In this paper, A coplanar waveguide (CPW) ultra-wideband(UWB) antenna is designed, analyzed and simulated by computer simulation technology(CST). The proposed antenna is fabricated on FR-4 dielectric substrate. A microstrip feed line is used to excite the antenna. The ground plane is slotted to improve the impedance bandwidth (BW). Here, a rectangular patch is used as radiator and two corners out of four are truncated to improve impedance matching and UWB characterization. This antenna satisfies UWB characteristics like VSWR<2, Return loss(S11)<-10 dB,Gain<5dB and the antenna is operating within the frequency range of 1.59 to 11.87 GHz range which covers whole ultra wideband i.e. 3.1 to 10.6 GHz range.

An ultra-wideband (UWB) printed antenna with dual band-notched characteristic is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of a semi-circular patch fed by a tapered coplanar waveguide (CPW) and an unclosed ground plane, which are printed onto the same side of a FR4 printed circuit board (PCB) with an overall size of 30 mm × 30 mm × 1.5 mm. By embedding a simple arc-shaped slot in the patch and adding a T-shaped strip on the top of the patch, two notched frequency bands for rejection of WiMAX and WLAN system can be realized. The characteristics of the proposed antenna are investigated by using the software HFSS and validated experimentally, both simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna prototype achieves good impedance matching over an frequency band from 2.1011.40 GHz for VSWR2 with two notched bands over the frequency range of 5-5.95 GHz and 3.1-3.9 GHz. Furthermore, a relatively stable gain and suitable radiation patterns are also achieved in both lower and upper UWB frequency band.

A new compact planar notched ultrawideband (UWB) antenna is designed for wireless communication application. The proposed antenna has a compact size of0.182λ × 0.228λ × 0.018λwhereλis the wavelength of the lowest operating frequency. The antenna is comprised of rectangular radiating patch, ground plane, and an arc-shaped strip in between radiating patch and feed line. By introducing a new Tuning Fork-shaped notch in the radiating plane, a stopband is obtained. The antenna is tested and measured. The measured result indicated that fabricated antenna has achieved a wide bandwidth of 4.33–13.8 GHz (at −10 dB return loss) with a rejection frequency band of 5.28–6.97 GHz (WiMAX, WLAN, and C-band). The effects of the parameters of the antenna are discussed. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed antenna can well meet the requirement for the UWB communication in spite of its compactness and small size.

In this paper, a rotated E-slot antenna with modified coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding is presented to obtain broadband characteristics. The antenna comprises of a planar rectangular patch element embedded with E-slot rotated 90° anticlockwise on the radiating side. The CPW feed is modified by extending the ground plane throughout the substrate to surround the rectangular patch. This structure is capable of generating three separate resonant modes with good impedance matching. The antenna is designed on an FR4 substrate of 1.6 mm thickness, covering bands from 3.4 to 3.6 GHz for LTE and 3.4–3.694 GHz for worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) systems. The proposed antenna provides good return loss S11and impedance behavior.

An ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna for diversity applications is introduced. The overall structure of the antenna consists of two similar coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed stepped rectangular slots placed in an orthogonal position. The slots are asymmetric with respect to their placement in the ground plane. The CPW feeds are double stepped and terminated on hexagonal patches for better impedance matching. A wide impedance bandwidth (measured) from 3 to 12 GHz with an isolation better than 15 dB is obtained with this antenna. To improve the isolation, the design is modified and an I-shaped slot strip is introduced between the two slot antennas. With this, the isolation is brought about 25 dB of most of the band, while the impedance bandwidth remains the same (2.8–12 GHz for port 1, measured and 2.9–12 GHz for port 2, measured). The far-field radiation patterns are also measured and a peak gain of about 5 dBi is obtained. Finally, the diversity parameters such as envelope correlation coefficient and capacity loss are calculated and found to have low values. The antenna is expected to be useful for UWB diversity applications with good isolation.

A simple and a compact coplanar waveguide (CPW) ultrawide band (UWB) antenna is presented. Multiband stop function is achieved by two different types of band stop resonators. One is a tilted square spiral slot resonator of different size and length etched on the patch and the other is a coupled resonator etched on the ground plane. These resonators provide considerable increase in notch bandwidth at the stop bands. The proposed antenna has a total size of18×20.3 mm2. The designed antenna achieves pass band performance at 1.8–2.1 GHz (15.38%), 3.0–3.2 GHz (6.45%), 4.4–4.7 GHz (6.59%), 6.3-6.4 GHz (1.57%), and 8–11.2 GHz (33.33%) where VSWR <2 and four stop bands at 2.4–2.8 GHz (15.38%), 3.2–3.7 GHz (14.49%), 5.5–6 GHz (8.69%), and 6.5–7 GHz (7.40%) where VSWR is equal to 10. The antenna has a peak gain of 3.8 dBi. The measured results show that the antenna achieves good impedance matching and consistent radiation patterns over an operating bandwidth.

Abstract The paper presents a 1 × 2 B-shaped antenna array for dual-band operation at 4 and 8 GHz. The antenna design consists of a rectangular patch with two annular-strip lines fabricated on the top layer and finite ground plane on the bottom layer. The array is formed by designing an optimum T-shaped microstrip line for impedance matching. The dimensions of the antenna array are 78 × 36 × 1.6 mm3. Full-wave simulations have been conducted and the measured results are in good consent with the simulated results. The measured impedance bandwidth (reference −10 dB) has been observed at 3.84–4.16 and 7.78–8.38 GHz. Measured peak gain and radiation efficiency at 4 and 8 GHz are 8.3, 9.4 dB and 82.5 and 81.2%, respectively.

In this paper, a novel circular slotted rectangular patch antenna with three triangle shape Defected Ground Structure (DGS) has been proposed. Radiating patch is made by cutting circular slots of radius 3 mm from the three sides and center of the conventional rectangular patch structure and three triangle shape defects are presented on the ground layer. The size of the proposed antenna is 38 X 25 mm2. Optimization is performed and simulation results have been obtained using Empire XCcel 5.51 software. Thus, a miniaturized antenna is designed which has three impedance bandwidths of 0.957 GHz,  0.779 GHz, 0.665 GHz with resonant frequencies at 3.33 GHz, 6.97 GHz and 8.59 GHz and the corresponding return loss at the three resonant frequencies are -40 dB, -43 dB and -38.71 dB respectively. A prototype is also fabricated and tested. Fine agreement between the measured and simulated results has been obtained. It has been observed that introducing three triangle shape defects on the ground plane results in increased bandwidth, less return loss, good radiation pattern and better impedance matching over the required operating bands which can be used for wireless applications and future 5G applications.

A small dual-band monopole antenna with coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding structure is presented in this paper. The antenna is composed of a meandered monopole, an extended conductor tail, and an asymmetrical ground plane. Tuning geometrical structure of the ground plane excites an additional resonant frequency band and thus enhances the impedance bandwidth of the meandered monopole antenna. Unlike the conventional monopole antenna, the new resonant mode is excited by a slot trace of the CPW transmission line. The radiation performance of the slot mode is as similar as that of the monopole. The parametrical effect of the size of the one-side ground plane on impedance matching condition has been derived by the simulation. The measured impedance bandwidths, which are defined by the reflection coefficient of −6 dB, are 186 MHz (863–1049 MHz, 19.4%) at the lower resonant band and 1320 MHz (1490–2810 MHz, 61.3%) at the upper band. From the results of the reflection coefficients of the proposed monopole antenna, the operated bandwidths of the commercial wireless communication systems, such as GSM 900, DCS, IMT-2000, UMTS, WLAN, LTE 2300, and LTE 2500, are covered for uses.
