This article introduces the concept of real-time composition and composition as a “dispositif” in the sense of Foucault and Deleuze, defining it as a heterogeneous ensemble of pieces that together form an apparatus. The introduction situates the dispositif in the context of cultural developments, most notably its slow but steady shift away from textualization in digital media. As musicians are adapting to ensuing cultural and, above all, economic changes, new musical forms emerge that rely to a lesser degree on fully notated scores, such as “comprovisation” or laptop performance. Antithetically, the computer also allows the creation of “authorless” notated scores in real time to be sight-read by capable musicians—a practice for which special software has been developed in recent years. Because these scores are not meant to be kept and distributed, they are ephemeral and, therefore, disposable. Three examples by the author are given to illustrate the interwovenness of this approach, where carefully selected narratives and dramaturgies make up for the inherent unpredictability of the outcome.

UNSTRUCTURED The global COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated innovation in medical education, specifically the adaptation of current curricula with expanded accessibility and the creation of novel curricula through the use of technology. Even prior to the pandemic, applications in AR and VR have shown promise in enhancing medical education for learners across many different specialties. AR and VR have the potential to create quality educational experiences that do not involve patient contact, making them particularly relevant in current times. VR shows promise in enhancing medical resuscitation teaching; AR has not been as well studied to date. AR offers the advantage of allowing learners to function in their usual environment with the addition of real time feedback through digital media. If successful, the incorporation of AR into medical simulation scenarios has the potential for broad application in emergency medical education.

AbstractThe amount of data produced by sensors, social and digital media, and Internet of Things (IoTs) are rapidly increasing each day. Decision makers often need to sift through a sea of Big Data to utilize information from a variety of sources in order to determine a course of action. This can be a very difficult and time-consuming task. For each data source encountered, the information can be redundant, conflicting, and/or incomplete. For near-real-time application, there is insufficient time for a human to interpret all the information from different sources. In this project, we have developed a near-real-time, data-agnostic, software architecture that is capable of using several disparate sources to autonomously generate Actionable Intelligence with a human in the loop. We demonstrated our solution through a traffic prediction exemplar problem.

Abstract A new automated approach to well correlation is presented that utilizes real-time Logging While-Drilling (LWD) data and predicted well curve to dynamically update subsurface layers during geosteering operations. The automatically created predicted log and a dynamically updated structural framework provides the foundation of the process. The predicted log is created using vertical sections of the nearby wells, which provide high confidence for determining depth and stratigraphic position of the geosteered well. The results give a better understanding of thickness variation in the horizontal part of the reservoir and maximize the reservoir contact (Sung, 2008). A new advanced methodology introduced in this study involves the creation of a dynamic structural framework model, from which horizontal well correlation is performed using real-time well logs and predicted logs that are generated from adjacent wells. The predicted logs are correlated to the LWD logs using anchor points and an interactive stretching and squeezing process that honors true stratigraphic thickness. Each new anchor point results in the creation of an additional control point that is used to build a more precise structural framework model. This new approach enables more rapid well log interpretation, increased accuracy and the ability to dynamically update the subsurface model during drilling. It also enables more efficient steering of the wellbore into the most productive zones of the reservoir. This study demonstrates how wells with over 10,000 feet of horizontal reservoir contact can be correlated in a real-time geosteering environment in a dynamic, efficient and accurate manner. The proposed process dramatically helps reduce the cost of drilling and the time it takes to dynamically regenerate accurate updated maps of the subsurface. It represents a major improvement in the understanding and modeling of complex, heterogeneous reservoirs by fostering a multi-disciplinary environment of cross-domain experts that are able to collaborate seamlessly as asset-teams. Both accuracy and efficiency gains have been realized by incorporating this methodology in the characterization of multi-stacked reservoirs.

The epidemic of the disease COVID-19, in Požeština in relation to China, where it originated in other parts of Croatia, appeared somewhat later, while Požega-Slavonia County in terms of total share in relation to other counties in Croatia remained relatively well , 16th place, out of a total of 20 counties, ie a smaller number of patients was recorded. In the conditions of public health danger to the health and lives of people with expressed uncertainty, citizens around the world were flooded with numerous information, about the disease, ways of prevention, treatment that at one point threatened to turn into an infodemia, as warned by the WHO. The importance of crisis communication in such conditions is of great importance, and how governments and headquarters communicate messages about the crisis to the public, which is discussed in the first parts of the paper and points out several inconsistencies and illogicalities in the actions of the state headquarters. prohibition and permission to make recommendations contrary to the epidemiologist’s recommendations. But more important than the recommendations of headquarters and governments, today are the recommendations and news transmitted by digital media, and especially the local ones that bring news and recommendations for the area where we live. Therefore, the aim of this paper was to investigate in the central part the significance of the local 034 Portal in the Corona crisis, and its monitoring of the crisis and its impact on the public. Research through several segments, it was found that the portal maintained the level of reporting on regular events and adjusted reporting on the Crown to the conditions and situation in the county, not leading to sensationalism, concern, fear, but was a carrier of preventive activities and a good ally in the fight. against the epidemic, that is, he followed the guidelines for informing the WHO and did not contribute to the creation of an infodemia.

Evolutionary processes are driven by diverse molecular mechanisms that act in the creation and prevention of mutations. It remains unclear how these mechanisms are regulated because limitations of existing mutation assays have precluded measuring how mutation rates vary over time in single cells. Toward this goal, I detected nascent DNA mismatches as a proxy for mutagenesis and simultaneously followed gene expression dynamics in single Escherichia coli cells using microfluidics. This general microscopy-based approach revealed the real-time dynamics of mutagenesis in response to DNA alkylation damage and antibiotic treatments. It also enabled relating the creation of DNA mismatches to the chronology of the underlying molecular processes. By avoiding population averaging, I discovered cell-to-cell variation in mutagenesis that correlated with heterogeneity in the expression of alternative responses to DNA damage. Pulses of mutagenesis are shown to arise from transient DNA repair deficiency. Constitutive expression of DNA repair pathways and induction of damage tolerance by the SOS response compensate for delays in the activation of inducible DNA repair mechanisms, together providing robustness against the toxic and mutagenic effects of DNA alkylation damage.

The Shakespearean stage productions after 1989 reflected social, political and economic changes in the rapidly transforming Polish reality, which gave rise to a modern type of audience whose sensitivity was shaped by popular music, cinema, digital media and the mass culture. Contemporary Polish directors (Jan Klata, Maja Kleczewska, Grzegorz Jarzyna, Krzysztof Warlikowski) recognized that modernity and tradition can (and should) be combined onstage and that canonical texts can express new meanings in new forms. The new approach to the audience and the canon led to the development of the new aesthetics representing the ‘postdramatic theatre’. The new aesthetics gave new rights to the directors; for example, Maja Kleczewska set her Macbeth in a criminal underworld of the Polish mafia in the 1990s, imbuing her production with kitschy costumes and pop culture symbols. For the same reason, Jan Klata located his H. in the Gdansk shipyard, the birthplace of ‘Solidarity’, infusing his adaptation with the music of The Doors, Metallica and U2. In my analysis of the Polish Shakespearean stage in the post-transformational era, I offer a short overview of some key trends in dramaturgical aesthetics and the directors’ approaches to the adaptation of Shakespeare’s drama to the stage in the 1990s and 2000s. Next, I discuss in more detail the ‘postdramatic’ aesthetics of the modern Shakespeare adaptations based on the examples of two chosen artists, Maja Kleczewska and Jan Klata.

We are immersed in a culture of spoken media, written media, and now irrevocably, digital screen media. Just as writing and speaking skills are keys to functioning in society, we must consider that the world increasingly demands proficiency in “mediating” as well. Doing anything less leaves this powerful medium in the hands of a relative few. By offering instruction in what digital screen media is, how it is effectively created, how the Internet continues to alter communication, and how this all informs everyday teaching and learning, digital media literacy can become more broadly understood and accessible. This chapter follows a program developed by the Rosebud Institute and looks at how—using simple, accessible technology—people can become more digital media literate by creating screen products themselves. The creation process also enables deeper, more authentic learning, allowing us all to communicate more effectively, to self-assess more reflectively, and to thrive in a screen-based world.

This chapter covers crisis communication, focusing on the crucial activities before, during, and after a crisis occurs. An environmental scan identifies risks an organization may encounter. Prioritizing these risks informs the creation of crisis communications plans for each risk. These plans include a strategy to guide all organizational communications efforts. Timeline, budget, products, digital resources, and formative measurement all must be considered. Practice is essential. These actions can prepare an organization and its people to manage high-pressure, high-speed activities in real time. Once the crisis is controlled, it is time to evaluate the plan and institute adjustments as required.
