In this article, a modified single-phase five-level photovoltaic inverter is proposed with a single DC voltage source and six semiconductor switches. Compared with the presented inverters, the introduced topology has the advantage of decreased device count and the first switching frequency for high blocking voltage switches. The proposed PV inverter is implemented without clamping diodes and transformers, which leads to a decrement in size and, consequently, the weight of the converter. In addition, for the proposed topology, space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) is deployed that reduces the complexity of multilevel modulation. In order to obtain the optimal output voltage of the inverter, the deadbeat controller is suggested as a rapid dynamic, low-computation digital control method. This closed-loop inverter is implemented in TMS320f28335 digital signal controller to evaluate the performance of the proposed inverter under nonlinear and linear loads. Simulation and laboratory prototype results show that IEC 62040-3 harmonic constraints is met for the proposed photovoltaic inverter in standalone applications.

In this paper, a hybrid control strategy for power converters, based on improved deadbeat control (DBC) and improved finite control set model predictive control (MPC), is proposed. The presented control strategy employs a switched method to achieve a fixed switching frequency while maintaining a fast transient time. Moreover, the proposal incorporates error correction to achieve superior robustness. A prototype of a single-phase voltage source rectifier is established to verify the performance of the proposal. The comparative results with conventional MPC are given and illustrate the merits of the proposed control method.

Increases in the occurrence of nonlinear loads have resulted in the need to reduce or minimize the levels of harmonic currents being injected into the power supply. As a consequence, active current waveshaping and pulse-width modulation have now replaced conventional phase-controlled and diode bridge rectifiers in many applications. In this paper, mathematical models are developed for the power circuits of analog controlled single-phase and three-phase voltage source converters, and then used to analyse the performance of current- and voltage-control loops for the converters. Analytical expressions are derived for the gains and time constants of the current and voltage controllers, and it is shown that the bandwidth of the current-loop is a function of the switching frequency, and that of the voltage-loop is a function of the DC-busbar capacitance and the voltage filter cut-off frequency. To illustrate the application of the models, simulation results are presented from investigations into the control of a 5 kW single-phase voltage-source converter and a 100 kW three-phase boost converter.

AbstractMultilevel inverters play an important role in extracting the power from renewable energy resources and delivering the output voltage with high quality to the load. This paper proposes a new single-stage switched capacitor nine-level inverter, which comprises an improved T-type inverter, auxiliary switch, and switched cell unit. The proposed topology effectively reduces the DC-link capacitor voltage and exhibits superior performance over recently switched-capacitor inverter topologies in terms of the number of power components and blocking voltage of the switches. A level-shifted multilevel pulse width modulation scheme with a modified triangular carrier wave is implemented to produce a high-quality stepped output voltage waveform with low switching frequency. The proposed nine-level inverter’s effectiveness, driven by the recommended modulation technique, is experimentally verified under varying load conditions. The power loss and efficiency for the proposed nine-level inverter are thoroughly discussed with different loads.

Now a day‟s, Photo Voltaic (PV) power generation rapidly increasing. This power generation highly depending on the temperature and irradiation. When this power interface with grid through the voltage source inverter with PI controller. Its gains should be updated due to the parametric changes for the better performance. In This Work Fuzzy Controller updates the gains of the proportional integral (PI)s Controller under variable parametric conditions. the gaines of the PI Controller are updated based on the error current and change in error current through the fuzzy controller. The error current in direct and quadrature frame are the Inputs to the PI controller. The PI Controller generates the reference voltage to the pulse width modulation technique. Here reference voltage is compared with the carrier signal to generate the pulses to the 3-Ph Inverter connected to the grid. This controller has given well dynamic response with less steady state error and also given The less THD of the grid current compared to the PI and Fuzzy controller. It Is implemented and verified in MATLAB Simulink.

The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is commonly used as traction motors in the electric traction applications such as in subway train. The subway train is better transport vehicle due to its advantages of security, economic, health and friendly with nature. Braking is defined as removal of the kinetic energy stored in moving parts of machine. The plugging braking is the best braking offered and has the shortest time to stop. The subway train is a heavy machine and has a very high moment of inertia requiring a high braking torque to stop. The plugging braking is an effective method to provide a fast stop to the train. In this paper plugging braking system of the PMSM used in the subway train in normal and fault-tolerant operation is made. The model of the PMSM, three-phase Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) controlled using Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation technique (SVPWM), Field Oriented Control method (FOC) for independent control of two identical PMSMs and fault-tolerant operation is presented. Simulink model of the plugging braking system of PMSM in normal and fault tolerant operation is proposed using Matlab/Simulink software. Simulation results for different cases are given.

Direct power control (DPC) of pulse width modulation (PWM) is often used to control the instantaneous power of rectifiers. The instantaneous power contains both grid voltage and current information, and its value is not affected by coordinate transformation. It is constant in steady state and reflects the DC control characteristics. However, the switching frequency of traditional DPC is not fixed, the DC voltage has static error, and the system fluctuates greatly. In this work, we introduce the concept of stator flux of the AC motor into the PWM rectifier. Combined with the space vector PWM (SVPWM) technology, we use the virtual flux estimation method to obtain the instantaneous power value, which saves the grid voltage sensor, eliminates the static difference of DC voltage. Furthermore, considering that the neural proportion integral differential (PID) control depends heavily on the initial weight coefficient of the network, we use chaos particle swarm optimization (CPSO) algorithm, which combines the basic PSO algorithm and chaos theory to optimize the initial weight coefficient of neural PID control. In the experiment, the results prove that the performance of the controller can be effectively improved.

<p><span>The study made in this paper concerns the use of the voltage-oriented control (VOC) of three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifier with constant switching frequency. This control method, called voltage-oriented controlwith space vector modulation (VOC-SVM). The proposed control scheme has been founded on the transformation between stationary (α-β) and and synchronously rotating (d-q) coordinate system, it is based on two cascaded control loops so that a fast inner loop controls the grid current and an external loop DC-link voltage, while the DC-bus voltage is maintained at the desired level and ansured the unity power factor operation. So, the stable state performance and robustness against the load’s disturbance of PWM rectifiers are boths improved. The proposed scheme has been implemented and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The control system of the VOC-SVM strategy has been built based on dSPACE system with DS1104 controller board. The results obtained show the validity of the model and its control method. Compared with the conventional SPWM method, the VOC-SVM ensures high performance and fast transient response.</span></p>
