In the process of research on the flow velocity distribution in a partially filled pipe, the under-sampling of measurement data often occurs. For the first time, this problem is solved by the improved non-uniform B-spline curve fitting approximation (NBSC) method. The main innovation of this method is to reconstruct the flow velocity distribution fitting curve with a small amount of non-uniform feature points containing flow velocity information. First, the curvature of a whole discrete sampled data is analyzed, then the weighted threshold is set, and the sampled points that satisfy the threshold are extracted as the initial velocity distribution feature points. Next the node vectors were constructed according to the initial feature points, and the initial interpolation fitting curves are generated. Secondly, by using the relative deviation between the initial approximation curve and each sampled point, new feature points were added where the curve allowable deviation exceeded the specified tolerance, and then a new interpolation fitting curve was obtained. The above procedure was repeated until the fitting curve reached expected accuracy, thus the appropriate feature points were determined. Experimental results showed that, in the case of the same approximation deviation, the proposed NBSC method can solve the problem of under-sampling of measurement data better.

We propose a markerless image alignment method for pressure-sensitive paint measurement data replacing the time-consuming conventional alignment method in which the black markers are placed on the model and are detected manually. In the proposed method, feature points are detected by a boundary detection method, in which the PSP boundary is detected using the Moore-Neighbor tracing algorithm. The performance of the proposed method is compared with the conventional method based on black markers, the difference of Gaussian (DoG) detector, and the Hessian corner detector. The results by the proposed method and the DoG detector are equivalent to each other. On the other hand, the performances of the image alignment using the black marker and the Hessian corner detector are slightly worse compared with the DoG and the proposed method. The computational cost of the proposed method is half of that of the DoG method. The proposed method is a promising for the image alignment in the PSP application in the viewpoint of the alignment precision and computational cost.

To enhance the exhaust efficiency during ventilation, three types of air duct outlets were imported. According to the characteristics of velocity distribution simulated by numerical method, the flow field is divided into the mixing zone and the exhaust zone. The gradual contracted air duct outlet can enhance the mixing effect between fresh air and smoke. In the exhaust zone, however, the flow velocity on the upper section of the tunnel is weakened, which is unfavorable for smoke exhaust. Gradual expanded air duct outlet, on the contrary, may weaken the concentration effect of the airflow. The flow velocity on the upper section of the tunnel is increased in the exhaust zone, thus the flow field is more homogenized, which is in favor of smoke exhaust.

As a clean, low-carbon, and green hydraulic transportation technology, wheeled capsule pipeline hydraulic transportation is a transportation mode conducive to the sustainable development of the social economy. Based on the method of a physical model experiment and hydraulic theory, the flow velocity characteristics in the pipeline when the wheeled capsule with a length–diameter ratio of 2.5 and 2.14, respectively, was transported in the straight pipe section with an inner diameter of 100 mm were studied in this paper. The results show that in the process of transporting materials, the flow velocity distribution of the cross section near the upstream and downstream section of the capsule was basically the same, and the axial velocity was smaller in the middle of the pipe and larger near the inner wall of the pipe. The radial velocity distribution was more thinly spread near the pipe wall and denser near the center of the pipe. The circumferential flow velocity was distributed in the vicinity of the support body of the wheeled capsule. For any annular gap section around the wheeled capsule, the radial velocity of annular gap flow was very small, and the average radial velocity of annular gap flow was about 1/30 of the average axial velocity of annular gap flow and about 0.7 of the average circumferential velocity of annular gap flow. The axial, circumferential, and radial flow velocities on the same radius measuring ring changed with the polar axis in a wave pattern of alternating peaks and troughs. These results can provide the theoretical basis for optimizing structural parameters of the wheeled capsule.
