This study tested the degree to which a need-supportive family environment influences adolescents' endorsement of the value priorities that their mothers wish for them. Mothers and their adolescents (N=280) rated the importance of three intrinsic values (personal growth, close relationships, and community contribution) and three extrinsic values (wealth, fame, and attractiveness). Results revealed that mothers placed greater emphasis on intrinsic over extrinsic values than did adolescents. Furthermore, the congruence of mothers' and adolescents' emphasis on intrinsic values was moderated by the extent to which adolescents experienced satisfaction of their basic needs for autonomy, relatedness, and competence at home. Finally, the well-being of both adolescents and mothers was associated with the degree to which they prioritized intrinsic over extrinsic values. Implications for research on the transmission of values and goals are discussed.

The aim of the current study is to look for theoretically and empirically grounded proof for the correlation between aspirations – extrinsic and intrinsic- determining the motivation – and the psychological wellbeing of adolescents in 11th grade. Materialistic orientation is expressed in the preferences of extrinsic goals such as fame, wealth and image, while the intrinsic aspirations are related to preferences of aspirations for personal growth, personal relationships and community contribution. High level of psychological wellbeing is measured through the six elements from K. Ryff’s definition: self-acceptance, positive interaction with others, autonomy, managing of environment, meaning and personal growth. The research includes a group of 50 students in two Bulgarian high schools.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate how family members co-create value and improve the well-being of patients with chronic developmental disorders, such as Asperger syndrome (AS) that undertake permanent therapy services. Design/methodology/approach Qualitative methodology is used to identify family value co-creation activities and well-being outcomes. Extensive interviews with family members and professional therapists of AS patients were conducted as the main data collection method. Findings Drawing from previous conceptualizations of value co-creation activities in health contexts, the findings of this study identify the specific value co-creation activities held by family members that influence the different dimensions of well-being for AS patients and their families: co-learning, combining therapies, changing ways of doing things, connecting, co-operation and co-production, managing daily life, motivating, protecting, regulating and establishing roles. The findings also reveal improvements in the following dimensions of patient well-being: autonomy, self-acceptance, purpose in life, positive relationships with others, control of the environment and personal growth. In addition, value co-creation activities also improve family relationships at home and the well-being of patient family members. Originality/value This study contributes to the services literature and addresses a gap in transformative service research by exploring the value co-creation activities of family members for improving well-being outcomes of patients with chronic developmental disorders. People with chronic developmental disorders engage in permanent therapy services and tend to have below-average well-being scores, which also extends to their family members.

This paper aims to investigate the psychological well-being in relation to group socio-cognitive factors at work. Data was collected on a sample of 133 participants that were employed and had a manager at the time of filling in the scales. The results support the mediation role of trust between transformational and organizational identification. Organizational identification totally mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and psychological well being and its subscales: purpose in life, positive relationships with others, environmental control. The relationship between transformational leadership and self acceptance, personal growth and positive relations with other was mediated by the trust in coworkers.

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental illness and cause dysfunction in the social, work and family environment. The main goal of the treatment of schizophrenia is recovery that is either physically or mentally completed from loss of symptoms, work function, independent life, and relationships that require the role of the patient and caregiver. Planning therapy for schizophrenic patients is not just medical approval or treatment, but the discussion of basic needs is very important in order to reduce dysfunction in schizophrenic patients and improve their quality of life. The Camberwell Assessment of Need (CAN) is an instrument developed to support several aspects of life and mental well-being and to provide an overview of the needs of schizophrenic patients.

Radicalism is a process initiated from the ideas and teachings that stem from individual stages. Hence, the early detection effort in deradicalization by involving women can run effectively, regarding the fact that women play a vital role in the family, particularly in shaping the character of children. Unfortunately, the role of women in preventing, or actually in promoting and participating, terrorism and political violence seems to be neglected. This qualitative study attempts to examine the role of women in preventing radicalization and at the same time promoting and participat-ing to alleviate terrorism and political violence. The findings of the study reveal that the role of women in the deradicali-zation can be done in a number of strategies, although not restricted, such as reduction of gender inequality and disparity, giving women a greater role to participate in a multi-field of social realm, strengthening the well-being to prevent radicalization, making women as leaders who hold moderate and tolerant values in education, especially within, though not limited, the family environment, and initiating peace through women’s reproductive functions.

Parents are central stakeholders within the youth sport context, yet their own health and well-being can be compromised due to the extensive commitment required to support their child’s sport development. Against a backdrop of transformative sport service research and eudaimonic well-being, the study presents an autoethnography of my experience as a parent attempting to subvert the traditional role of parent–spectator by engaging in “sideline” physical activity simultaneous to my child’s sport. A secondary purpose is to identify the program and facility design attributes within the community sport environment that facilitate or inhibit the well-being of parents via simultaneous participation. This study highlights how the lines between researcher and subject can be blurred to challenge taken-for-granted assumptions and strengthen well-being through mastery, autonomy, personal growth, interpersonal relations, and self-acceptance. Through lived experience and personal voice, I hope that my story will open new possibilities for transformative practices within community sport.

Values guide our attitudes and behavior, but to what extent and how do individual values determine our overall well-being? Self-determination theory holds that particular types of values (i.e., intrinsic or extrinsic) matter most, but the person-environment fit perspective argues that any values can be beneficial as long as they align with values prevalent in one’s environment. The evidentiary support for these competing claims is inconclusive. We use the World Value Survey to see how these perspectives do in predicting life satisfaction, happiness, and health in youngsters aged 18 to 30 around the world. Our results generally confirm hypotheses derived from self-determination theory, showing that the type of values held by youngsters and the type of values prevailing in their environments account for significant variation in young peoples’ life satisfaction, happiness, and health. The pattern of evidence suggests that youngsters benefit from attaching greater importance to intrinsic values related to affiliation and community contribution rather than to extrinsic values that relate to financial success and accumulation of power.

The aim of this study was to compare the psychological well-being of public and private undertakings in Aligarh. The sample consisted of 100 participants including 50 each from public and private undertakings. Psychological well-being is a positive aspect that is present in every individual in varying degree& it is very important to measure psychological well-being among public & private sector due to its role of productivity in each sector. Psychological well Being is an important aspect for effective performance in each undertaking sector, as it determines the internal feelings to persuade the external actions .Low psychological well-being is obvious to effect any domain of our life may it be academic  or  work life. 42 item versions Psychological well being scale by Carol ryff was used to collect the data from different private & public undertakings in Aligarh. This scale consist of six dimensions namely Autonomy, Environmental Mastery, Personal Growth, Positive Relationship, Purpose in Life, Self-Acceptance. Mean, Standard Deviation and t-test were applied for analysis of data. The findings of this study revealed that over all psychological well-being of public undertakings is higher than private undertakings. Significant difference of overall psychological well-being was found between public and private undertakings in Aligarh .Furthermore, significant difference was found on all above mentioned dimensions of psychological well-being except autonomy and self-acceptance.
