Mediante la adopción de una interpretación performativa de la Cuarta parte de la Introducción del símbolo de la fe, de fray Luis de Granada, mostraré que bajo las apariencias de un tratado antijudío (que seguiría la larga tradición de escritos adversus iudaeos) se esconde un catecismo proconverso. Analizando algunos de sus motivos como son la «ceguera judaica», la «caridad cristiana», el binomio honra-deshonra, y destacando la importancia de las enseñanzas de San Pablo en aquella obra, mostraré que fue un alegato político y espiritual para defender la integración de los judeoconversos.

A sermon attributed to Theodore Syncellus (Theodoros Synkellos) is considered as one of the basic sources for the study of the Avar siege of Constantinople in AD 626. Therefore, the most historians paid more attention to the analysis of its historical background than to its ideological content. From the ideological point of view, the document serves as an evidence that a fear for the future of the Empire and its capital Constantinople began to rise within emerging Byzantine society. The Avar siege served its author mainly as a model for developing his polemics with imaginary Jewish opponents and their religion. It deserves to be included in a long succession of similar polemical treatises, which have existed in Christianity from its earliest times.

El diálogo, mayoritariamente empleado en la tradición greco-latina por los filósofos, fue adaptado como una forma de debate religioso especialmente adecuada para la controversia. Inició la literatura polémica adversus Iudaeos en el s. II, y tuvo su momento álgido entre los siglos V y VII, tras más de doscientos años de paréntesis. La intertextualidad es una de las principales características de los diálogos y formas dialogadas de la polémica antijudía. Se hace un análisis específico de la terminología con que son designadas todas estas formas literarias tanto en griego como en latín. Se relaciona la interacción real de los diálogos antijudíos con la puesta en escena y la exposición del contexto espacio-temporal. The dialogue, mostly used by philosophers in the Greco-Roman tradition, was adapted as a form of religious debate particulary suitable for the controversy. Polemic literature adversus Iudaeos began in the 2nd century, and had its climax between the 5th and 7th centuries, after more than 200 years of a pause. In this study, the caracteristics of the dialogues and the dialogical forms of the anti-Jewish polemic are analyzed: intertextuality is the most remarkable feature. An analysis of the terminology used in all literary forms both in Greek and Latin is also carried out. The underlying actual interaction of the anti-Jewish dialogues is related to the mise-en-scene and the presentation of the spacial and temporal context.
