This work considers two-phase flow of an elastic-viscous fluid for double-layer coating of wire. The wet-on-wet (WOW) coating process is used in this study. The analytical solution of the theoretical model is obtained by Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method (OHAM). The expression for the velocity field and temperature distribution for both layers is obtained. The convergence of the obtained series solution is established. The analytical results are verified by Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM). The obtained velocity field is compared with the existing exact solution of the same flow problem of second-grade fluid and with analytical solution of a third-grade fluid. Also, emerging parameters on the solutions are discussed and appropriate conclusions are drawn.

This paper addresses the numerical simulation of two-phase flow heat transfer in the helically coiled tubes of an integral type pressurized water reactor steam generator under normal operation using a computational fluid dynamics code. The shell-side flow field where a single-phase fluid flows in the downward direction is also calculated in conjunction with the tube-side two-phase flow characteristics. For the calculation of tube-side two-phase flow, the inhomogeneous two-fluid model is used. Both the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute wall boiling model and the bulk boiling model are implemented for the numerical simulations of boiling-induced two-phase flow in a vertical straight pipe and channel, and the computed results are compared with the available measured data. The conjugate heat transfer analysis method is employed to calculate the conduction in the tube wall with finite thickness and the convections in the internal and external fluids simultaneously so as to match the fluid-wall-fluid interface conditions properly. Both the internal and external turbulent flows are simulated using the standard k-ε model. From the results of the present numerical simulation, it is shown that the bulk boiling model can be applied to the simulation of two-phase flow in the helically coiled steam generator tubes. In addition, the present simulation method is considered to be physically plausible in the light of discussions on the computed results.

Gas-solid two-phase flow of the quick-contact cyclone reactor used in FCC was simulated with the multi fluid Eulerian model, especially the velocity field and volume fraction of solid in the mixing chamber was researched. The results show that flow pattern and catalyst particles concentration are non-uniform in the direction of axial, radial and tangential. The tangential gas admission increases turbulent intensity, it has a great benefit on spreading the catalyst particles uniformly, enhancing gas-solid contact effect. This work could offer a base for the structure optimization of the quick-contact reactor.

This paper addresses the numerical simulation of two phase flow heat transfer in the helically coiled tubes of an integral type pressurized water reactor steam generator under normal operation using a CFD code. The single phase flow which flow downward direction in the shell side is also calculated together. For the calculation of tube side two-phase flow the inhomogeneous two-fluid model is used. Both the RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) wall boiling model and the bulk boiling model are implemented for the numerical simulation and the computed results are compared with the available measured data. The conjugate heat transfer analysis method is employed to calculate the conduction in the tube wall with finite thickness and the convections in the internal and external fluids simultaneously so as to match the fluid-wall-fluid interface conditions properly. Both the internal and external turbulent flows are simulated using the standard k-ε model From the results of present numerical simulation, it is shown that the bulk boiling model can be applied to the simulation of two-phase flow in the helically coiled steam generator tubes. The results also show that the present simulation method is considered to be physically plausible when the computed results are compared with available previous experimental and numerical studies.

In a nuclear power plant, one of the important issues is an evaluation of the safety of the reactor core and its pipes when an earthquake occurs. Many researchers have conducted studies on constructions of plants. Consequently, there is some knowledge about earthquake-resisting designs. However the influence of an earthquake vibration on thermal fluid inside a nuclear reactor plant is not fully understood. Especially, there is little knowledge how coolant in a core response when large earthquake acceleration is added. Some studies about the response of fluid to the vibration were carried out. And it is supposed that the void fraction and/or the power of core are fluctuated with the oscillation by the experiments and numerical analysis. However the detailed mechanism about a kinetic response of gas and liquid phases is not enough investigated, therefore the aim of this study is to clarify the influence of vibration of construction on bubbly flow behavior. In order to investigate the influence of vibration of construction on bubbly flow behavior, we visualized bubbly flow in pipeline on which sine wave was applied. In a test section, bubbly flow was produced by injecting gas into liquid flow through a horizontal circular pipe. In order to vibrate the test section, an oscillating table was used. The frequency and acceleration of vibration added from the oscillating table was from 1.0 Hz to 10 Hz and . 0.4 G (1 G=9.8 m/s2) at each frequency. The test section and a high speed video camera were fixed on the oscillating table. Thus the relative velocity between the camera and the test section was ignored. PIV measurement was also conducted to investigate interaction between bubble motion and surround in flow structure. Liquid pressure was also measured at upstream and downstream of the test section. The effects of oscillation on bubbly flow were quantitatively evaluated by these pressure measurements and the velocity field. In the results, it was observed that the difference of bubble motion by changing oscillation frequency. Moreover it was suggested that the bubble deformation is correlated with the fluctuation of liquid velocity field around the bubble and the pressure gradient in the flow area. In addition, these experimental results were compared with numerical simulation by a detailed two-phase flow simulation code with an advanced interface tracking method, TPFIT. Numerical simulation was qualitatively agreed with experimental results.

The most important plastic resins used for wire coating are Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Nylon, Polysulfone and Low-high density polyethylene (LDPE / HDPE). In this article, the coating process is performed using elastic-viscous fluid as a coating material for wire coating in a pressure type coating die. The elastic-viscous fluid is electrically conducted in the presence of an applied magnetic field. The governing non-linear equations are modeled and then solved analytically by utilizing an Adomian decomposition method (ADM). The convergence of the series solution is established. The results are also verified by Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method (OHAM). The effect of different emerging parameters such as non-Newtonian parameters α and β, magnetic parameter M and the Brinkman number Br on solutions (velocity and temperature profiles) are discussed through several graphs. Additionally, the current result also compares with the published work already available in the literature.
