The article discusses the issues of sustainable development. The implementation of the sustainable development concept involves the integration of different levels of government and bringing the approach to the level of business and individual projects. A company may have a different degree of economic stability, the measurement of which can be accomplished through the analysis of the cost structure of the product sold, including the costs of maintaining the environment. Evaluation of the project can be carried out taking into account the levels of initiation and levels of its impact on sustainable development. We propose a method of evaluation that allows taking into account all three aspects: economic, social and environmental. In the process of assessing the sustainability of the project it is advisable to take into account the full life cycle. The article shows how to take into account the parameters that characterize the activity and the product produced by the asset. By themselves, the project or the circumstances of its implementation could result in your loss of stability of the system in which it is located. It is recommended to evaluate the loss of stability in private terms, and as a whole for the project — based on the calculation of the integral indicator.

The World Bank, United Nations, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and others are in line with the governments of countries that are strongly interested in the sustainable development of countries, regions, and enterprises. One of the aspects that affects the indicators and prospects of sustainable development is the efficiency of energy source use. Nationwide reductions in the greenhouse gas emissions of motor vehicles could have a direct effect on ambient temperature and reducing the effects of global warming, which can affect future environmental, societal, and economic development. Significant reductions in fuel consumption can be achieved by increasing the efficiency of use, and the performance, of current cargo vehicles. This aspect is directly related to cargo delivery systems and supply chain efficiency and effectiveness. The article solves the problem of increasing the effectiveness of cargo delivery and proposes a model that would minimize transportation costs that are directly related to fuel consumption, shortening transportation time. The model addresses the problem of a lack of models evaluating the efficiency of cargo to Lithuania that is using several different modes of transportation. For the solution to this problem, the article examines the complexity of the rational use of land and water vehicles depending on the type of cargo transported, the technical capabilities of the vehicles (loading, speed, environmental pollution, fuel consumption, etc.), and the type (cars, railways, ships). The novelty of the findings is based on the availability to select the most appropriate vehicles, on a case-by-case basis, from the available options, depending on their environmental performance and energy efficiency. This model, later in this article, is used for calculations of Lithuanian companies for selecting the most rational vehicle by identifying the most appropriate route, as well as assessing the dynamics of the economic and physical indicators. The model allows for creating dependencies between the main indicators characterizing the transport process—the cost, the time of transport, and the safety, taking into account the dynamics of economic and physical indicators, that lead to a very important issue—reducing the amount of energy required to provide products and services.

Introduction. The article presents a review of scholarly literature and the author's assessment of the potential for sustainable development of a medical organization. The purpose of the article is to describe the author's methodology for assessing the potential for sustainable development, and to evaluate the effectiveness of its application in a medical organization. Materials and Methods. The study used the following research methods: comparative analysis, T.L. Saati, and the author’s methodology for assessing the potential for sustainable development of a medical organization. Results. In the process of analyzing the methodology for self-assessment of the maturity on the way to achieving the sustainable development of the ISO 9004 standard organization, the author revealed a number of problems. They include low sensitivity to individual assessment of processes, the lack of a mathematical expression of the level of development for certain areas of activity, and the absence of an integral indicator sensitive to minimal changes. The author describes in detail process of developing her methodology for assessing the potential for sustainable development of an organization and illustrates the application of this methodology within a medical organization for evaluating sustainable development in statics and dynamics. Conclusions. Finally, conclusions are drawn about the ways of applying the author's assessment methodology by the head of the medical organization.

The main goal of the article is to summarise existing methods of assessment of sustainable development at different levels (world, national, regional) and to consider the usage of one set of indicators – European common indicators – in the conditions of the Czech Republic and its regions. As there are many different methods for evaluating the sustainable development and this methodology has not been unified so far, it is not all clear, especially for regional authorities, what methodology to use, if they are willing to monitor and analyse the level of sustainable development in their regions. Most of the worldwide or national set of indicators are not very suitable for the regional level and vice versa. In the course of the analysis of existing methodology the authors selected one of them, which seemed to be perfectly suitable for the regional sustainable development and set out the hypothesis concerning the question if this methodology could be transferred and applied into the Czech regional conditions without any change and how does it interfere with the national set of indicators. In the final part of this article and in the discussion these two methodologies are compared, partial changes are proposed and certain new considerations are offered.

General Collective Intelligence (GCI) are software platforms that organize groups into a single collective intelligence with general problem solving ability. In doing so a GCI has the potential to give groups vastly more ability to address collective challenges such as the SDGs. A GCI is a significant infrastructure investment. The Collective Intelligence based Program to Accelerate Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (CIPAA-SDGs) however is designed to implement a GCI in phases so that the cost to any single project is far outweighed by the potential benefits. The phasing of that GCI development in the CIPAA-SDGs program design is used here as a case study for collectively intelligent program design.

In the environment of the lowest price winning the bid, competition among the hydroelectricity construction enterprises has become increasingly fierce. For the sustainable development, they have to take low profit margins, even at the cost price for the successful bid. So the cost management, as one part of reducing expenditure of the hydroelectricity construction enterprises, is important. According to the investigation of the current situation of the cost management of The Three Gorges Company Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd, this paper proposes the method establishing the cost analysis database and the concrete steps, intending to improve the efficiency of the cost accounting and analysis by means of the information technology, and win the bidding competition advantages for the hydroelectricity construction enterprises. Meanwhile, this paper hopes that the measure has some reference value for the same industry.

There are currently various social innovation practices and efforts to address sustainability and its impact on the world. One of them is the use of the appreciative inquiry methodology (AIM), which results in applying a SOAR analysis focused on sustainability and discovering the strengths, opportunities, aspirations, and results of a company. Thus, the company plays a fundamental role through corporate social responsibility (CSR) that seeks to carry out concrete actions that benefit society. This chapter will define what this methodology consists of, its scope, uses, and initiatives that have adopted it as part of their practices for the measurement and promotion of sustainability. One of the main results of using this methodology is to share success stories about innovations that meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through organizations such as AIM2Flourish and B Corp.

This chapter examines important lessons for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria. It first provides a synoptic overview of MDG implementation in Nigeria before discussing the socio-economic and political challenges associated with achieving the MDGs in the country as well as the some of the efforts made by Nigerian governments at different levels to achieve the MDGs in the face of such challenges. It then outlines three major imperatives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria by 2030 and concludes with some recommendations for overcoming the current challenges in relation to future poverty reduction and development strategies in the country. The chapter argues that Nigeria made little progress with respect to the MDGs, which were characterised by considerable stasis and undeniable reversals in some parts of the country.
