Colorless and transparent single crystals of Ba2H3I were obtained by reacting Ba with dried and sublimed NH4I in a 4 : 1 molar ratio in silica-jacketed Nb ampoules at 1100 K for 13 h. The crystal structure of the title compound was determined and refined by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Ba2H3I crystallizes in a stuffed anti-CdI2 structure isotypic to Sr2H3I in the space group P3̄m1 (no. 164) with the lattice parameters a = 451.86(12) and c = 811.84(23) pm. The structural results for Ba2H3I are consistent with bond lengths and coordination geometries of related binary and ternary hydrides

AbstractHydrothermal synthesis produced the new compound SrCo2(AsO4)(AsO3OH)(OH)(H2O). The compound belongs to the tsumcorite group (natural and synthetic compounds with the general formula M(1)M(2)2(XO4)2(H2O,OH)2; M(1)1+,2+,3+ = Na, K, Rb, Ag, NH4, Ca, Pb, Bi, Tl; M(2)2+,3+ = Al, Mn3+, Fe3+, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; and X5+,6+ = P, As, V, S, Se, Mo). It represents (1) the first Sr member, (2) the until now unknown [7]-coordination for the M(1) position, (3) the first proof of (partially) protonated arsenate groups in this group of compounds, and (4) a new structure variant. The crystal structure of the title compound was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. The compound is monoclinic, space group P21/a, with a = 9.139(2), b = 12.829(3), c = 7.522(2) Å, β = 114.33(3)°, V = 803.6(3) Å3, Z = 4 [wR2 = 0.065 for 3530 unique reflections]. The hydrogen atoms were located experimentally.

The new organotin compound, Ph2Sn(Cl)[S(C7H3N2O2S)]·[(C7H3N2O2S)OEt], assembled by an intermolecular aromatic benzothiazole–benzothiazole π-π stacking interaction, has been synthesized by the reaction of diphenyltin dichloride with 2-mercapto-6-nitrobenzothiazole. The title compound was characterized by elemental, IR, 1H NMR, and X-ray crystallography analyses. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data reveals that the title compound has two different molecular components. The component Ph2Sn(Cl)[S(C7H3N2O2S)] has a pentacoordinate tin, which further forms an infinite one-dimensional chain by intermolecular non-bonded Cl···S interactions, resulting in an intercalation lattice that holds (C7H3N2O2S)OEt molecules. The formation of the molecule (C7H3N2O2S)OEt as well as its intercalated mechanism has also been discussed.Key words: organotin, assemble, π-π stacking interaction, 2-mercapto-6-nitrobenzothiazole, non-bonded interaction, crystal structure.

The crystal structure of the title compound, Ca(C6H2N307)2,5H2O, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 295(1) K and refined by least squares to a residual of 0.049 for 1513 'observed' reflections. Crystals are orthorhombic, Pmab, a 24.169(6), b l0.292(7), c 8.554(2) , Z 4. The stereochemistry about the calcium has not been observed previously for the system [M(bidentate)2- (unidentate)4]; in the present structure, the calcium is coordinated by a pair of bidentate picrate ligands and the four water molecules in an array in which three of the water molecules occupy a triangular face of a square antiprism, the overall array having m symmetry. The remaining water molecule occupies a lattice site with no close interaction with the other species.

The adsorption behaviour of the CdII–MOF {[Cd(L)2(ClO4)2]·H2O (1), where L is 4-amino-3,5-bis[3-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl]-1,2,4-triazole, for butan-2-one was investigated in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) fashion. A new host–guest system that encapsulated butan-2-one molecules, namely poly[[bis{μ3-4-amino-3,5-bis[3-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl]-1,2,4-triazole}cadmium(II)] bis(perchlorate) butanone sesquisolvate], {[Cd(C24H18N6)2](ClO4)2·1.5C4H8O} n , denoted C4H8O@Cd-MOF (2), was obtained via an SCSC transformation. MOF 2 crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P43212. The specific binding sites for butan-2-one in the host were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions and C—H...π interactions between the framework, ClO4 − anions and guest molecules co-operatively bind 1.5 butan-2-one molecules within the channels. The adsorption behaviour was further evidenced by 1H NMR, IR, TGA and powder X-ray diffraction experiments, which are consistent with the single-crystal X-ray analysis. A 1H NMR experiment demonstrates that the supramolecular interactions between the framework, ClO4 − anions and guest molecules in MOF 2 lead to a high butan-2-one uptake in the channel.

Abstract The molecular and single crystal structure of O,O-diethyl O-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl] phosphorothioate oxalate, as determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies, is described for the first time; although this compound is well-known by industry and research from the mid-20th century. The known decomposition product of pure O,O-diethyl O-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl] phosphorothioate could also be structurally characterized. Additionally, the compounds are characterized by recent analytical methods e.g. NMR. The findings of our study support the thesis that the isolated decomposition product must be a by-product of the thiono-thiolo rearrangement process of the title compound.

The ternary intermetallic title compound, known hitherto as UCu5Sn (uranium pentacopper stannide), crystallizes with the hexagonal CeNi5Sn structure type, and it has been presumed to be a fully stoichiometric phase, devoid of any disorder. However, the present single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies at 120 K, carried out with crystals grown from an Sn flux, suggest the existence of a previously unnoticed phase width of the title compound UCu5−x Sn. All the atoms occupy special positions: U (\overline{6}m2, \overline{3}m.), Sn (3m.) and Cu (.m., 3m., and two positions with \overline{6}m2).
