Psychrolutes sio, a new psychrolutid fish (Scorpaeniformes) from the southeastern Pacific

Psychrolutes sio, a new species of Psychrolutidae from off northernmost Chile, is described from two specimens trawled at about 770–1150 m. The holotype is deposited in the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO 72-184). The only large specimen, the 22.9-cm holotype, differs most conspicuously from the other two species of the genus Psychrolutes in having the head and body color a uniform brown, skin thin, lateral line pores in small but distinct tubes, and jaws equal. Psychrolutes sio represents the first record of the genus Psychrolutes to be recognized from the Southern Hemisphere. However, future studies may indicate that other southern psychrolutids of the genera Neophrynichthys and Cottunculoides should also be assigned to Psychrolutes.

Zatypota albicoxa (Walker) is newly recorded from Mt. Merapi, Java Is., Indonesia. This is the first record of Z. albicoxa from this part of the Oriental region and from the Southern Hemisphere, and the first record of the genus Zatypota from Southeast Asia. The Indonesian population of Z. albicoxa attacks a theridiid spider of the genus Parasteatoda, as do populations of Z. albicoxa in other regions. The spider is a new species, and is described under the name of Parasteatoda merapiensis.

During 2007, 2008, and 2010, 23 specimens of an undescribed vermiform sea anemone were collected on Punta Pardelas and Fracaso Beach (Península Valdés, Argentina). The specimens have longitudinal rows of cinclides distally, all mesenteries perfect, tentacles hexamerously arranged without acrospheres, column not divisible into regions, no marginal sphincter and no conchula. We describe these specimens as a new species within the genus Harenactis (family Haloclavidae). Harenactis argentina sp. nov. is the second species of Harenactis; it represents the first record of this genus in the southern hemisphere and the first record of a soft bottom-dwelling sea anemone in the Argentine continental zone. Furthermore, we discuss the familial placement and relationships of the genus Harenactis and other athenarian sea anemones.

Loneuroides is registered for the first time in Brazil. A new species from the Brazilian state of Bahia, is here described and illustrated. It differs from all the other species in the genus in details of the female ninth sternum and by number of primary branches in vein M of fore- and hind- wings. A map with the distribution of the species of Loneuroides is included.

A new species of kamakid amphipod, Ledoyerella kunensis sp. nov., is described from waters off Namibia and Angola. This is the first record of this genus in the Atlantic. The taxon is fully described and figured and is compared with the other known species of the genus occurring in waters of the Indian and Pacific Ocean.

Salmo tigridis, new species, from the Tigris River drainage, Turkey, is distinguished from the other species of Salmo in Turkey and adjacent basins by having a greater number of scale rows between the end of the adipose-fin base and lateral line (19–20, vs. 12–17); a greater number of scale rows between dorsal-fin origin and lateral line (32–35, vs. 23–32); and a deeper and stouter caudal peduncle (its depth 11.5–12.6 % SL, vs. 9.3–11.5, except in S. cf. macrostigma).

Prochelator tupuhi sp. nov. is the first record of the genus Prochelator Hessler, 1970 from Southern Hemisphere waters, and the first record of the family Desmosomatidae from New Zealand. The new species can be distinguished from all other species of the genus by the following characters: body elongate, without spine-like ventral elongations on pereonites 1–4, pereonite 1 as high as pereonite 5, mesial lobe of the maxilla much shorter than in the other species of the genus, reaching only half the length of the lateral lobe, carpus of pereopod 1 distinctly produced at the base of the claw, propodus broadest at the articulation to the carpus, tapering distally.

A new species from Juruti River Plateau, Juruti, Pará, Brazil that fits the generic characters of Megaphobema is described. Megaphobema teceae n. sp. differs from the other four species known in this genus mainly by the presence of a conspicuous post-ocular process. This is the first record of the genus to both oriental Amazon and Brazil.

Symphysanodon mona, a new species of perciform fish, is described from a single specimen collected in Mona Passage off the west coast of Puerto Rico. It differs from all other species of Symphysanodon in having fewer gillrakers on the first gill arch (4 or 5 + 19–21 = 24 or 25 total vs. 8–14 + 20–29 = 28–42 total) and, additionally, from the other two Atlantic species of the genus (S. berryi and S. octoactinus) in two other features of gill-arch morphology, viz., in having a ventral branch of the obliquus dorsalis 3 muscle (vs. its absence in the other two species) and in having a posteriorly projecting extension of the cartilaginous lateral end of ceratobranchial 4 (vs. its absence in the other two species; S. berryi has a small accessory cartilage associated with the lateral end of ceratobranchial 4 which may also be present in S. octoactinus). Symphysanodon parini, new species, known from 10 specimens collected over Sala y Gómez Ridge in the eastern South Pacific, can be distinguished from all other species of Symphysanodon, except S. maunaloae from the central and western Pacific, by the following combination of characters: segmented anal-fin rays 7, tubed lateral-line scales 45–50, total gillrakers on first gill arch 31– 34 (9 or 10 + 22–24), sum of lateral-line scales and gillrakers on individual specimens 77–84, depth of body 22.5–24.7 % SL (4.0–4.4 times in SL), length of depressed anal fin 24.8–26.4 % SL, hypurals 1 & 2 autogenous, hypurals 3 & 4 represented by a single plate, and first caudal vertebra without parapophyses. It is distinguished from S. maunaloae by differences in mean numbers of tubed lateral-line scales (mean = 47.89 for S. parini vs. mean = 44.94 for S. maunaloae) and pectoral-fin rays (mean = 16.90 for S. parini vs. mean = 16.13 for S. maunaloae) and by differences in a few morphometric characters. Symphysanodon rhax, new species, known from specimens collected off the Maldive Islands, northern Indian Ocean, is separable from all other species of Symphysanodon, except S. berryi from the Atlantic, by the following combination of characters: segmented rays in the anal fin 7, tubed lateral-line scales 50, gillrakers on the first gill arch 35–38 (10 or 11 + 25–27), sum of lateral-line scales and gillrakers on individual specimens 85–88, depth of body 20.6–24.8 % SL (4.0–4.9 times in SL), length of depressed anal fin 21.8–23.9 % SL, hypurals 1 & 2 autogenous, hypurals 3 & 4 represented by a single plate, and first caudal vertebra without parapophyses. It can be distinguished from S. berryi by its shorter second anal-fin spine and a suite of other morphometric characters. A key to Symphysanodon and a review of the other species of the genus are also presented.

The genus Urumaelmis Satô, 1963 is recorded for the first time from China. A new species, Urumaelmis yunnanensis sp. nov. is described from Yunnan, China. The new species can be distinguished from U. uenoi uenoi (Nomura, 1961) and U. u. tokarana (Satô, 1963) by its larger body size, and by the carina on elytral interval VI which extends nearly from base to apex; and from U. flammea Nakajima & Kamite, 2020 also by its black body color, the median groove of pronotum not reaching the base, pointed anterior pronotal angles, and by the absence of parameres. The habitus, and aedeagus photos, and line drawings of the male genitalia are provided.

A new Tyttocharax species from the Güejar River system, near the Macarena Mountains in Colombia is described. This is the first record for the genus from the Orinoco basin. The combination of the following characters distinguish Tyttocharax metae from its congeners: presence of bony hooks on the pectoral and caudal-fin rays; bony hooks on the anal-fin rays larger than those on the pelvic-fin rays; pectoral-fin rays i,5-6,i; presence of three unbranched dorsal-fin rays; absence of an adipose fin; four scales rows between the anal-fin origin and the lateral line; and four scale rows between the pelvic-fin and the lateral line. Ecological characteristics of the habitat of the new species are also presented.
