Adenomatoid hyperplasia is a rare lesion of the minor salivary glands recognized by localized swelling that mimics a neoplasm. This so called pseudotumor usually occurring in adults 4th to 6th decade of life mostly, in 80 percent, occurs as a unilateral swelling without ulcer on the hard and soft palate. The pathogenesis of this condition is not well known but local trauma might have a role. In this case report three cases of adenomatoid hyperplasia have been reported to bring attention to this lesion as it is clinically similar to many soft tissue lesions of oral mucosa so should be considered while making a clinical diagnosis. Also, Pathologists should investigate a proper sample size under a microscope not to confuse a normal salivary gland adjacent to salivary gland tumours with Adenomatoid hyperplasia.

This case report demonstrates the management of a myoepithelioma in the minor salivary glands of the palate. Myoepitheliomas are rare, benign, salivary gland tumours which usually affect the parotid glands. The rare neoplasms only account for 1–1.5% of all salivary gland neoplasms. This case shows a minimal approach to treating this rare tumour found in a rare site. CPD/Clinical Relevance: This case demonstrates the potential for rapid epithelial recovery within the oral cavity.

Minor salivary gland tumours are enigmatic in their behaviour and presentations. Histopathological diagnosis of these tumours encompasses a large spectrum. Conventionally, small nodular tumours of the upper lip or the labial mucosa are generally adenomas, frequently pleomorphic adenomas. Here, we describe a case of a solitary nodular tumour, occurring in the upper labial mucosa, diagnosed as sclerosing polycystic adenoma (SPA) with intraductal epithelial proliferation of high grade. This is a rare lesion, which has entered into the category of salivary gland tumours recently in the 2017 WHO categorisation. We report a case of paucicystic SPA with intraductal epithelial proliferations in the labial minor salivary gland of a 56-year-old woman, which might be the first report of a case occurring in the upper labial mucosa.

Introduction. Although pleomorphic adenoma is the most common neoplasm of the salivary glands, this tumor most commonly involves the minor salivary glands of palatal and rarely occurs in cervical region.Case Report. A 21-year-old female referred to our clinic due to painless mass of right upper region of neck. After paraclinical and pathologic evaluation, it was diagnosed as cervical pleomorphic adenoma.Conclusion. Pleomorphic adenoma may be rarely involving the neck. Although the prognosis is good, the choice treatment is the complete resection of the tumor.

ABSTRACT Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands and has both epithelial and mesenchymal tissues. It most commonly arises from the parotid or submandibular glands. Rarely, it arises from the minor salivary glands. We report here a case of pleomorphic adenoma arising from the soft palate and both sides of anterior tonsillar pillars in a 75-year-old man. This patient was presenting painless slow growing large swelling in the soft palate over 20 years causing mechanical obstruction of airway and food. The entire tumor mass was excised along with overlying mucosa. How to cite this article Swain SK, Sahu MC, Tripathy R. Salivary gland tumors are rare among all head and neck tumors. Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most commonly seen subtype, and 85% of the cases are located in the parotid gland. PA may very rarely be seen in minor salivary glands. Minor salivary gland PAs are mostly located in the hard and soft palates. Nasopharyngeal PA is very rare, and a total of 8 cases have been published to date. In this case report, a 51-year-old female patient who had nasopharyngeal PA with chondroid metaplasia is presented, and we review the relevant literature.

AbstractPleomorphic adenomas arising from sites other than the major or minor salivary glands are uncommon. We describe a case of pleomorphic adenoma in the subcutaneous tissue of the nasomaxillary crease. An identical tumour was previously excised from the right nasal cavity. The possible aetiology of these heterotopic salivary gland tumours is discussed.

AbstractEpithelial salivary gland tumours presenting in the first month of life (perinatal tumours) are exclusively of major salivary gland origin and predominantly of the parotid gland. Approximately 25 per cent of these rare tumors have been histologically and/or biologically malignant. Except for an occasional pleomorphic and monomorphic adenoma, the majority of the tumors are proliferations suggesting a tumorous arrest of maturation of the salivary gland anlage, hence their designation as embryomas. A case report of an embryoma of the parotid is presented, accompanied by a review of the literature.

Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma is a rare salivary gland malignant tumor of low aggressiveness, commonly occurring in minor salivary glands. Its origin in major salivary glands is considered exceedingly rare. We report a case of polymorphous low grade adenocarcinoma arising from left parotid in a 21-yearold female patient.Journal of Pathology of Nepal (2012) Vol. 2, 331-334DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/jpn.v2i4.6890
