The study compares subjective experiences of patients, wearing complete dentures. Two different methods of determining a centric relation were performed: the traditional method using wax occlusal rims and the Gerber method, based on gothic arch tracings. The success rate of establishing a centric relation in both methods was evaluated (rentgenodiagnostics). The influence of the method used to obtain the centric relation on patients’ stomatognathic system (condyle centralization, pain) was also evaluated. Better results were achieved in gothic arch tracing method. Before every prosthetic treatment of edentulous patients, a functional analysis of the TMJ is necessary. The lack of centric relation, in a long term adaptation patients, does not lead to TMD symptoms. This trial is registered with NCT03343015.

The aim of the present study was to evidence the improved behavior of our modified PMMA-TiO2 nanocomposite material used to obtain 3D printed complete dentures. A protocol for long-term rapid prototyping complete denture manufacturing using our nanocomposite material, completely characterized and the evaluation of the clinical performance and complications after eighteen months of continuous wearing was also described. Thirty-five fully edentulous patients were enrolled in this prospective clinical study and forty-five complete dentures (31 maxillary and 14 mandibular) have been obtained using an additive manufacturing technology. Due to the good performances of the nanocomposite material, no major functional complications for the obtained medical devices occurred and the clinical outcomes for the 3D printed dentures were favorable evaluated at eighteen months follow up.

Abstract Numerous long-term studies have shown that treatment with dental implants can provide edentulous patients with a more stable alternative to complete dentures and partially edentulous patients with a more conservative form of tooth replacement than conventional fixed partial dentures. Until recently, commercially available dental implants have been limited to diameters ranging from 3.0 mm to 7.0 mm. Although this range of diameters has been able to address most clinical needs, partially edentulous patients who could not accommodate a 3.0-mm-diameter implant without damaging adjacent dental structures were excluded from implant therapy. This article reports on the surgical treatment and immediate restoration of a patient who received mini implants that were 2.4 mm in diameter.

Patients presenting with flabby or displaceable tissue continue to challenge even the most competent dental practitioners A fibrous or flabby ridge is a superficial area of mobile soft tissue affecting the maxillary or mandibular alveolar ridges. It can develop when hyperplastic soft tissue replaces the alveolar bone and is a common finding particularly in the upper anterior region of long-term denture wearers. Masticatory forces can displace this mobile denture-bearing tissue, leading to altered denture positioning and loss of peripheral seal. Under compression, the denture bearing area will exhibit localised mobility around the flabby tissue. Unless managed appropriately, such “flabby ridges” adversely affect the support, retention, and stability of complete dentures. Many impression techniques have been proposed to help overcome this difficulty Selective impression techniques have long been used in such cases, ensuring the displaceable tissue is recorded 'at rest'. Subsequently, the denture will maintain its peripheral seal during function This article presents a case report for prosthodontic rehabilitation of a patient with flabby ridge with a window tray impression technique, modified with dual trays.

An 80-year-old man sought treatment at our hospital. He was dissatisfied with his old complete denture due to its poor stability and retention. The old complete denture had been used for about 20 years. The prolonged use of an unsuitable complete denture led the patient to be accustomed to unilateral mastication (UM). Due to the patient long-term habitual mandibular deviation, using the physiological technique to get the centric relation (CR) achieved an incorrect horizontal maxillomandibular record. This clinical report presents a technique using the existing complete denture mounted with a Gothic arch tracer to determine the CR. This technique is an inexpensive, simple, and reliable method that allows fabricating the final impression and obtaining the maxillomandibular relationship record (MMRR) in one step.

Effective teaching plays very significant role in acquiring knowledge with long term impact and remembrance. In teaching process many times we focus on factual recall rather than reasoning skills or understanding something better where learners are not actively involved. In this study students of 3rd phase BAMS were taught Aamottpatti Siddhant by Traditional Method (Tree Diagram) versus Audio-Visual Method. Student were familiar of traditional method of teaching however after introducing audio visual method, interest in lecture was increased in students. Audio visual method can be associated with the traditional type of teaching method. Teaching by Audio visual method is interesting to student as well as teachers.

Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the effect of mandibular complete dentures relining using soft relining material on the distribution of various occlusal forces using T-Scan system. Fifty completely edentulous patients having their conventional complete dentures earlier fabricated and utilized were selected for this study. Patients were controlled diabetics, characterized by having their residual alveolar ridges moderately developed and lined with firm mucoperiosteum. Mandibular complete dentures were relined with soft denture liner and T-Scan device was used for occlusal force distribution measurement prior to denture relining and three months thereafter the relinning procedure. Results Comparison between occlusal forces percentages before and after denture relining revealed that occlusal forces percentages was significantly lower after denture relining in anterior area, significantly higher after denture relining in right posterior area, where it was insignificantly higher after relining in left posterior area. Conclusions Our findings revealed that the use of soft denture liner for mandibular complete denture relining significantly improved the occlusal load distribution.
