This paper presents an in-depth analysis and research on the identification of psychological crisis signals of college students using the optimized Dufferin equation. The early warning index system of college students’ psychological crisis was established and tested on 300 junior college students, and the early warning system of college students’ psychological crisis was established by using structural equation model, focusing on the mediating effect of coping mode between stress source and stress response and the mediating effect of stress source between social support and stress response. At the same time, the characteristics of psychological crises among college students of different genders and grades were compared and analyzed. To address the shortcomings of the classical Dufferin equation with limited noise immunity, the use of a higher-order double-coupled Dufferin system was further improved. A detection model based on the higher-order double-coupled system was established, and its feasibility was verified by the psychological crisis signal. The geometric features of the phase trajectory are adopted as the basis for judging the system state, which greatly reduces the computational effort. Based on defining the conceptual connotation of college students’ psychological crisis behavior system, the vulnerability of college students’ psychological crisis behavior system is interpreted from the perspective of system self-organization theory, and the vulnerability of college students’ psychological crisis behavior is mainly expressed in latent and manifest states, and its vulnerability transformation is a self-organization process. A questionnaire survey was conducted for ordinary college students to examine the performance of college students’ vulnerability state of the subject who endured college students’ psychological crisis behavior, and it was concluded that most college students appear to be normal and healthy on the surface, but college students’ vulnerability is in an uncertain state of intermediate transition.

BACKGROUND Physical inactivity is a risk factor for chronic noncommunicable diseases. Insufficient physical activity has become an important public health problem worldwide. As mobile apps have rapidly developed, physical activity apps have the potential to improve the level of physical activity among populations. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the effect of physical activity apps on levels of physical activity among college students. METHODS A Web-based questionnaire was used to survey college students in Beijing from December 27, 2017, to January 5, 2018. According to a previous survey, 43% of college students using physical activity apps and 36% of those who never used such apps achieved the physical activity recommendations. In this study, the sample size was calculated to be 500. The questionnaire consisted of 5 parts: the use of physical activity apps, sports habits, social support, self-efficacy, and social demographic information. Structural equation modeling was used to test the relationships between the use of physical activity apps, self-efficacy, social support, and level of physical activity. RESULTS Of the 1245 participants, 384 college students (30.8%) used physical activity apps (in the past month). Of these 384 students, 191 (49.7%) gained new friends via the app. College students who were using physical activity apps had a higher level of physical activity and higher scores for social support and self-efficacy (<italic>P</italic>&lt;.001) than those who did not use such apps. The use of physical activity apps significantly affected the mediating effect of physical activity level through social support (beta=.126; <italic>P</italic>&lt;.001) and self-efficacy (beta=.294; <italic>P</italic>&lt;.001). Gender played an important role in app use, self-efficacy, and physical activity in the mediation model: male users spent more time on physical activity and had higher self-efficacy scores (<italic>P</italic>&lt;.001). CONCLUSIONS This study focused on college students in Beijing and found that the use of physical activity apps is associated with higher physical activity levels among these students. This effect is mainly through the mediation effect of social support and self-efficacy, rather than the direct effect of physical activity apps. The use of physical activity apps is associated with a higher social support level and higher self-efficacy score. Furthermore, a high social support level and high self-efficacy score are associated with higher physical activity levels.

This study investigated the relationships among resilience, social anxiety, and procrastination in a sample of college students. Specifically, structural equation modeling analyses were applied to examine the effect of resilience on procrastination and to test the mediating effect of social anxiety. The results of this study suggested that social anxiety partially mediated the relationship between resilience and procrastination. Students with higher levels of resilience reported a lower frequency of procrastination behavior, and resilience had an indirect effect on procrastination through social anxiety. The results of this study clarify the current knowledge of the mixed results on resilience and procrastination behaviors and offer practical learning strategies and psychological interventions.

Recent research has reported that evening-type and irregular sleep habits are related to physical and mental stress responses, particularly in female students. Results Multiple-mediation-model analysis indicated that commitment mediates the relationship between sleep pattern and anxiety. Meanwhile, cognitive appraisals, as a whole, were found to have a mediating effect on the relationship between sleep irregularity and depression. Conclusions Our study revealed that cognitive appraisals mediated the relationship between sleep habits and the stress response. The findings also suggest that maintaining a low level of commitment might be effective for reducing anxiety, especially considering the difficulty associated with changing lifestyles. The findings of the present study should be useful for health education related to lifestyle.

Introduction. In this study, an examination as to whether social withdrawal on the part of college students has an effect on satisfaction with college life is presented along with an analysis of the possible mediating effect of peer communication on social withdrawal and dissatisfac tion with college life. Material and Methods. A total of 1,220 college students were analysed using the 7th year data of the Korea Child and Youth Panel Survey conducted by Korea Youth Policy Institute in 2016. Analysis using SPSS 23 and AMOS 23 software programs was carried out, along with t-test, ANOVA and structural equation analysis. Results. A significant variation in satisfaction with college life according to demographic factors was noted. It was also found that social withdrawal has a direct impact on satisfaction with college life: the higher the degree of social withdrawal, the higher the satisfaction with college life. Moreover, social withdrawal increases satisfaction with college life as a function of peer communication. In other words, peer communication indirectly affects both social withdrawal and satisfaction with college life . Discussion and Conclusion. Based on the results of this study, practical suggestions are proposed for improving the life satisfaction of college students. Programs for improving peer communication and increasing social interaction should be developed for college students.

Introduction. Recent research has established a link between childhood abuse and later drug abuse. For waterpipe smoking (WPS), such a role has not been adequately clarified. Aims. To explore the mediating effect of resilience and mindfulness on the association between childhood abuse and current WPS among college students. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among a consecutive sample ( n = 776 ) of college students in Kerman, Iran. The Adverse Childhood Experiences Abuse Short Form, the 14-item Resilience Scale, and the Freiburg Mindfulness Inventory were used. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the complex associations between variables. Results. Nearly 95% of participants were aged between 18 and 27 years, and the mean (SD) age of students was 22.2 (3.1). Most of them were single (84.4), and 52.7% were female. Prevalence of lifetime and current WPS among students was 49.6% and 33.4%, respectively. Less than one-third ( n = 228 ) of lifetime users first tried smoking by the age of 18. The risk of current WPS was significantly higher in males than females ( β = 0.25 , P < 0.001 ). Childhood abuse was directly associated with current WPS ( β = 0.20 , P < 0.001 ) and resilience ( β = − 0.12 , P < 0.05 ). Adverse childhood experiences were also indirectly (mediated by the effect of the resilience, path coefficient = 0.06 , P < 0.001 ) associated with the risk of WPS. No relationship was seen between trait mindfulness and current WPS ( β = − 0.02 , P = 0.393 ). Resilience was negatively associated with current WPS ( β = − 0.47 , P < 0.001 ). Conclusion. The study revealed the potential importance of childhood abuse and low resilience as risk factors precipitating the onset of WPS. Further studies are warranted to examine the implications of this study for quitting WPS.

This paper aims at exploring the impact of Islamic human resource (HR) practices on organizational performance though organizational commitment. Data were collected from randomly selected 170 branch managers of six Islamic Banks listed on Dhaka Stock Exchange of Bangladesh. After collecting data, descriptive analysis and structural equation model were done to examine reliability and validity of the model. By analysis, the study finds that Islamic HR practices have more significant impact on organizational performance though organizational commitment rather than the direct effect of Islamic HR practices to organizational performance. The findings of the study advocate that Islamic banks should emphasize more on Islamic HR practices and organizational commitment to uphold their organizational performance.
