Freight demand is a highly variable process over economic and industrial structure, and accurate freight demand forecasting is the basis of transportation planning. In order to clarify the influencing factors of freight volume so as to analyze and predict the change trend of freight volume accurately, this paper analyzes the impact of changes in economic, industrial structure, and complete consumption coefficients on freight demand, through constructing an input-output model for transportation value analysis and forecasting freight volume by fitting data of transportation value and freight traffic. Studies have shown that the growth in economic aggregate is the main reason for the increase in the value of transportation, and the change in the complete consumption coefficient is the main reason for the increase in freight traffic.

Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei is a typical developed region in China. The development of economy has brought lots of carbon emissions. To explore an effective way to reduce carbon emissions, we applied the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) model to find drivers behind carbon emission from 2003 to 2013. Results showed that, in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, economic output was main contributor to carbon emissions. Then we utilized the decoupling model to comprehensively analyze the relationship between economic output and carbon emission. Based on the two-level model, results indicated the following: (1) Industry sector accounted for almost 80% of energy consumption in whole region. The reduced proportion of industrial GDP will directly reduce the carbon emissions. (2) The carbon factor for CO2/energy in whole region was higher than that of Beijing and Tianjin but lower than that of Hebei. The impact of energy structure on carbon emission depends largely on the proportion of coal in industry. (3) The energy intensity in whole region decreased from 0.79 in 2003 to 0.40 in 2013 (unit: tons of standard coal/ten thousand yuan), which was lower than national average. (4) The cumulative effects of industrial structure, energy structure, and energy intensity were negative, positive, and negative, respectively.

Practical tasks related to property management and disposal in energy companies can be solved only if the actual property value of these companies is known. Traditional practical property valuation methods are based on the analysis of incurred property development costs or financial indicators of activities and are inadequate to account for the influence of environment factors on corporate activities and, in turn, on the value of companies. An analysis model for environment factors affecting energy companies was developed to improve objectiveness of valuation; through analysis of the model's components it is possible to analyse external macro, meso and microenviron‐ment of a particular company and to assess efficiency of such environment, as well as the impact of separate factors on value. A criteria system developed using the Analysis Model for Environment Factors and the Decision Support System for Measurement of Effect of Environment Factors on Value of Energy Companies, which was developed by the authors, were used to solve a practical task, which helped to evaluate the effectiveness of the Model of Environment Factors. The practical task included measurement of the utility degree and market value of the selected electricity companies and assessment of the impact of the criteria, which affect the environment, on the value of the selected energy companies. An empirical analysis of agricultural economic growth factors yields the main factors affecting agricultural economic growth. Based on the Cobb-Douglas function, a regression model is established to analyze the impact of production factors such as capital and labor on agricultural economic growth. After empirical analysis, it is concluded that investment is the main factor affecting agricultural economic growth. In some provinces, agricultural economic growth still uses extensive economic growth and belongs to the type of increasing returns to scale. Based on the results, three suggestions are made to promote the steady and rapid growth of the agricultural economy: increase the input of fixed assets in agriculture and attract capital from all walks of life to the agricultural production; optimize the agricultural labor force and increase human resources training; adjust the industrial structure and develop modern agriculture.

The golden jubilee of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) coincides with the emergence of Asia as a centre of global attention. However, greater attention to Asia has been accompanied by some scepticism over its attitude towards human rights. The chapter provides an overall assessment of the impact of the ICCPR on the major Asian States, with an analysis of the factors affecting such influence. The chapter considers the involvement in, observance of, and compliance with the provisions of the ICCPR by these States. It further delves into the academic and judicial discourse on the ICCPR within these States, recording the domestic disposition towards judgments of foreign courts, the output of the Human Rights Committee, and the work of other international human rights bodies. It makes suggestions for developing mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of the ICCPR and for creating databases to perform further research in the area.
