We examine the effects of information and information presentation format on individuals' choice of payment method in a large randomized experiment carried out with the Belgian National Office for Family Benefits. We find that a one-time mailing providing information about method of payment for child benefit support caused a fourfold increase in parents' decision to switch from payment by check to electronic payment. Simple, low-cost supplements significantly raised people's responsiveness to the mailing. Our results suggest that complexity and information (processing) costs pose significant barriers to transitioning to electronic payment methods, and that deliberate efforts to lower these costs can contribute to large behavioral changes. The aim of the study is to explore the relationship between overspending and the method of payment, to highlight its causes. The non-representative survey was conducted between 2020 and 2021 in Hungary (n = 499) using the snowball sampling of data collection. They examined the relationship between age, education, place of residence, and payment methods, and analyzed the impact of internal and external factors on cash consumption and sustainability. The results showed that the use of cash as a method of payment is characteristic with advancing age, and higher education has a higher willingness to pay electronically according to the examined sample, and the existence of electronic access is not related to the size of the settlement. It can be stated that the majority of respondents have no choice when choosing a payment method. The answers reflect confidence in electronic payment solutions (a value of 2.21 on a six-point scale). Each group believes that they can consciously plan their budget (alternative budget). With proper communication and awareness of these influencing factors, financial awareness can be strengthened.

Access to banks is rapidly increasing worldwide, and allows account-based instead of cash transfers. We conduct a randomized experiment documenting the impact of the payment method on savings behavior. In India, we allocate identical weekly payments into a bank account (treated) or in cash (control). Savings in the account increase by 131 percent within 3 months, and the effect is long lasting. We also show that cash payments increase consumption and that—once everyone is paid in cash again—the savings patterns no longer differ. We interpret these findings as a default effect, and we further discuss plausible mechanisms. (JEL C93, D14, D90, G21, O12, O16)

Purpose: The worldwide payment system has another alternative called e-payment system now. There are a numbers of different aspects on payment system in two mentioned countries. To utilize the arrangement of e-payment, we can spare our time, assets and powers throughout our day by day to exercise the daily e-payment method. The larger part of developing nation is utilizing this e-payment system these days, on the grounds that the e-payment will push the economy to drive speedily. Author has used quantitative method data collection, whereby questionnaire will be provided to respondents. The populations for this research study are financial organizations in both of countries. The target markets are 59 organizations and for data analyzing author will use SPSS technique. Today, the structure of payment system is electronic-payment systems.  It is believed that the result of this study significantly support e-payment system. Using cash, cheque and other kind of payment methods are very less observed in Malaysia. Author has tried to find what are the comparative aspects of payment system between two countries and what are the benefit of e-payment system which used in Malaysia and unused in Tajikistan. This study will help the payment system of Tajikistan to develop and transform to new payment system accordingly. Therefore, this research will deliver as educational subject and training courses to the Republic of Tajikistan.

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of race and income on the preferred payment instrument at pay points in a retail store in Pretoria Gauteng.Problem investigated: The method of payment, as well as the way these payment methods have been utilised, has evolved throughout history. Cash has stayed at the top of the payment instrument deck as a payment choice for the past 10 decades. With the expansion of technology payment instruments evolved to facilitate exchange between merchant and consumer. The preferred method of payment at a retail store in Gauteng, indicating whether consumers prefer cash payments or the use of cards was investigated. Further to this the difference in payment method between the different races and income groups was identified.Methodology: A quantitative survey research method was used. The statistical analysis entailed correlations using the Cramer’s V to test the dependency between two variables and the degree of dependency of variables, after which the Chi-Square test was also applied.Value of the research: The indication of consumer preference of payment method will have implications on which possibilities are available at the point of sale. Cash is no longer the only possible payment instrument; cards, debit and credit, are as easily used by consumers. Both banks and merchants will find this information important, since they need to make provision for different payment options. The results further distinguished consumer behaviour amongst different race groups and income groups. Conclusion: The research confirmed the previous findings in other countries that consumers have preconceived ideas on which payment instrument they would utilise at point of sale(POS.)

The ageing of population is a phenomenon that is affecting the majority of developed countries around the world and will soon affect developing economies too. In recent years, both industry and academia are focused on the development of several solutions aimed to guarantee a healthy and safe lifestyle to the elderly. In this context, the behavioral analysis of elderly people can help to prevent the occurrence of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and frailty problems. The innovative technologies enabling the Internet of Things (IoT) can be used in order to capture personal data for automatically recognizing changes in elderly people behavior in an unobtrusive, low-cost and low-power modality. This work aims to describe the ongoing activities within the City4Age project, funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Commission, mainly focused on the use of IoT technologies to develop an innovative AAL system able to capture personal data of elderly people in their home and city environments. The proposed architecture has been validated through a proof-of-concept focused mainly on localization issues, collection of ambient parameters, and user-environment interaction aspects.

We analyze 377 takeovers that occurred in Japan between 2000 and 2007. Our focus is on the choice of payment method between cash and shares, the bidding premium, the market valuation of a bidder and a target, and the share price reaction. We relate the findings to the two complimentary theories of takeover motives; the Q-theory and the misevaluation theory. We have found that in Japan cash offers tend to occur when an acquirer and a target are highly valued on B/P basis, and when target’s size in terms of market cap. is larger relative to bidder’s size. The bidding premium tends to be higher when a bidder’s valuation is higher, when a target’s valuation is lower, and when target’s market cap. is smaller relative to bidder’s market cap. The choice of payment method (cash or stock) does not affect the bidding premium. Buyer’s CARs are higher when target’s market cap. is larger relative to bidder’s market cap. Target’s CARs are higher when a bidder’s valuation is higher, when a target’s valuation is lower, and when cash is used to pay for a takeover. Japanese takeover market was very small before the late 1990s and then quickly expanded in the 21st century, so that we are among the first to explore it. Our findings under the recent merger wave in Japan are in contrast with Dong et al. (2006), and are consistent with the Q-theory. We believe that the Japanese management has so far conducted a takeover based on managerial and strategic objectives. Our results also provide an explanation for the finding of Kang et al. (2000) and others who report that that on average a takeover announcement in Japan is greeted with positive share price reaction of both a bidder and a target.

Rapid changes in the world of the Internet have led to changes in the electronic markets, especially the speed of information creation compared to normal markets, the reduction of the time between the search and the product, and the ability of the seller and buyer to deal with each other despite the distance between them, The electronic shopping decision depends on the method of payment. This study attempts to measure the effect of e-cards on the decision of e-shopping in Jordan through four aspects, namely: use and reliability, trust and safety, type of e-card and perception. The study reiterated that there is a positive relationship between the use and reliability of electronic cards and the decision of electronic shopping, where the use of electronic cards increases the decision of online shopping, the study also concluded that the type of electronic card and payment method affects the electronic purchase decision (credit card, debit card, prepaid card, cash on delivery).
