Osteoma cutis (OC) or cutaneous ossification refers to uncommon bone formation in the skin. Primary OC develops without any predisposing factor or pre-existing lesion, whereas secondary OC sets out as a dystrophic ossification following traumatic, cicatricial, and neoplastic factors or other cutaneous inflammations. Herein, we report a rare case of long-standing progressive primary OC of the scalp resected in 3 sessions with no recurrence after 1 year.

Adult intussusception is a rare entity accounting for 1% of all bowel obstructions. Unlike intussusceptions in children, which are idiopathic in 90% of cases, adult intussusceptions have an identifiable cause (lead point) in the majority of cases. Crohn’s disease (CD) may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, including the appendix. It was shown to be a predisposing factor for intussusception. Here, we report a rare case of adult intussusception with a lead point, emphasizing diagnostic input of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) in a patient with active CD that involves the appendix.

The extraosseous occurrence of Odontome is rare. Trauma to the tooth bud during its early developmental stages has been proposed as a possible predisposing factor for the origin of odontome. In many cases etiology cannot be identified. Here we report an unusual and rare case of odontome presenting as a fibrotic mass on the upper lip in 32 years old female patient. The authors believe this is the rare documented case of odontome occurring within the soft tissue of upper lip.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/jcmc.v5i1.12573

Buerger’s disease or Thromboangiitis obliterans is a segmental inflammatory disease that affects the vessels and nerves of the extremities. It usually affects men below 45 years old and correlates with tobacco, as a predisposing factor. A young adolescent boy of 18 yrs, smoker, nonalcoholic, nondiabetic was presented with the complaints of progressive aching pain (Claudication pain) during walking in both legs which relives by taking rest for last 3 years and also suffering from long standing non healing ulcer in the right great toe and second toe following traumatic nail avulsionBirdem Med J 2015; 5(1): 37-41

Introduction: Cecal volvulus (CV) is rare cause of intestinal obstruction especially in children. There is no established protocol for the treatment of CV due to its rarity. Case Presentation: We present a rare case of CV in a 9-year-old girl. Discussion: The spectrum of intestinal malrotation may give rise to a mobile cecum that may result to CV. Constipation could be a predisposing factor. The clinical presentation which may include abdominal pain, distension, constipation and vomiting depends on the time of presentation. There may be associations with chromosomal abnormalities. Conclusion: Although CV is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction, awareness and high index of suspicion is needed by clinician for early diagnosis and treatment.

✓ A rare case of parailiac ectopic bone formation 10 years after a Cloward procedure is presented. Dystrophic calcification of a previous hematoma or deposit of bone dust were considered to be the origin of this unusual complication.

Extra-peritoneal leiomyoma is a rare condition with the recognised etiologic factor being direct seeding of the site by a prior uterine surgery with a right metabolic environment. We report a rare case of abdominal wall leiomyoma developing in a fertile woman with no known predisposing factor and highlight the common approach to establish the diagnosis so as to deliver appropriate treatment to the patient.

Electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis (EDXA) are found to be very useful tools for identification of etiologic agents in pneumoconiosis or interstitial pulmonary disorders. Pulmonary interstitial fibrosis and granulomatosis are frequently associated with occupational and environmental pollution. Numerous reports of pneumoconiosis in various occupations such as coal and gold miners are presented in the literature. However, there is no known documented case of pulmonary changes in workers in the sandpaper industry. This study reports a rare case of pulmonary granulomatosis containing deposits from abrasives of sandpaper diagnosed by using EDXA.
