Abundance, variability, and aggregation of larval populations of 162 species of lepidoptera, feeding on the foliage of primarily deciduous trees in southern Ontario, were analyzed to test four hypotheses about the relationship of species to their resources. The lepidoptera larvae were treated both as exploiters of foliage and as resources for parasitoids. Multiple regression and partial correlation analysis revealed that (1) the abundance and variability of a moth population were independent of the diversity of host trees fed upon, (2) the incidence of parasitism on a moth population was independent of the variability of the host population, and (3) the diversity of parasites of a moth was independent of the variability of the host population. We raise the possibility that parasites may be ineffective control agents for lepidoptera species.

Suicide is described as death caused by self-directed injurious behavior with any intent to die as a result of the behavior. Adolescence is a period of marked risk for suicide. This study was carried out to find out the relationship of parenting style and suicidal ideation of adolescents. A sample of (N= 200) with age range of 13 to 19 years from different schools of Khyber Pakhtun Khwa, Pakistan was selected. Two instruments were used in study:  Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), and Suicidal Risk Scale (SRS). Pearson partial correlation was applied to analyze the data. The findings shows permissive mother parenting style is significantly positively correlated with authoritarian mother parenting, permissive father parenting, authoritarian father parenting, and suicidal ideation. Whereas, authoritarian mother parenting style significantly positively correlated with permissive father parenting, authoritarian father parenting, and suicidal ideation. Meanwhile authoritative/flexible mother parenting style is significantly negatively correlated with permissive father parenting, authoritarian father parenting, and suicidal ideation.

The relationship of isolates of Phakopsora pachyrhizi found on the coastal legume Kennedia rubicunda to isolates found on Glycine spp. was determined by assessing the virulence of ten Kennedia-derived isolates on a wild line of Glycine canescens and on a commercial cultivar of G. max. These two lines are both known to be susceptible to all Glycine-derived isolates of the pathogen. Three patterns of pathogenicity were detected among the Kennedia-derived isolates with isolates being either avirulent or virulent on both host lines; or being avirulent on G. canescens and virulent on G. max.The pathogenicity of five of these Kennedia isolates of P. pachyrhizi was also tested on ten populations of K. rubicunda. The mean levels of resistance and virulence of the host populations and pathogen isolates respectively showed a considerable range. Significant interactions were detected between particular host population-pathogen isolate combinations. These results were compared with those obtained with two representative isolates of P. pachyrhizi collected on Glycine hosts.

This article explores the relations between acculturation expectation “integration” and life satisfaction of the host population. Early studies demonstrated contradicting results regarding this relationship. The reason for these contradictions is the contextual conditions in which intercultural relationships take place. Generalized trust is one of these conditions. The study (n = 198) in Moscow showed that trust is a moderator of the relationship of acculturation expectation “integration” and life satisfaction of the host population. This means that the nature of the relationship between these two variables changes depending on the level of generalized trust: in case of high generalized trust the relationship between acculturation expectation “integration” and life satisfaction of the host population is positive, and in case of low generalized trust the relationship between acculturation expectation “integration” and life satisfaction of the host population is negative. Consequently, generalized trust plays an important role for life satisfaction of the host population in case of their preference integration of migrants.

Discipline is one of the factors of success in achieving learning goals. Discipline teacher will bring a positive impact on the development of students, it requires dedication and a high responsibility. A teacher required to cultivate the mindset, have extensive knowledge, must also have competencies that qualified, good pedagogy, methodology, or disciplines to be taught. The teaching profession is a noble profession, although sometimes underestimated, but it is crucial in preparing the next generation, which will continue nation's leadership in the future. Teachers are also required to be able to provide examples of good models, in order to produce generations that can be better in the future. xThe benchmark of whether good nor bad of one community is the education itself. While the main character in the world of education is the teacher, because the teacher are able to single handedly carve a student's future whether it's good nor bad.The people's expectation on the products of the education system can be seen on the student's both academic and non-academic achievements. This research is using a quantitative descriptive method, whereas the type of approach used in this study is a partial correlation by analyzing the relationship (influence) between the variables of work discipline in the teacher with student achievement.Data collection technique is to spread the Likert scale questionnaire form which contains a number of questions about the indicators of work discipline and student achievement. The data obtained was then added to the partial correlation formula per variable, then connected, whether there is a significant relationship between teacher's work discipline with student achievement in SMA Negeri 1 Bumiayu, Brebes Regency, while the author used determinant coefficient to analyze the relationship between teacher's work discipline and student achievement. The results of the study is showing that teacher's work discipline will affect student achievement, because there is a relationship of 0.786 or 78.6% that were classified as very strong based on the level of its relationship.

Employees become an important factor in the success of the organization. They have impact on almost every business activity. Therefore company needs to manage their human resources in order to get highest performance. Many human resources practices implemented to achieve such result. One thing that indicate a positive result is the level of employee commitment toward the organization. Committed employees will contribute more. Affective commitment is the highest level of commitment because this emerge from within the employee's feelings. This study discusses the effect of perceived organizational support (POS), stress, and job satisfaction on employee’s affective commitment. The research was conducted in the drinking water company in Bandung using 85 participants. The analysis technique used is partial correlation analysis to identify the relationship between variables and also identify control variables that affect each relationship. Furthermore, mediation analysis is used to determine whether stress and job satisfaction have a mediating role in the relationship of POS influence to affective commitment. The results showed that POS had no significant effect on affective commitment. Furthermore, stress does not have the role of mediation either partially or simultaneously with job satisfaction. While job satisfaction has a partial mediation role in the relationship of influence between POS and affective commitment.

The purpose of this study was to determine how closely the relationship between service quality and price to customer satisfaction in the garage SUN MOTOR Matraman. The strategy used in this study is an associative strategy. The method used in this research is a survey as part of a descriptive research with quantitative approach. The population in this study is that customers who have subscribed during the years 2014-2015 and has been visited 5 times. Based on existing data, obtained the number of customers who have been 5 times a year during 2014 to 2015 was 114 people. Based on calculations using the formula slovin, obtained the total sample of 89 respondents.Based on the results of research to test the correlation coefficient, obtained by the partial correlation coefficient and regression. From the analysis of partial correlation coefficient, partial correlation value X1 to Y of 0.472, which means the relationship of service quality and customer satisfaction, are moderate and the direction that is positive assuming constant prices. While the partial correlation value X2 to Y of 0.530, which means that the relationship of price to customer satisfaction, are and the direction that is positive with regards the quality of service constant. The value multiple correlation coefficient of 0.952, showing the relationship between service quality and price to customer satisfaction is very strong with a relationship that is positive or unidirectional, meaning if the quality of service and price can be supplied with either, then customer satisfaction will increase, and vice versa if quality of service and price can not be given properly, then customer satisfaction will decrease. From the results of partial hypothesis testing, obtained P-value variables X1 0,000, smaller than the real level or 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be deduced Ho refused or Ha accepted, meaning partially contained significant positive correlation variables of service quality and customer satisfaction. While the P-value of 0.000 X2, smaller than the real level or 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be deduced Ho refused or Ha accepted, meaning partially contained significant positive correlation with the price variable customer satisfaction. From the results of hypothesis testing simultaneously, gained significance F 0,000, is smaller than the real level or 0.000 <0.05. Thus, it can be deduced Ho refused or Ha accepted, meaning there is simultaneously a significant positive relationship between service quality and price to customer satisfaction.

The relationship between structural and functional connectivity has been mostly examined in intact brains. Fewer studies have examined how differences in structure as a result of injury alters function. In this study we analyzed the relationship of structure to function across patients with stroke among whom infarcts caused heterogenous structural damage. We estimated relationships between distinct brain regions of interest (ROIs) from functional MRI in two pipelines. In one analysis pipeline, we measured functional connectivity by using correlation and partial correlation between 114 cortical ROIs. We found fMRI-BOLD partial correlation was altered at more edges as a function of the structural connectome (SC) damage, relative to the correlation. In a second analysis pipeline, we limited our analysis to fMRI correlations between pairs of voxels for which we possess SC information. We found that voxel-level functional connectivity showed the effect of structural damage that we could not see when examining correlations between ROIs. Further, the effects of structural damage on functional connectivity are consistent with a model of functional connectivity, diffusion, which expects functional connectivity to result from activity spreading over multiple edge anatomical paths.

1. In this study we investigated the relationship between serum leptin levels and body fat distribution in a random sample of women of widely ranging age and body mass index. Anthropometry and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry were used to measure body fat and its distribution. 2. Leptin levels (log transformed) were not significantly correlated with age, but were significantly positively correlated (P < 0.001) with most anthropometric measures except waist-to-hip circumference ratio. The strongest correlations were with total grams of body fat and percentage body fat (r = 0.68 and 0.76 respectively, P < 0.001). When corrected for percentage body fat the partial correlation coefficients for all other measures became non-significant. The correlation with truncal body fat fell significantly from 0.66 to −0.05 after correction, but the partial correlation with total body fat remained significant (P < 0.005) when grams of truncal fat were controlled for (r = 0.21). 3. These results indicate that the relationship of serum leptin to percentage body fat is the strongest, and that truncal body fat, although the most metabolically active, does not appear to have an independent association with serum leptin.

The Mesozoic-Cenozoic coral Order Scleractinia has been suggested to have originated or evolved (1) by direct descent from the Paleozoic Order Rugosa or (2) by the development of a skeleton in members of one of the anemone groups that probably have existed throughout Phanerozoic time. In spite of much work on the subject, advocates of the direct descent hypothesis have failed to find convincing evidence of this relationship. Critical points are:(1) Rugosan septal insertion is serial; Scleractinian insertion is cyclic; no intermediate stages have been demonstrated. Apparent intermediates are Scleractinia having bilateral cyclic insertion or teratological Rugosa.(2) There is convincing evidence that the skeletons of many Rugosa were calcitic and none are known to be or to have been aragonitic. In contrast, the skeletons of all living Scleractinia are aragonitic and there is evidence that fossil Scleractinia were aragonitic also. The mineralogic difference is almost certainly due to intrinsic biologic factors.(3) No early Triassic corals of either group are known. This fact is not compelling (by itself) but is important in connection with points 1 and 2, because, given direct descent, both changes took place during this only stage in the history of the two groups in which there are no known corals.

Echinodermata is a phylum of marine invertebrates which has been extant since Cambrian time (c.a. 500 m.y. before the present). Modern examples of echinoderms include sea urchins, sea stars, and sea lilies (crinoids). The endoskeletons of echinoderms are composed of plates or ossicles (Fig. 1) which are with few exceptions, porous, single crystals of high-magnesian calcite. Despite their single crystal nature, fracture surfaces do not exhibit the near-perfect {10.4} cleavage characteristic of inorganic calcite. This paradoxical mix of biogenic and inorganic features has prompted much recent work on echinoderm skeletal crystallography. Furthermore, fossil echinoderm hard parts comprise a volumetrically significant portion of some marine limestones sequences. The ultrastructural and microchemical characterization of modern skeletal material should lend insight into: 1). The nature of the biogenic processes involved, for example, the relationship of Mg heterogeneity to morphological and structural features in modern echinoderm material, and 2). The nature of the diagenetic changes undergone by their ancient, fossilized counterparts. In this study, high resolution TEM (HRTEM), high voltage TEM (HVTEM), and STEM microanalysis are used to characterize tha ultrastructural and microchemical composition of skeletal elements of the modern crinoid Neocrinus blakei.
