A new Praseodymium (Pr) (III) complex has been synthesized and characterized by using a new amino acid-based (leucine) azo dye such as N,N-dimethylazoleucine (L1) and 1,10 phenanthroline (L2). Reaction of Pr(III) ion with L1 and L2 in 1 : 2 : 1 ratio in alcoholic medium has been carried out with general formula [Pr(L1)2(L2)(H2O)2]. Elemental analysis, comparative FT-IR, and 1HNMR spectral studies of Pr(III) complex with ligands have been shown in this paper.

The preparation and spectral characterization of new ligand containing benzimidazole as organic heterocyclic azo dye compound 2-[6-(benzimidazolyl)azo]-2,4-di chloro phenol (BIADClP) was prepared by coupling reaction benzimidazole diazonium chloride with 2,4-di chloro phenol in alkaline alcoholic solution. The structure of azo dye ligand has been characterize by spectral studies such as 1H-NMR ,mass spectrum ,FT-IR, UV-Visb. and element analysis. New six complexes with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) ions were prepared and identification by several physiochemical techniques; such as C.H.N element, magnatic susceptibility, atomic absorption, molar conductivity, IR and electronic spectra. The used techniques showed the formation of all complexes 1:2 [M:L] complexes and suggested octahedral geometry with d2sp3 hybridization of Co(III) and sp3d2 with residule chelat complexes. The coordination number of the metal ion is found to be six with binding through the phenolate O, azo N3 and with the imidazole N3 atom. All complexes that non electrolyte and no conductive species excepted the Co(III)-complexes is 1:1 electrolyte

In the work we presented the behavior of 5-(4-(4-X-phenylsulfonyl)phenyl)-4-(n-propyl)-2H-1,2,4-triazole-3(4H)-thiones (X= Cl or Br) with some alkylation agents. Thus, new S-alkylated 1,2,4-triazole derivatives were synthesized by reaction of the corresponding 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione derivatives with different -halogenated compounds (ethyl bromide, ethyl chloroacetate or phenacyl bromide), in basic medium. The structures of synthesized compounds were elucidated by spectral data (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, mass spectrometry) and elemental analysis.

The reaction of PcMCl 2 ( M = Zr , Hf ) with β-diketones is reported. 1 H NMR and elemental analysis suggest the substitution of two Cl atoms for two β-diketone fragments takes place as a result of this reaction and the complexes PcM(β-dik)2 are formed. All obtained complexes are stable and highly soluble in most organic solvents. The data from 1 H and 19 F NMR, and UV-vis spectroscopy suggest the coordination of two β-diketone ligands in a cis geometry about the central atom of the macrocycle. It was shown bis(β-diketonato)zirconium(IV) and hafnium(IV) phthalocyanines containing β-diketones with donor or acceptor groups or with bulky substituents can be obtained.

In this study a cobalt(II) complex of quercetin was synthetized in the solid state with the general formula Co(C15H9O7)2∙2H2O. The FT-IR, elemental analysis, and UV/Vis methods were used to study the composition of the complex in a solid state and in a water solution. The anti-/pro-oxidant activity of quercetin and the Co(II) complex was studied by means of spectrophotometric DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), FRAP (ferric reducing antioxidant activity) and Trolox oxidation assays. The cytotoxicity of quercetin and Co(II)-quercetin complex in HaCat cell lines was then established.

Five new ternary metal complexes containing imidazole and glycylglycine or amino acid have been prepared and characterized by proton magnetic resonance and infrared spectral studies. Seven new binary metal complexes have also been prepared and studied. The isolation of Cd(imidazole)6Cl2•H2O and Ni(imidazole)6-Cl2•4H2O provides evidence that the coordination number of these metal ions to imidazole in the solid state is six. The visible spectra of the Ni(II) complexes of amino acid and imidazole show that all these are octahedral in aqueous solution.

The synthesis of tetra and octa perfluoroalkyl substituted zinc and metal free phthalocyanines ( ZnPc and H 2 Pc ) are reported. The compounds 1–5 have been prepared by nucleophilic substitution of 4-nitrophthalonitrile with 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctanethiol, 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecan-1-ol, 1H,1H-perfluorodecan-1-ol, 1H,1H-perfluorotetradecan-1-ol and 1H,1H-perfluoro-3,6,9-trioxatridecan-1-ol, respectively. The compounds 6–8 have been prepared by the reaction of 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecan-1-ol, 1H,1H-perfluorodecan-1-ol and 1H,1H-perfluoro-3,6,9-trioxatridecan-1-ol with 4,5-dichlororphthalonitrile, respectively. The compound 9 with thia-bridge has been synthesized from 4,5-dichlororphthalonitrile. Zinc and metal free phthalocyanines were obtained from the corresponding phthalonitrile derivatives. All compounds were characterized by using mass, 1 H , 19 F NMR, UV-vis and FT-IR as well as elemental analysis. Tetra substituted Zn ( II ) phthalocyanines are slightly soluble only in THF (Compound 4a and 7a are insoluble) but metal free phthalocyanines are not soluble. Octa substituted Zn ( II ) and metal free phthalocyanine are soluble in polar solvents such as THF and DMSO.

(6-(cyclohexylamino)-1,3-dimethyl-5(2-pyridyl)furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione) abbreviated as CDP was synthesized and characterized. Ti(IV), Zn(II), Fe(III), and Pd(II) metal complexes of this ligand are prepared by the reaction of salts of Ti(IV), Zn(II), Fe(III), and Pd(II) with CDP in acetonitrile. Characterization of the ligand and its complexes was made by microanalyses, FT-IR,1HNMR,13CNMR, and UV-Visible spectroscopy. All complexes were characterized by several techniques using elemental analysis (C, H, N), FT-IR, electronic spectra, and molar conductance measurements. The elemental analysis data suggest the stoichiometry to be 1:1 [M:L] ratio formation. The molar conductance measurements reveal the presence of 1:1 electrolytic nature complexes. These new complexes showed excellent antitumor activity against two kinds of cancer cells that are K562 (human chronic myeloid leukemia) cells and Jurkat (human T lymphocyte carcinoma) cells.

In this study, a new series consisting of 12 heteroaryl chalcone derivatives of 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene were synthesised. Chalcones were synthesised in high purity and efficiency, via condensation of mono, bis and tris 2,4,6-trimethoxy acetophenones with hetero-2-carbaldehyde derivatives based on Claisen Schdmit condensation. The reactions feature a good scope for the all products, mild reaction conditions and good yields. The synthesized compounds were characterized by using FT-IR, NMR and elemental analysis spectroscopic techniques.
