To study the stability of a transition section of a tunnel from soft to hard surrounding rock under seepage conditions, FLAC3D software was used to numerically simulate the transition section of the Laomushan Tunnel from the Shiqian to Yuping (Dalong) Expressways in Guizhou Province, China, and to explore different working conditions. The characterization of the tunnel seepage field, stress field, and displacement field and the analysis of the force of the primary lining support structure describe the influence of the seepage field on the stress field distribution and displacement field changes. The reliability of the calculation results is verified by comparison with displacement measurements collected during field monitoring. The design values of the primary support structure parameters of the transition section from soft to hard surrounding rock of the Laomushan Tunnel basically met the strength requirements. The research results provide references for the design and construction of similar projects.

The water inrush of the Shangjiawan karst tunnel is used to study the evolution pattern of precursor water inrush information in water-filled caves and to further reveal the matching mode of the information. The three-dimensional numerical method FLAC3D was used to simulate the evolution process of water inrush after damage to a water-blocking rock mass structure in a water-filled cave and to obtain the evolution pattern of precursor water-inrush information caused by the damage. The results show that the multifield response to the characteristic precursor information of the water-inrush pattern after the fracture of the water-blocking rock mass follows the order of stress-field displacement-field seepage-field. Further, the matching pattern of the information shows that the stress field increased first and then decreased, the displacement field always increased, and the seepage field increased first and then decreased.

Taking Chaijiazhuang Tunnel of Lingnan Expressway as project background, the stability analysis of surrounding rock was performed based on the coupled fluid-solid theory. The distributions of stress field, displacement field and plastic zone of rock mass after excavation of tunnel were discussed considering coupled effect between flow and stress under the condition of different rock level and tunnel depth. Compared with the calculation results of not considering coupling effect, the maximum deformation, maximum principle stress and plastic zone size of wall rock were obviously increased when considering coupling effect, which showed a remarkable influence of coupled fluid-solid effect on the stability of tunnel surrounding rock. Some conclusions were drawn and may provide some guidance to the design and construction of tunnels in water-rich strata.

The stability of tunnel surrounding rock is a key scientific issue in the design and construction of the tunnel engineering. Taking the load pattern of incremental form, the distribution law of stress and displacement field of the Osaka mountain tunnel after excavation was calculated based on the D-P yield criterion; Basing on the comprehensive heat and mass transfer theory, the temperature field in the surrounding rock was calculated and the variation of stress and displacement field after the surrounding rock experiencing the free-thaw cycles. All of the results can provide some references for the design and safe construction of the tunnel engineering under the action of freeze-thaw environment in cold regions.

As the excavation of tunnels, there are new channels of the groundwater drainage. The original supply of the circulatory system has been destroyed. The effects of groundwater to rock mass of surrounding rock are aggravated. In this paper, combined with a new highway tunnel project, the model is built according to the design parameters and the site engineering geological conditions of the tunnel. The fluid-structure interaction module of the finite difference software FLAC3D is used for the research on tunnel excavation. The distribution of seepage field, the stability of surrounding rock and rock deformation under saturated conditions during the tunnel excavation have been analyzed. The simulation results have certain guiding meaning on fracture development, the stability design of tunnels in water-rich stratum and the design and construction of anti-drainage.

In order to research the stability of excavation in deep mines under high ground stress, high rock temperature and high karst hydraulic, the interaction of stress field, seepage field and temperature field are discussed through basic constitutive relation, seepage equation, thermometer equation and coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical equation. A numerical model was built to simulate the excavation of deep roadway. The result shows that the simulated ground stress based on three fields coupled is much closer to the field measured value and the change of stress and displacement caused by the excavation are limited which is about same as the later monitoring.

In order to study the optimal coal pillar width and surrounding rock control mechanism of gob-side entry under inclined seam condition, the 130205 return air entry adjacent to 130203 gob in Yangchangwan No. 1 well is taken as a typical engineering background. By means of engineering background analysis, theoretical analysis based on inside and outside stress field, numerical simulation by FLAC3D software, and in situ industrial test and relevant monitoring methods, the optimal coal pillar width and surrounding rock control technology are obtained. The results show that the influence range of inside stress field is about 12.2∼12.8 m based on theoretical calculation result; under the influence of 10 m coal column, the overall deformation of the roadway is relatively small and within the reasonable range of engineering construction, so the width of the coal pillar along the return air roadway is set to 10 m which is more reasonable; the cross-section characteristics of special-shaped roadway lead to asymmetric stress distribution and fragmentation of surrounding rock, and then the asymmetric surrounding rock control technology under the coupling effect of roof prestressed anchor + high-strength single anchor cable + truss anchor cable support is proposed. The monitoring results of this support method are effective for the maintenance of gob-side entry, and the study conclusions provide new guidance for the surrounding rock control mechanism of gob-side entry under inclined seam conditions.

Abstract Reasonable roadway layout is the fundamental measure to reduce the difficulty of roadway support and improve the stability of surrounding rock. The particle swarm optimization and analytic hierarchy process (PSO-AHP) algorithm of reasonable layout of roadway under the three-dimensional field was proposed, and an engineering verification was carried out in Weijiadi coal mine. The results showed that, The dip angle α1 and azimuth angle α2 affect the distribution of the deviatoric stress of the roadway surrounding rock. Under different stress field, the sensitivity of surrounding rock to α1 and α2 are different. Changing the more sensitive layout parameters can minimize the deviatoric stress and improve the stability of roadway. The PSO-AHP optimization algorithm takes the deviatoric stress as the index to calculate the layout parameters of different parts of the roadway, and then determines the optimal layout parameters through the evaluation function. The roadway of 1104 working face was arranged with the optimal parameters obtained by PSO-AHP optimization algorithm. Compared with the original layout scheme, the deviatoric stress of surrounding rock was reduced and the position of maximum deviatoric stress is transferred. The optimum layout of roadway was combined with an asymmetric support which had a good application effect.

In the decision making of tunnel excavation and support scheme, stability analysis of surrounding rock-support structure is an essential link. Especially in fractured weak zone under complex geological condition, accurately measuring the deformation of support structure has an important significance for fast and safe construction. Based on the application of convergence confinement principle in judging tunnel deformation, this paper presented a new idea of using the ultimate displacement of tunnel initial support to analyze the stability of tunnel surrounding rock-support structure. Then, with a full investigation on the deformation and failure characteristics of highway tunnel surrounding rock at fractured weak zone, the ultimate displacement was got by using methods of numerical calculation and site monitoring measurement. Finally, the stability analysis of support structure in Zhongxing Tunnel was done. It can be arrived that there is a certain gap between true value u and measured value um of surrounding rock deformation. If the measuring points are installed after three excavation cycle, u is approximately equal to 1.6 um. then, based on the analysis of numerical simulation results and monitoring data of Zhongxing Tunnel, the paper indicated that the top and spring of arch are risk regions, reserved deformation of fractured weak zone is not enough, it should be adjusted from 10cm to 20cm.

Combined with engineering conditions of the III-level south roadway of Yangzhuang Mine, the deformation of surrounding rock and mechanical characteristics of support structure is analyzed by FLAC3D numerical simulation when the roadway is supported by CFSTS support program . The results shows that: For the weak mudstone surrounding rock and complex geological conditions, the deformation of surrounding rock is fast, large and unsymmetrical deformation, the bolt-net-shotcrete support is difficult to maintain the roadway stability. the CFSTS used Φ219 ×8mm steel tube filled with C50 core concrete, which provides powerful supporting force combined with other roadway support ways and restrict surrounding rock to the roadway space. By FLAC3D simulation analysis shows, the deformation of surrounding rock is small and support structure is mad good use and keep work, which can maintain the stability of roadway.
