The analysis of the problem of pollution removal from hard-to-reach areas (cavities, closed openings and channels) on complicated-shaped parts of products of power mechanical and aggregate engineering is performed. The chemical composition of pollution on the example of the burner devices is studied. It is determined, that the large amount of deposits on weight consists of oxides of iron and the alloying metals. It is shown, that the most effective method of performance restoration of channels and openings is ultrasonic cleaning. However, this method has restrictions on impact on the hidden (shadow) zones owing to attenuation in cavitation processes. The cleaning method, according to which the combined impact is applied to the cleaned surfaces of the general cavitation and local contact vibration effect of the ultrasonic radiator, leading to high-frequency deformations and tension in deposits of organic and inorganic pollution and to their intensive peeling, is suggested. The technological modes of ultrasonic cleaning are defined experimentally. It is determined, that application of the suggested method allows significantly reduce the time of cleaning of channels and openings with removal to 97-98% of pollution at the brought ultrasonic power in 1 kW in comparison with the existing schemes of the general cavitation cleaning.

The paper describes the process of initiating a project to improve the efficiency of gas turbine plants for driving centrifugal superchargers at compressor stations. The study shows the main trends of increasing the efficiency of gas turbine drives of gas pumping units, gives the constructive-functional appearance of the modern gas turbine drive of the gas pumping unit, and proposes a method for increasing its efficiency.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the prospects for the development of loading methods for gas turbines as well as to develop a mathematical model that adequately describes the real operating conditions of the loading system at various loads and rotation speeds. A comparative analysis of the most common methods and technical means of loading the shafts of a free turbine at gas turbine plants intended for operation as part of gas pumping units is presented. Based on the results of the analysis, the expediency of using the loading model “Free Power Turbine Rotor–Hydraulic Brake” as a load simulation is shown. Recommendations for the creation of an automation system for the load testing of power plants have been developed. Mathematical models and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation models of power plants have been developed and tested. One of the most important factors that predetermine the effectiveness of the loading principle is the possibility of software implementation of the loading means using software control systems that provide the specified loading parameters of the gas turbine.

The disturbances of vapor bubble to a laser beam in the underwater laser machinig process importantly limits the material removal rate and cut quality obtained. This issue is more essential for the laser micromachining process that a precise and small trench cut is highly needed. In this study, the ultrasound was used to energize and break up the bubble while the laser beam was performing a cut in water. Silicon was used as a work sample in this study as its significant usage in many micro-components. An ultrasonic transducer was located nearby the workpiece in an attempt to vibrate surrounding water. The results revealed that an increase in ultrasonic power increased the width and depth of cut channel. In addition, the workpiece surface obtained after the ablation was clean as similar to that performed by the ultrasonic cleaning. This combination of laser machining and ultrasonic cleaning processes can be another effective approach to cut thermal sensitive materials and also small components whose thermal damage and deposition of cut debris can be harmful to their functionality after laser ablation.

Results of the environmental update of GT-750-6 (“Nevsky Zavod”, 6 MW), KWU VR-438 (“Siemens”, 10 MW), MS-3002 (“General Electric”, 10 MW) gas-turbine unit combustors were examined. On the basis of some specific features of design and operating process in the combustors, original engineering approaches of their update using a technique of localized air blow into the fire space extreme temperature zones were developed. The technique was demonstrated to be effective for a variety of combustors. Using the technique, one needs no considerable changes of the combustor design. The fuel system and gas turbine plant automatic control and governing systems remain virtually intact.

To produce a new generation of gas-pumping units and to upgrade the existing ones, the producer needs to update their heat exchange equipment. The aim of the update is to decrease its mass and sizes and to reduce its manufacturing and assembly costs. Heat-hydraulic calculations and experiments with models of the gas-turbine plant cassette-tube airheaters demonstrated that application of profiled U-tubes of a small hydraulic diameter to manufacture the matrices of such heat exchangers provides a high compactness and low metal consumption rate typical for plate heat exchangers. Simplicaty, reliability, elasticity and maintainability which are typical characteristics of tube heat exchangers are retaned.
