Remote-sensing research in glacial and pro-glacial environments raises several methodological problems relating to the handling of ground and satellite radiometric data. An evaluation is undertaken of the use of ground radiometry to elucidate properties of relevant surface types in order to interpret satellite imagery. It identifies the influence that geometric correction and re-sampling have on the radiometric purity of the resulting data set. Methodological problems inherent in deriving catchment terrain characteristics are discussed with reference to currently glacierized and pro-glacial zones of south-western Switzerland.

AbstractIn the medical field, the analysis of the blood sample of the patient is a critical task. Abnormalities in blood cells are accountable for various health issues. Red blood cells (RBCs) are one of the major components of blood. Classifying the RBC can allow us to diagnose different diseases. The traditional time consuming technique of visualizing RBC manually under the microscope is a tedious task and may lead to wrong interpretation because of the human error. The various health conditions can change the shape, texture, and size of normal RBCs. The proposed method has involved the use of image processing to classify the RBCs with the help of Convolution Neural Networks (CNN). The algorithm can extract the feature of each segmented cell image and classify it in various types as Microcytes, Elliptocytes, Stomatocytes, Macrocytes, Teardrop RBCs, Codocytes, Spherocytes, Sickel cell RBCs and Howell jolly RBCs. Classification is done with respect to the size, shape, and appearance of RBCs. The experiment was conducted on the blood slide collected from the hospital and RBC images were extracted from those blood slide images. The obtained results compared with reports obtained by the pathology lab and realized 98.5% accuracy. The developed system provides accurate and fast results due to which it may save the life of patients.

SummaryImage analysis with the aid of the computer has rapidly developed over the last few years. There are many possibilities of making use of this development in the medical and biological field. This paper is meant to give a rather general overview of recent systematics regarding the existing methodology in image analysis. Furthermore, some parts of these systematics are illustrated in greater detail by recent research work in the German Cancer Research Center. In particular, two applications are reported where special emphasis is laid on mathematical morphology. This relatively new approach to image analysis finds growing interest in the image processing community and has its strength in bridging the gap between a priori knowledge and image analysis procedures.

This paper adopts methods of longitudinal comparison, classification research, expand competition field and verify to research for role of mature user in product design and symbol. It found that multiple levels of demand which mature user proposed would strengthen function quality and kinds of products services. Common function of mature user and enterprise would make enterprises be in advantage over competition status in market expansion process. Product shape symbolizes their inner special function, also symbolizes the type of person who use it. Product symbol system can be independent of material base to form its own unique spiritual value. The results show that mature user, designer and bystander can jointly established vulgarly product specific symbol meaning. Product symbol function has three characteristics as qualitative, openness and systematic. Correct assessment to product economic characteristic with high additional value of symbol can effectively avoid risk and fraud, and make social and economic returning benefits.

Human beings possess a remarkable ability to recognise familiar faces quickly and without apparent effort. In spite of this facility, the mechanisms of visual recognition remain tantalisingly obscure. An experiment is reported in which image processing equipment was used to displace slightly the features of a set of original facial images to form groups of modified images. Observers were then required to indicate whether they were being shown the “original” or a “modified” face, when shown one face at a time on a TV monitor screen. Memory reinforcement was provided by displaying the original face at another screen position, between presentations. The data show, inter alia, the very high significance of the vertical positioning of the mouth, followed by eyes, and then the nose, as well as high sensitivity to close-set eyes, coupled with marked insensitivity to wide-set eyes. Implications of the results for the use of recognition aids such as Identikit and Photofit are briefly discussed.
