The monovalent metal salt lithium chloride promotes the decarboxylation of oxalacetic acid in ethanol. The absorption peak which appears at 230 mμ during the reaction is interpreted to be the enol form of pyruvic acid. Hydrogen chloride has a similar effect on the decarboxylation.

A heterogenized rhodium complex, prepared by sol-gel processing of Rh(CO)Cl[PPh2CH2CH2Si(OEt)3]2 and Si(OEt)4, is shown to catalyze the conversion of the silanes H4-nSiPh„ (n = 1 - 3) or (HMe2Si)2O to (poly)siloxanes by air or water. Using THF as a solvent, the silanoles Ph3SiOH or Ph2Si(OH)2 are obtained instead. The reaction of phenylacetic acid or acetic acid with HSiPh3 to give silyl esters is catalyzed by the same compound.

Analysis of the terroristic attacks in Siria, Afghanistan and other countries has shown high probability of the hazardous chemicals application by the terroristic groups. In the article the most catastrophic accidents which were connected with hazardous chemicals are described. That is why research and developments in the sphere of protection from hazardous chemicals are still actual. This article is dedicated to the new screening method of the spilled hazardous chemicals surface on the example of protection of the factories with these substances. Methodology, experimental apparatus, protective fast-hardening foam features, names of hazardous chemicals are shown.Test were made for such chemicals as: acetic acid, acetone, ammonia, bromine, chlorbenzene, chloroform, hydrogen bromide, hydrogen chloride, hexane, hydrazine, diesel fuel, dichlorethane, kerosene, toluene, phenol, hydrogen fluoride. Fantastic results were achieved in terms of isolating capability of the fast-hardening foam against evaporations of the pointed substances.

Kinetics and mechanism of hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine by the enzyme butyrylcholine esterase was studied. The spectrophotometric Ellman’s method and potentiometric pH-stat method were used for continuous determination of the actual concentration of the products thiocholine and acetic acid in the reaction mixture. The validity of the Michaelis-Menten (Briggs-Haldane) equation in the whole course of the reaction under used conditions was proved. The corresponding kinetics parameters (Vm and KM) were calculated from the obtained dependences of concentration of thiocholine or acetic acid vs. time and compared. From this comparison the deciding kinetic role of the step producing thiocholine was derived. The values of initial molar concentration of the enzyme and of the rate constants of the kinetic model were estimated.
