ABSTRACTTransition to a ferromagnetic long range ordered state was found at 0.60 K in the orthorhombic β-phase crystal of p-nitrophenyl nitronyl nitroxide (or 2-(4′-nitrophenyl)-4, 4, 5, 5-tetramethyl-4, 5-dihydro-lH-imidazol-1-oxyl-3-N-oxide in the IUPAC nomenclature). This finding provides the first example of an organic bulk ferromagnet consisting of light elements and having a definite molecular and crystal structure.

The synthesis and structural characterization of a square-planar copper(II) complex with pyridoxal S-methylisothiosemicarbazone (PLITSC) of the formula [Cu(PLITSC?H)H2O]Br?H2O (1) as the first Cu(II) complex with monoanionic form of this ligand were described. Complex 1 together with two previously synthesized complexes [Cu(PLITSC)Br2] (2) and [Cu(PLITSC)Br(MeOH)]Br (3) were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and electronic spectra and also by the methods of thermal analysis, conductometry and magnetochemistry.

Here we report the synthesis, isolation, and characterization of a dication salt, namely 4,6-bis(4,4′-bipyridinium)-1,3,5-triazin-2-one {12+(PF6)22−·2H2O1(PF6)2·2H2O}, and its radical cation salt, namely 4,6-bis(4,4′-bipyridinium)-1,3,5-triazin-2-one (1+˙PF6−1˙PF6).
