We show that for each minimal normN(⋅)on the algebraℳnof alln×ncomplex matrices, there exist norms‖⋅‖1and‖⋅‖2onℂnsuch thatN(A)=max{‖Ax‖2:‖x‖1=1, x∈ℂn}for allA∈ℳn. This may be regarded as an extension of a known result on characterization of minimal algebra norms.

If A is a minimal algebra (that is, has no proper subalgebras) then the set S2(A) of all subalgebras of A2 has a natural structure of ordered involutive monoid. This paper gives a characterization of monoids S that appear in the role of this monoid if A is finite, weakly diagonal (every subalgebra of A2 contains the graph of an automorphism of A) and has a majority term.

AbstractUltra high-resolution mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) coupled to electrospray ionization (ESI) provides unprecedented molecular characterization of complex matrices such as petroleum products. However, ESI faces major ionization competition phenomena that prevent the absolute quantification of the compounds of interest. On the other hand, comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC × GC) coupled to specific detectors (HRMS or NCD) is able to quantify the main families identified in these complex matrices. In this paper, this innovative dual approach has been used to evaluate the ionization response of nitrogen compounds in gas oils as a case study. To this extent, a large gas oil dataset has been analyzed by GC × GC/HRMS, GC × GC-NCD and ESI(+/−)-FT-ICR MS. Then, the concentrations obtained from GC × GC-NCD have been compared to those obtained from FT-ICR MS hence proving that strong ionization competitions are taking place and also depending on the origin of the sample. Finally, multilinear regressions (MLR) have been used to quantitatively predict nitrogen families from FT-ICR MS measurements as well as start rationalizing the ionization competition phenomena taking place between them in different types of gas oils.

Toward the goal of increasing the throughput of high-resolution mass characterization of intact antibodies, we developed a RapidFire–mass spectrometry (MS) assay using electrospray ionization. We achieved unprecedented screening throughput as fast as 15 s/sample, which is an order of magnitude improvement over conventional liquid chromatography (LC)-MS approaches. The screening enabled intact mass determination as accurate as 7 ppm with baseline resolution at the glycoform level for intact antibodies. We utilized this assay to characterize and perform relative quantitation of antibody species from 248 samples of 62 different cell line clones at four time points in 2 h using RapidFire–time-of-flight MS screening. The screening enabled selection of clones with the highest purity of bispecific antibody production and the results significantly correlated with conventional LC-MS results. In addition, analyzing antibodies from a complex plasma sample using affinity-RapidFire-MS was also demonstrated and qualified. In summary, the platform affords high-throughput analyses of antibodies, including bispecific antibodies and potential mispaired side products, in cell culture media, or other complex matrices.

UDC 512.5 A new decomposition for square matrices is given by using two known matrix decompositions, a new characterization of the core-EP order is obtained by using this new matrix decomposition. Also, we will use a matrix decomposition to investigate the minus, star, sharp and core partial orders in the setting of complex matrices.
