Understanding future expectations and fulfilling current demands with a view of conserving social, cultural and natural environment of a destination, can be referred to as sustainable  tourism.  Changes  in  social  and  cultural environment are identified a little early than their natural counterpart. The first two being more vocal and narrates quick reactions among its audiences. Changes in natural environment lie silent till the time they reach a visible level  of  depletion.  The  present  paper  will  highlight sustainability issues in river tourism, which is one of the significant natural resources for tourism. Understanding the dependency of tourism on rivers and highlighting its positive and negative effects of it, will be discussed in the paper. The paper is supported by a case study on „The Ganges in Varanasi‟.  The Holy Ganges is the lifeline of the city and is facing immense sustainability issues, which has  raised  questions  against  her  future  existence.  The problems  faced and  measures  taken by  various organizations,  government  bodies,  and  individuals  to protect the lifeline of the oldest living city of the world will be examined further.

Research Question: This analysis arises from the decision of the current local council of Barcelona regarding the postponement of the sporting mega-event ‘World Roller Games’, due to a lack of a social and sportive implication in this event. This research tries to shed some light on the matter and give evidence to the local council to become the world capital of skating. The research question is to analyse whether non-economic impacts could be relevant enough to organise a mega-event.Research Methods: The methodology is based on the perception and experience of spectators and participants on four main impacts (social, economic, sports city image and sports practice) using a survey from a National Roller Skating Championship in Spain, considering that this profile of respondents have a better knowledge of the current situation of this sport.Results and Findings: There are positive expected future consequences of this mega-event to be held in Barcelona in social and sportive terms. We can also conclude that the local council must still introduce some social and sportive policies in the city in order to improve the chances of success in social, sports practice and sportive brand image development.Implications: It is demonstrated that a mega-event should not be seen purely from a perspective of business generation, especially with minority sports like roller skating. There is a clear opportunity to develop social and sportive practice initiatives that can push social cohesion throughout the city thanks to a mega-event such as this one.

The pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) led to the need for drastic control measures around the world to reduce the impact on the health of the population. The confinement of people in their homes resulted in a significant reduction in human activity at every level (economic, social, industrial, etc.), which was reflected in a decrease in environmental pollution levels. Studying the evolution of parameters, such as the level of environmental noise caused by vehicle traffic in urban environments, makes it possible to assess the impact of this type of measure. This paper presents a case study of the acoustic situation in Cáceres (Spain) during the restriction period by means of long-term acoustic measurements at various points of the city.

Purpose: Nowadays, the development of technology is very fast and increasingly sophisticated; no doubt all the problems in a city can be solved quickly and well. Hence, facing a huge number of the urban population, the city must adopt the strategy of smart city so that the standard of life can be improved. Some of the cities in the world have applied the concept of smart city. One of the dimensions in smart city concept is smart security and safety. This study aims to know the indicators and index level of smart security and safety in Bandung city of Indonesia. This research explores the indicators and measures the index level of smart security and safety in Bandung.  Methodology: The research method characteristics applied in this study is the exploratory sequential mixed method. Main Findings: This study finds that there are 20 indicators to measure the index level of smart security and safety. The smart security and safety level of Bandung city is 72% which is considered that on average the measured indicators are already good enough and satisfied, but there are some indicators that should be improved. The variable that should be improved is variable of Awareness and Understanding which has score of 49%. Implications/Applications: It is suggested by this study that the socialization of smart security and safety program such as Panic Button Application, LAPOR! The website should be more effective through making socialization more targeted and real.

The cities are expanding rapidly all over the world. India has also experienced this phenomenon and has continued the pace of growth. The recent trends in spatial growth of the cities are a new phenomenon in Indian urban landscape. The cities in India are witnessing development with the help of private developers for the last couple of decades. Being private properties these are by nature of exercising control have gates and boundaries. In scholarly literature these are called as Gated Community/Gated Development. Authors have argued them from various perspectives of anthropology, law, management and sociology etc. but very little has been discussed about their planning and morphology. Although, the rise of Gated Development is majorly attributed to the sense of fear and need for security, yet architects and urban designers, and even sociologist stress upon other methods to make the neighbourhoods secured. Hence the security aspects are not made part of the research here. The aspects of how these gated development impacts the perception of neighbourhood by residents is not touched upon. The paper discusses the distinction between the gated and non-gated neighbourhoods and also how residents perceive their neighbourhoods at large. For explaining this phenomenon, three neighbourhoods in the city of Gurugram in Haryana state in India have been identified as case study. These are identified on the basis of different morphological images that are identified. Space syntax and space cognition through sketch mapping is used for the analysis of the three neighbourhoods. The paper suggest that the continuity and connectivity of any spatial configuration is of utmost importance to make neighbourhood environment worthy of living life more socially connected.

As frações granulométricas do solo são consideradas recursos naturais não renováveis, devido a escala de tempo necessária para sua formação. A argila possui elevada disponibilidade na natureza, e por isso seu uso ainda é indiscriminado. É a matéria-prima principal para as indústrias de cerâmica vermelha pulverizadas em todo o território brasileiro. O objetivo do trabalho foi realizar uma discussão acerca do recurso natural não renovável argila e seu uso no processo produtivo da Indústria de cerâmica vermelha. Este foi desenvolvido através de pesquisa bibliográfica, e estudo de caso com realização de visitas técnicas a uma indústria de cerâmica vermelha localizada no município de Paudalho no estado de Pernambuco. No ano de 2013 a Indústria X adquiriu para estoque e consumo 70.161 toneladas, para uma produção de 35.806.268 blocos de cerâmica. De todo o quantitativo produzido houve uma perda de 7,5%, que reflete em 4.768 toneladas de argila e num prejuízo aproximado de R$ 845.835,52. Através do trabalho realizado percebe-se que há uma necessidade de planejamento da exploração e uso dos recursos naturais não renováveis, pois estes podem se tornar escassos e inviabilizar determinados processos produtivos. Isso pode acarretar em conflitos sociais e econômicos, pela valoração dos recursos e diminuição de disponibilidade para uso, ocasionando redução dos lucros por parte dos empresários e por consequência diminuição na oferta de empregos.Use of clay in the production process of the Red Ceramics: A case study in the city of Paudalho, Pernambuco Abstract: The fractions of soil are considered non-renewable natural resources, because the time scale required for its formation. Clay has high availability in nature, and therefore its use is still indiscriminate. It is the main raw material for the manufacture of red ceramic sprayed throughout the Brazilian territory. The objective was to conduct a discussion of non-renewable natural resource clay and its use in industry's production process of red ceramic. It was developed through literature review and case study of technical a red ceramic industry in the municipality of Paudalho in Pernambuco state visits. In 2013 the X Industry acquired for stock and consumption 70,161 tons, for a production of 35,806,268 ceramic blocks. The entire quantity produced there was a loss of 7.5%, which reflects in 4,768 tons of clay and an approximate loss of R $ 845,835.52. Through work is noticed that there is a need for planning of exploration and use of non-renewable natural resources, as they may become scarce and derail certain production processes. This can lead to social and economic conflicts, the valuation of resources and reduced availability for use, resulting in lower profits for entrepreneurs and consequently decrease in the supply of jobs.

Today, most of the cities in the world encounter the phenomenon of high rise building. The growth of high rise building in Tangail pourashava has been considerably increased since the last few years. Though high-rise buildings helped in solving the problem of shortage of land and housing, it also caused many problems in different environmental, structural, spatial, functional, socio-economical, and demographic aspects of the city. Our study was to identify the location of high-rise buildings, to classify these buildings by their uses and to investigate the Structural and functional characteristics of high-rise buildings in Tangail Pourashava. For the study both primary and secondary data were collected, primary data has been collected from field survey and secondary data has been collected from different journals and published and unpublished publications. The study also focused on the existing high-rise buildings safety and security system available in those buildings and made recommendation that the buildings should follow the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) guidance strictly to ensure all safety aspects.J. Intersections present a big safety problem in traffic since there has been an increased risk of crashes because of conflicts in the flows intersecting. A great number of studies done in the world show that roundabouts are safer than conventional intersections since it has been recorded that after the conversion to roundabouts the number of crashes has been decreasing. The research on applying Empirical Bayes (EB) method has been conducted by using 15 two-lane intersections in the city of Niš (Serbia), which have been converted into large compact two-lane roundabouts during the period of 2005-2013. The results show that the conversion of conventional intersections into roundabouts has positive effect on reducing the number of crashes. For all intersections, the reduction of crashes is estimated at around 76% for all crashes, i.e. 80% for the crashes with injuries. For different groups of intersections the effects are determined separately.

Surabaya, is one of the oldest cities in Indonesia. Since 1612, Surabaya has been a very busy trading center. Kalimas River, which is the river that flowing in the middle of the city of Surabaya, necessarily be a "River of Gold". It is used by traders, as a transport route for carrying goods from central Java to Surabaya. And from Surabaya, these goods are distributed throughout the world. The river management of Kalimas River is very complex. On the other hand, the development of tourism in Surabaya is very encouraging. Then, it is needed to propose a new tourism destination base on the potential of Kalimas River. Because there is no type of water attractions in Surabaya yet, so we need a study that focused on understanding the river lane as an alternative of water attraction in Surabaya. This research will be done in the realm of qualitative research. Based on the research objectives, the type of research that will be applied research so that the results can be much easier to implement. As the summary, it concluded that there are 4 steps to develop the Kalimas River lane as an aternative for water tourism destination in Surabaya, which are improving the quality of its existing condition, developing its potential to serve the purpose of water tourism, achieving the needs and expectations of the citizens of Surabaya on the river lane as an alternative water tourism destination, and finding new icon for Surabaya water tourism.

Numerous cities around the world are facing the problem of land subsidence. In many cases, it is the excessive groundwater extraction to meet human needs that leads to this subsidence. Since land subsidence rates are very slow (a few centimeters per year), the subsidence usually remains unnoticed until it has progressed to the point of causing severe damage to buildings, houses, and/or other infrastructures. Therefore, it is very important to detect the presence of subsidence in advance. In this study, screening for the presence of land subsidence in the city of Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia is conducted. The Sentinel-1A/B SAR dataset, taken from October 2014 to June 2019, is processed using the SBAS DInSAR method. Subsidence is found in the districts of Denpasar Selatan, Denpasar Barat, and Kuta, which falls in the range of -100 mm to -200 mm in an area of about 93.03 ha. All the extracted points of interest show the subsidence having linear behavior. The spatio-temporal behavior of the subsidence in Denpasar is presented clearly. However, the mechanism and the deriving factors of the subsidence remain unclear. Therefore, further studies are needed.

Indonesia is an archipelago country in which the tourism sector plays a role as an economic locomotive. In 2016, Indonesia joined the World Halal Tourism Award (WHTA) and won 12 awards, three of which were won by West Sumatra. Bukittinggi is the principal city of tourism in West Sumatra. There are many halal hotels and restaurants and 190 mosques available in the city. Unfortunately, the information regarding the mosque locations is still inadequate. For this reason, this research was conducted in order to develop a web-based and mobile-based geographic information system (GIS) for places of worship information (GPWI) to make it easier for Muslim tourists to find mosques, and other tourism objects and facilities. This paper reports on the development of the GPWI. The development of the GPWI employed the waterfall method. The GPWI allowed tourists to find mosques based on specific criteria, whose output showed them the location, information, route, and local transportation available to get to the mosques as well as other tourism objects and facilities around the mosque. The GPWI was developed using Free Open Source Software (FOSS) PostgreSQL/PostGIS, PHP, JavaScript, and Basic4Android. The spatial-based database and programs that were used to develop this GPWI are the main contributions of this study. Based on the product evaluation, the GPWI successfully met the needs of Muslim tourists in finding mosques during their visits to Bukittinggi.
