolution of capital in the global banking system and in the US banking sector.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine the determinants and extent of corporate social disclosure (CSD) by UAE national banks and to investigate the changes in CSD before, during and after the latest financial crisis.Design/methodology/approachDeductive in nature, this paper uses content analysis of annual reports of 16 UAE banks over a period of six years (2006-2011) to test eight hypotheses related to size, financial performance and other variables as potential explanatory variables of the CSD extent over different periods.FindingsThe findings show that human resources and community disclosures exhibited the highest extent of CSD over the six years. Moreover, the size and financial performance variables appear to be significant explanatory factors for the extent of CSD. The findings also indicate a strong variation in disclosure between banks with international presence and those with no such presence, while there is no significant disclosure variation between Islamic and conventional banks or during the different periods under investigation (pre, during and post recent financial crisis).Research limitations/implicationsStudies allowing a greater understanding of how banks with extensive governmental ownership define and disclose CSR in this particular region of the world are scarce and exploratory in nature. Consequently, the structure of national UAE banks provides a unique opportunity to understand the CSR mechanisms and disclosure of similar institutions in the world (particularly in the Arab world). This presents an interesting direction for further research.Practical implicationsThese findings could assist UAE bankers and policymakers in integrating CSD in their corporate strategies and help the local and international business communities in understanding the characteristics of CSD in the UAE.Originality/valueComprehensive in scope, this paper provides a complete assessment of the potential explanatory proxies of CSD by UAE local banks before, during and after the recent global financial crisis. Comparable studies of the UAE banking sector have mainly focused on particular bank types (i.e. Islamic or conventional) and did not consider the effect of the recent adverse financial climate.

As has been argued throughout this paper, the different way in which banks have been affected by the crisis is closely linked to their distinct business model. Consequently, the characteristic structure of the balance sheet in big banks and ethical banks is correlated with their divergent dynamic during the crisis. While the financial turmoil has left the business approach of ethical banks unchanged, as evidenced in the striking stability of their balance sheet from 2007 to 2009, the pattern shown by big banks has substantially changed over this same period. These developments would tend to suggest the need to reform the business model of big banks. There is no clear empirical evidence that a banking system with a large number of small institutions would be any more stable than the system as it currently stands. Besides, financing certain big projects would always require the existence of large international banks. Both types of financial institutions are in fact complementary. How to regulate the banking and financial sector is thus a complex and multifaceted issue. One cannot impose the same requirements on big international-oriented banks and small domestic banks. As this paper has tried to demonstrate, both have a distinct business model.

The banking system is an integral part of contemporary economy. There are many reasons behind the success of the banks. One of the most important of these reasons is the development of effective management and organization in the banks. This study has been applied to commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan banking sector. The aim of this study is to identify the problems of commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan and to contribute to new work on their solution. The main issues such as planning, organization, decision making, human resources and training related to management and organizational problems of the enterprises in the study are discussed. Besides the general information about the research, the research method, sampling and measurement tools are given. Findings from the questionnaires were evaluated on the percentage (%) and frequency (f). In the results obtained, it was observed that commercial banks were making short-term plans and staff recruitment was dependent on management. It has been understood that senior management does not resort to employees' opinions when making a decision.
