The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the water infusion method for various coalfaces of a coal seam by an experimental study. First, laboratory tests were performed on several coal samples taken from actual coalfaces to determine the general characteristics, especially the strength properties, with respect to the moisture content and time. The results obtained from the laboratory were employed to evaluate the appropriate parameters (e.g., water injection time and the optimum moisture content) for water infusion works in the field. A field test was then performed in order to assess the efficacy of water infusion for underground mining. The spalling depth (i.e., longwall face failure of coal wall, involving the stability of underground mining coalfaces) and mining velocity (i.e., involving the cost-effectiveness of mining constructions) were monitored at various coalfaces for both case studies (i.e., with and without water infusion). Expectedly, the field test results revealed that the spalling depth decreased significantly, whereas the mining velocity sped up considerably, at coalfaces using water infusion compared to at those without using the water infusion method. In conclusion, the promising findings obtained from the field test reinforced the efficacy of water infusion for underground mining coalfaces.

In order to overcome weaknesses of the limited strength of the traditional corrugated cardboard, and the corrugated cardboard with alternative high and low corrugated sandwich cores was developed by someone, named highly elastic corrugated cardboard. The highly elastic corrugated cardboard has excellent rebound properties of cushioning . On the existing research results, according to Wang Dong-mei development of its production methods, the author can product highly elastic corrugated cardboard in the laboratory in order to study its Strength properties. These experimental data provide a basis for actual production.

The paper presents an experimental research on anchoring devices developed for the pre-tensioning of fiber reinforced polymer tendons in the stress range between 40 and 70% of tensile strength. The technique of testing, the criteria of assessing the load capacity and the influence of preloading applied on the anchor wedges on the initial tendons slippage are described. The optimal technical configurations of the anchoring device have been obtained, including parameters regarding the necessary prior anchorage of the tendon ends based on the strength properties of the tendon bar and the requirements to avoid slippage during the tensile tests.

The self-compacted concrete (SCC) is a special type of concrete which settles down in the formwork and fills its every corner without any use of compaction or vibration. As SCC has higher flow-ability that causes brittle behaviour resulting in poor performance under tension and bending. The inclusion of randomly distributed short and discrete fibers is one of the most effective way to improve the tensile as well as flexural performance of SCC. In this regard this experimental study is undertaken to investigate the effect of nylon fibers (NF) on fresh and hardened properties of SCC. Two different lengths; 20 mm and 12 mm and five different volumetric percentages; 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5% of NF were used. The results revealed that addition of NF slightly affects the fresh properties of SCC. However, the extent of the effect is not of that order to be considered as major factor. The fresh properties for entire mixes lie within the required range according to EFNARC guidelines. The strength properties increases with addition of NF, the extent of increment is greater for the longer length of NF.
