In compact spinning, fibers in drawing stage are condensed using air suction, which results in the produced yarns which significantly differ from ring spun yarns in their physical and mechanical properties. This study compares between physical properties of compact and ring yarn fabrics woven from coarser and medium yarn counts. The experimental results were statistically analyzed using ANOVA. The findings of this study revealed that woven fabrics produced from compact spun yarns are superior to those produced from ring spun yarns with respect to breaking strength, breaking elongation, abrasion resistance, tearing strength, and air permeability.

The main aim of this paper is to estimate the influence of finishing to the permeability of woven fabrics made of multifilament threads. The property of the textile permeability is closely connected with the geometric structure of the given textile materials. A very small change in the structure of the fabric at a given location causes a change in the permeability at this location. Such a change in the structure may be due to the finishing of fabric. A demanded requirement in several applications areas of textiles is the homogeneity of their physical and mechanical properties. The laboratory measurement of the fabric permeability is very suitable for assessment of uniformity across the fabric area, because the test is very simple and non-destructive. In this research a set of polyamide and polyester multifilament woven fabrics was used. These fabrics were available both in the gray state and with the various types of applied finishes.

The uses of recycled materials have gained massive importance in the textile sector and other application areas as the effects of reducing natural resources are felt worldwide. This study aimed to analyze the effects of recycled fiber usage on the properties of OE-rotor spun yarns and hand-woven fabrics produced from these yarns. For this purpose, OE-rotor yarns are produced at different proportion levels from virgin cotton and recycled fibers derived from knitted garment wastes at 25%, 50%, and 75%, respectively. For a better assessment, properties of OE-rotor yarns that contain recycled fibers and 100% virgin cotton OE-rotor yarns are compared. Physical, structural, and mechanical properties such as unevenness, imperfections, hairiness, breaking force, and elongation are analyzed by Uster Tester 5 SX, Uster Zweigle Hairiness Tester 5, and Uster Tensorapid 3. Plain and twill hand-woven fabrics are produced from OE-rotor spun yarns. Effects of recycled fiber proportion on hand-woven fabric properties such as pilling, abrasion resistance, and air permeability were also evaluated. Results showed that the use of up to 75% of recycled fiber cotton blended yarns shows no statistically significant differences in yarn and fabric properties.

Timber Acacia mangium (Acacia mangium, Willd) for Furniture. The study aims to determine the mechanical and physical properties and the decorative value (color and fiber) wood of acacia mangium with using finishing materials. This type of finishing material used is ultran lasur natural dof ,ultran lasur classic teak, aqua politur clear dof, aqua politur akasia dan aqua politur cherry. After finishing the wood is stored for 3 months. Test parameters were observed, namely, physical and mechanical properties of wood, adhesion of finishing materials, color and appearance of the fiber, and timber dimensions expansion. The results showed that the mechanical physical properties of acacia wood qualified SNI. 01-0608-89 about the physical and mechanical properties of wood for furniture, air dry the moisture content from 13.78 to 14.89%, flexural strength from 509.25 to 680.50 kg/cm2, and compressive strength parallel to fiber 342.1 - 412.9 kg/cm2. Finishing the treatment process using five types of finishing materials can increase the decorative value (color and fiber) wood. Before finishing the process of acacia mangium wood has the appearance of colors and fibers and less attractive (scale scores 2-3), after finishing acacia wood fibers have the appearance of colors and interesting and very interesting (scale 4-5).Keywords: mangium wood, mechanical properties, decorative value, finishing, furniture.

Abstract BRUSH Alloy 3 offers the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of any beryllium-copper alloy. It possesses an excellent combination of moderate strength, good corrosion resistance and good resistance to moderately elevated temperatures. Because of its unique physical and mechanical properties, Brush Alloy 3 finds widespread use in welding applications (RWMA Class 3), current-carrying springs, switch and instrument parts and similar components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Cu-454. Abstract Kaiser Aluminum alloy KA62 (Tennalum alloy KA62) is a lead-free alternative to 6262. It offers good machinability and corrosion resistance and displays good acceptance of coatings (anodize response). It can be used in place of 6262 because its physical and mechanical properties are equivalent to those of 6262 (see Alloy Digest Al-361, September 1999). This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: AL-362. Producer or source: Tennalum, A Division of Kaiser Aluminum.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to assess the effect of the laminar inclusion on the physical and mechanical properties of sugarcane bagasse particleboard. We used the commercial panels of sugarcane bagasse produced in China. To evaluate the effect of the laminar inclusion was tested two wood species (Pinus and Eucalyptus) and two pressures (10 and 15 kgf.cm-2) along with a control (without laminar inclusion). The panels with laminar inclusion obtained improvements in the physical properties, with a significant reduction in the WA2h, WA24h and TS2h. There was a significant increase in the properties MOE and MOR parallel and Janka hardness, while the properties MOE and MOR perpendicular decreased significantly. The pinus and eucalyptus veneers inclusion resulted in similar results when added to the panel with a 10 kgf.cm-2 pressure. The use of 15 kgf.cm-2 pressure is not indicated for the pinus veneer inclusion in sugar cane bagasse panels. There was no effect of the pressure level when evaluating the eucalyptus veneer inclusion on the properties of the sugarcane bagasse panels.

Abstract This work studied the effect of drying temperature and duration on some physical and mechanical properties of two varieties of kola nuts using a response surface methodology approach. Physical properties determined were length, breadth, thickness, sphericity, aspect ratio, colour and moisture loss, while mechanical properties were force at break, yield, and peak, deformation at break and peak, energy to peak, energy to break, and yield, and Young modulus. At 5% level of significance, only mass, moisture loss, and sphericity were the physical properties affected. However, all measured mechanical properties were affected by drying temperature and duration (p<0.05).
