Aim: To report the clinical case of a child with facial and periorbital emphysema caused by an orthodontic device. Case report: An 11-year-old child presented to our clinic showing moderate swelling of the left facial area. Based on his dental history, physical findings, and instrument examinations, the diagnosis of cervicofacial emphysema was established, caused by disengagement of the facebow. One week later, all swelling and crepitus had disappeared without complications. Most patients who develop subcutaneous emphysema after a dental procedure have only moderate local swelling, which normally resolves spontaneously and without complications within a week. However, the spread of large amounts of air into the deeper spaces may cause life-threatening sequelae. Conclusions: Orthodontists should be aware that the use of extraoral traction applied via a facebow can cause soft tissue injures and emphysema of the cervicofacial region. It is important to avoid misdiagnosis and to appropriately inform patient and parents about this condition.

Abstract Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma (AFS) is a rare, aggressive malignant odontogenic tumor. AFS is seen most frequently in second and third decades of life. We are reporting a case of a low grade AFS in a 21-year-old male complaining of a painless swelling in the right side of the maxilla. The patient was treated with surgical excision followed by radiotherapy, which is considered the most effective approach for most of soft tissue sarcomas. AFS has a high-reported recurrence rate (up to 37%); therefore, long-term surveillance for recurrence is crucial.

Introduction: Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) is common in older women, and depending on its extent, it is conservative or surgically treated. Colpocleisis is a technique for POP treatment, in which the vaginal canal is closed, entirely or partially, in order to avoid the protrusion of the pelvic structures, with preservation of the urethral meatus in order to preserve normal micturition. Clinical Case: We present a case of a 61-year old woman, who 8 years after a colpocleisis, progressed to urinary retention associated with the progressive scarring of the labia, causing the obstruction of the urethral meatus. The patient underwent a labiaplasty with anterior colpoperineoplasty, with complete normalization of her micturition and sexual activity. Conclusion: Long term urinary retention complication has not been previously reported in the literature and should be included as a possible adverse event after colpocleisis.

ABSTRACT The long term success of dental implants likely requires the maintenance of healthy periimplant tissues because the soft tissue seal around implants is best when the surrounding mucosa is not inflamed. For this reason, good oral hygiene and regular professional care are essential to maintaining implants. However, despite many years of experience with the implants, there is no standard protocol which defined the most effective regimen for long term implant maintenance. This is a case report of a 63 year old female patient who presented to our clinics with the typical characteristic features of periimplantitis. A special emphasis on the non surgical management of such patient and need of periodic recall for long term maintenance has been highlighted in this case report which will be beneficial to general practioneers as well as periodontologists in management of such patients.
