The operation and maintenance stage of the long-span prestressed steel structure is the core link of the whole life cycle. At present, there are few studies on the change law of safety risk in the whole process of operation and maintenance, especially the research on the analysis and prediction of the change law of safety risk in the whole process of structural operation and maintenance by effectively using the abundant monitoring data and relevant safety risk information in the operation and maintenance stage, which also affects the prestressed steel, which also affects the efficiency of judgment and control decision-making of operation and maintenance safety state of prestressed steel structure. Taking the spoke-type cable truss as an example, this paper proposes a new concept of integrating the digital twin model (DTM) with steel structure operation and maintenance safety. Through the combination of real physical space dimensions and digital virtual space dimensions, it is based on a hypothetical analysis model. In the above, a theoretical framework is proposed, and a case analysis of a prestressed steel structure is carried out from big data, and the feasibility of applying this method in the prestress loss and uneven rain and snow load conditions is evaluated. This method can provide guidance for operation and maintenance management and formulate strategies in time.

The safety of prestressed steel structures in service has been studied widely. However, traditional safety assessment methods for prestressed steel structures involve few sample points, do not provide accurate predictions, and consume substantial human and material resources. The digital twin technology can be used to monitor the structural behavior, state, and activity of a steel structure throughout its life cycle, which is equivalent to performing a safety assessment of the structure. The purpose of this study is to establish a digital twin multidimensional model of prestressed steel structures. Based on this model, the support vector machine and prediction model are trained using the relevant structural history data, and the safety risk level of the structure is then predicted based on the measured data. Finally, a proportional reduction model of the wheel-spoke cable truss structure is used to verify the feasibility of the proposed method. The results show that digital twin technology can achieve real-time monitoring of prestressed steel structures in use and can provide timely predictions of the safety level. This represents a new method for the safety risk assessment of prestressed steel structures.

Compressor is a typical high-end discrete product, with the shortening of product life cycle and the enhancement of the degree of product customization, the traditional compressor manufacturing system architecture cannot meet the requirements of comprehensive digital management of compressor from body scheme design to parts production line, logistics management, operation and maintenance monitoring and evaluation. This paper presents a compressor manufacturing system architecture based on digital twinning, and establishes an Internet platform for compressor industry oriented to remote coordination from three aspects of compressor design, production, operation and maintenance. The platform includes industrial Internet infrastructure layer, physical space entity model layer, virtual space multidimensional model layer, physical space and virtual space multidimensional model correlation and mapping layer, big data intelligent analysis decision-making layer, and digital twin application layer. Through the establishment of the compressor product design and simulation model of digital twin, compressor production process digital twin model, compressor fault diagnosis and remote operations digital twin model, implementation is based on the number of compressor collaboration in manufacturing industrial Internet platform twin system, leading the transformation and upgrading of intelligent manufacturing industry, compressor industry sustainable development ability and international competitiveness.

Background: To improve railway construction and maintenance, a novel digital twin that helps stakeholders visualize, share data, and monitor the progress and the condition during services is required. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a digitalization tool, which adopts an interoperable concept that benefits the whole life-cycle assessment (LCA) of the project. BIM’s applications create higher performance on cost efficiency and optimal time schedule, helping to reduce any unexpected consumption and waste over the life cycle of the infrastructure. Methods: The digital twin will be developed using BIM embedded by the lifecycle analysis method. A case study based on Taipei Metro (TM) has been conducted to enhance the performance in operation and maintenance. Life cycles of TM will be assessed and complied with ISO14064. Operation and maintenance activities will be determined from official records provided by TM. Material flows, stocks, and potential risks in the LCA are analyzed using BIM quantification embedded by risk data layer obtained from TM. Greenhouse emission, cost consumption and expenditure will be considered for integration into the BIM. Results: BIM demonstrated strong potential to enable a digital twin for managing railway maintenance and resilience. Based on the case study, a key challenge for BIM in Taiwan is the lack of insights, essential data, and construction standards, and thus the practical adoption of BIM for railway maintenance and resilience management is still in the design phase. Conclusions: This study exhibits a practical paradigm of the digital twin for railway maintenance and resilience improvement. It will assist all stakeholders to engage in the design, construction, and maintenance enhancing the reduction in life cycle cost, energy consumption and carbon footprint. New insight based on the Taipei Mass Rapid Transit system is highly valuable for railway industry globally by increasing the lifecycle sustainability and improving resilience of railway systems.

Exiting green building assessment standards sometimes cannot work well for large-scale public buildings due to insufficient attention to the operation and maintenance stage. This paper combines the theory of life cycle assessment (LCA) and building information modeling (BIM) technology, thereby proposing a green building assessment method by calculating the greenhouse gas emissions (GGE) of buildings from cradle to grave. Life cycle GGE (LCGGE) can be divided into three parts, including the materialization stage, the operation and maintenance stage, and the demolition stage. Two pieces of BIM software (Revit and Designbuilder) are applied in this study. A museum in Guangdong, China, with a hot summer and warm winter is selected for a case study. The results show that BIM can provide a rich source of needed engineering information for LCA. In addition, the operation and maintenance stage plays the most important role in the GGE reduction of a building throughout the whole life cycle. This research contributes to the knowledge body concerning green buildings and sustainable construction. It helps to achieve the reduction of GGE over the whole life cycle of a building. This is pertinent to contractors, homebuyers, and governments who are constantly seeking ways to achieve a low-carbon economy.
