Hexagonal cavities and their applications to multilayer substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filters are presented. The hexagonal SIW cavity which can combine flexibility of rectangular one and performance of circular one is convenient for bandpass filter’s design. Three types of experimental configuration with the same central frequency of 10 GHz and bandwidth of 6%, including three-order and four-order cross-coupling topologies, are constructed and fabricated based on low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technology. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented.

A concurrent program is intuitively associated with probability: the executions of the program can produce nondeterministic execution program paths due to the interleavings of threads, whereas some paths can always be executed more frequently than the others. An exploration of the probabilities on the execution paths is expected to provide engineers or compilers with support in helping, either at coding phase or at compile time, to optimize some hottest paths. However, it is not easy to take a static analysis of the probabilities on a concurrent program in that the scheduling of threads of a concurrent program usually depends on the operating system and hardware (e.g., processor) on which the program is executed, which may be vary from machine to machine. In this paper the authors propose a platform independent approach, called ProbPP, to analyzing probabilities on the execution paths of the multithreaded programs. The main idea of ProbPP is to calculate the probabilities on the basis of two kinds of probabilities: Primitive Dependent Probabilities (PDPs) representing the control dependent probabilities among the program statements and Thread Execution Probabilities (TEPs) representing the probabilities of threads being scheduled to execute. The authors have also conducted two preliminary experiments to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of ProbPP, and the experimental results show that ProbPP can provide engineers with acceptable accuracy.

Abstract This article presents a 60 GHz coplanar fed slotted antenna based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology for beam-tilting applications. The longitudinal passive slots are fed via associated SIW holes adjacent to the coplanar feed while the main excitation is provided from the microstrip-to-SIW transition. The antenna array achieves an impedance bandwidth of 57–64 GHz with gains reaching to 12 dBi. The passive SIW slots are excited with various orientations of coplanar feeds and associated holes covering an angular beam-tilting from −56° to +56° with an offset of 10° at the central frequency. The novelty of this work is; beam-tilting is achieved without the use of any active/passive phase shifters which improves the design in terms of losses and provide a much simpler alternative compared to the complex geometries available in the literature at the 60 GHz band.

In today’s industrial world multilevel inverter (MLI) got a significant importance in medium voltage application and also a very potential topic for researchers. It is experienced that studying and comparing results of multilevel inverter (MLI) at distinct levels are a costlier and time consuming issue for any researcher if he fabricate different inverters for each level, as designing power modules simultaneously for different level is a cumbersome task. In this paper a flexible quotient has been proposed to recognize possible conversion of available MLI to few lower level inverters by appropriately changing microcontroller programming. This is an attempt to obtain such change in levels through simulation using MATLAB Simulink on inductive load which may also be applied to induction motor. Experimental results of pulse generation using dsPIC33EP256MC202 demonstrate the feasibility of proposed scheme. Proposed flexible quotient successfully demonstrates that a five-level inverter may be operated as three and two levels also. The paper focuses on odd levels only as common mode voltage (CMV) can be reduced to zero and performance of drives is better than even level. Simulated and experimental results are given in paper.

Hexagonal dual-mode cavity and its application to substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filter are presented. The hexagonal SIW resonator which can combine flexibility of rectangular cavity and performance of circular cavity is convenient for dual-mode bandpass filters design. By introducing coupling between source and load, the filter not only has good selectivity due to two controllable transmission zeros, but also has a small size by the virtue of its single-cavity structure. A demonstration filter with a center frequency of 10 GHz and a 3 dB fractional bandwidth of 4% is designed and fabricated to validate the proposed structure. Measured results are in good agreement with simulated ones.

Wool fiber was firstly pretreated by nano-SiO2/Ag antibacterial agent, and then dyed with an acid dyes at low temperature by ultrasonic dyeing. Many factors had an important influence on the dye ability and the antibacterial behavior during the dyeing process of antibacterial wool fiber. The experimental results indicate that the dye-takeup rates of antibacterial wool fiber were enhanced with the increase of the concentration of nano-SiO2/Ag, the dyeing temperature, the dyeing time and the ultrasonic frequency (less than 60Hz). However, the antibacterial ratios of wool fiber were declined in the impact of these factors other than the concentration of antibacterial agent.

ABSTRACTCz-grown Si samples containing a high concentration of oxygen are investigated after various processing steps by DLTS. Heat treatments ranging from 500°C–1000°C are performed to study the formation and annihilation of the “New Oxygen Donor” (ND) traps. Hydrogenation at low temperature leads to a reduction of the ND trap states. The experimental results confirm the “SiOx Interface Model” which assumes two differing types of interfacerelated states.

When the ordinary heat pump air conditioning system of a pure electric vehicle runs at ultra-low temperature, the discharge temperature of compressor will be too high and the heating capacity of the system will decay seriously, it will lead to inactivity of the heating system. In order to solve this problem, a modification is put forward, and an experiment is also designed. The experimental results show that in the same conditions, this new heating system increases more than 20% of the heating capacity; when the outside environment temperature is negative 20 degrees, the discharge temperature of compressor is below 60 degrees.
