The trends of the green supply chain are attributed to pressures from the environment and from customers. Green innovation is a practice for creating competitive advantage in sustainable development. To keep up with the changing business environment, the construction industry needs an appropriate assessment tool to examine the intrinsic and extrinsic effects regarding corporate competitive advantage. From the viewpoint of energy and environmental protection, this study combines four scientific methodologies to develop an assessment model for the green innovation of contractors. System dynamics can be used to estimate the future trends for the overall industrial structure and is useful in predicting competitive advantage in the industry. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and utility theory focus on the customer’s attitude toward risk and are useful for comprehending changes in objective requirements in the environment. Fuzzy logic can simplify complicated intrinsic and extrinsic factors and express them with a number or ratio that is easy to understand. The proposed assessment model can be used as a reference to guide the government in examining the public constructions that qualified green contractors participate in. Additionally, the assessment model serves an indicator of relative competitiveness that can help the general contractor and subcontractor to evaluate themselves and further green innovations.

Green innovation has become an important combination of high-quality economic growth and ecological sustainability. In this paper, the super-efficiency network SBM model was used to measure the two-stage green innovation efficiency of the industrial technology research and development (R&D) stage and achievement transformation stage in China (30 provinces and cities) from 2009 to 2019. The results show the following points. Firstly, in terms of temporal series, the efficiency of technology R&D and achievement transformation has experienced three stages of “upward-declining-revitalized period”. Secondly, in terms of spatial trend, the industrial green innovation efficiency gradually increases from northwest to southeast. The high-efficiency areas are still concentrated in the eastern coastal region, with a clear trend towards balanced development in the central and western regions. Finally, openness, industrial structure, government technical expenditures, enterprise scale, and environmental regulation all have different degrees of impact on the efficiency of green innovation in the two stages. Based on the above, this paper is helpful for the government to formulate laws and regulations and coordinate the level of regional economic development and clarify the spatio-temporal characteristics and influencing factors of the efficiency of green innovation.

Rapidly changing business environment has led to the change of supply change management (SCM) implementation. This paper attempts to discuss the benefits of SCM and how the companies manage it in order to maintain their competitive advantage. Illustrations from several companies are included. To achieve sustainable competitive advantage, five basic steps in supply chain management i.e. plan, source, make, deliver and return as discussed earlier should be conducted and evaluated carefully and continuously. SCM should take into consideration the choice of strategic partnerships not only based on the most efficient and effective cost structure but also the legal aspect of the supplier to avoid the company being shut down by the government. Trust and relationships with the suppliers should be maintained and finally, the technology innovation in SCM of a company should be developed more advanced, compared or combined with other companies to sustain competitive advantages.

This paper examines the gap between seeming progressive public demand for cleaner environment and lagging policy responses of the government. Public attitude toward environmental protection has been analyzed along with four different categories of environmental conflict and problems. There are diverse inconsistency and discrepancy between public attitudes and their behaviors. Key policy outputs are reviewed with special emphasis on environmental investment. Several factors that may explain the passive and conservative government move toward environmental protection have been identified. Those include, inactive public pressure on the government and the industry, ineffective mechanism for transforming people's demand into government decision, the ideology of developmentalism in the policymaking circle, weak local politics and administration, and oligopolitic industrial structure.

This paper examines the impact of China’s new environmental protection law on green innovation. Using a large sample of Chinese prefecture-level cities for the 2010–2016 period and the difference-in-differences (DID) methodology, we provide strong evidence that the new environmental protection law promotes green innovation. This finding is robust to a battery of sensitivity tests. The micromechanism analysis shows that the new environmental protection law can promote green innovation by imposing stricter financial constraints on enterprises in high-pollution industries and increasing their incentives for green innovation to meet green credit requirements. Further, we find that the impact of the new environmental protection law on green innovation is more prominent in prefecture-level cities with a lower level of banking competition and for prefecture-level cities with stronger intellectual property protection. Overall, these findings suggest that the new environmental protection law has played an important role in promoting green innovation in China. To improve the effect of the new environmental protection law on green innovation, the government can consider lowering banking competition and strengthening intellectual property protection.

Core competency is the basis of promoting a competitive advantage for any organization; this study aims to establish an objective and systematic assessment model for companies to identify their capabilities. This model will not only assist companies in understanding their own capabilities but will also allow them to compare their performance with that of main competitors to strengthen their competitiveness. The analysis process involved a combination of the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy linguistic value, and the ideal and anti-ideal concept. An objective and systematic model was first developed, which underwent empirical analysis using data from the top three home delivery companies in Taiwan. It was found that “Basic organizational competencies” and “Special competitive competencies” were the two key categories for the home delivery industry. Moreover, “Service price”, “On-time delivery”, and “Secure delivery” were found to be the three most important capabilities needed for home delivery companies. The results showed that the model is able to effectively assist organizations in constructing or assessing their organizational capabilities; in addition, organizations can adjust their service profiles to adapt to today’s turbulent business environment and rapidly changing consumer demands.

Lately, concern for green innovation has expanded in the business environment and many companies see it as a helpful element to gain competitive advantage. Due to the strains of maintaining sustainable businesses, mobile commerce companies are propelled to build up their own green innovation programs and harmonize them with the firm’s management programs. The central scope of this research is to examine the drivers for green innovation within a range of Romania-based mobile commerce companies that operate in different industries. With the aim of identifying the factors that determine the development of green innovation, a conceptual model has been conceived. The dependent variable within the model is the action of the company’s management to develop green innovation. Four independent types of variable structures that have an impact on the development of green innovation in mobile commerce firms were distinguished. The four categories of constructs are business environmental factors (1), green training (2), green supplier development (3), and technological factors (4). An online survey tested the model based on the responses of senior level management representatives from 182 Romanian mobile commerce companies from Bucharest. The validity of the model was fulfilled though factor analysis and reliability tests for the data; a logistic regression analysis was also used to test the research hypotheses. The research revealed that green training embodies the fundamental element enhancing green innovation among Romanian mobile commerce companies. This article benefits both academia and business. Firms could be inspired by the results of this paper to broaden the level of green innovation throughout the Romanian business environment.

With the increasing interest in integrative sustainable development, there has been a strong need for a landscape sustainability assessment tool independent from the existing green building rating system. This study aimed to establish an assessment model to objectively evaluate landscape sustainability using an analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Through an extensive literature review and expert survey, an initial list of assessment items was derived and used to set up an AHP model. An AHP survey with landscape architects and architects/engineers was then conducted to determine the importance of the assessment factors. In addition, the model was applied to three projects that were previously certified by a green building rating system in Korea. The AHP results showed that “site context” ranked as the most important factor of landscape sustainability followed by “soil and vegetation,” “maintenance,” “water,” “health and wellbeing,” and “materials.” Among the 20 assessment factors, “monitoring plan” was evaluated as the most important index, followed by “protection of cultural heritage” and “long-term management plan.” Landscape architects evaluated “soil and vegetation” as the most important in the assessment, while the engineers/architects group rated “site context” as the most important. When tested by applying them to the previously certified projects, the developed factors provided more objective and detailed information on landscape sustainability.

<p>Today small and medium sized businesses are considered the principal factor for the growth of the industrial structure of many countries. To developing countries that are attempting to revive their economic structure, these industries are of great importance. Today, with the growth and advancement of technologies, the impact of cutting edge technologies such as information technology on the business environment cannot be overlooked. The use of innovative marketing helps create value. The purpose of this paper is to investigate innovative marketing and competitive advantages of small and middle sized businesses, with regard to the innovative approaches and the company's unique features. The statistical group of this study included 300 subjects working in the companies that are active in manufacturing disposable containers in Tehran province. The results of the study indicated that innovative marketing has impacts on the companies' competitive advantage. The unique features of the companies have no impacts on obtaining competitive advantage, but it affects innovative marketing.</p>

The paper examines the specific knowledge universities transfer to industry, reflecting to creative industry needs. As results shows, the most asked alumni competences should be tacit knowledge and divergent thinking. Divergent thinking influence the creativity. Creativity is often defined as the ability to develop new and useful ideas, but in deep literature review, we can see few irregularities and different definitions of creativity. The paper also evaluates the importance of creativity from business environment point of view and from the creative industry perspective and creative firm owners. As point of view. Another key finding is, that to educate creative people will be one of the key competitive advantage, because mainly the ability to create and disseminate knowledge is often at the heart of the organization's competitive advantage not only in creative industry, but in transport industry as well.

Globalization changes the business environment, which demands change from every business organization involved, to succeed in the new environment. For that purpose, human resource management needs to be directed to the development of human capital, which assumes employees as assets, not costs, for the company. The implication is that management needs to recognize each of its employees in order to maximize their potential and manage it to be a competitive advantage. This is where performance management plays a very important role.
