A town (or city) in a province generates external trips to other towns and cities for various purposes. A cordon origin–destination (O – D) survey shows the origin and destinations of the external trips of a town. An individual external trip distribution model is developed for a town using the cordon O – D survey data. The external trips are recognized as intra provincial trips and therefore the model is called intraprovincial trip distribution model. The data used in this study is taken from cordon O – D surveys done in Alberta. In the formulation of the model, a functional form that uses a linear relationship between the dependent and the independent variables and power transformations on the independent variable is considered. The parameters in the model are obtained by regression analysis. The models are validated by statistical measures and tests. In this paper, an individual model is developed for each of the seven cities and towns chosen for this study. The formulation and development of the model, regression analysis, and validity tests are described in detail. Key words: cordon survey, intraprovincial trips, model, power transformations, regression analysis, trip distribution.

[Poverty is one of the fundamental problems. It has been a major concern of governments in various countries around the world, including Indonesia. In order for poverty alleviation to be effective, it is necessary to know and measured strongly the influence of factors affecting poverty. These factors include human capital and social capital. To measure the contribution of these factors is used regression analysis. The independent variables in this study are binary categorical (1=poor, 0=no) so that regression analysis that can be used is logistic and probit regression analysis. This research uses probit regression to know the influence of social capital and human capital to poverty. In the probit regression analysis, the assumption that must be met is the absence of correlation between the independent variable and error in the model, if it is not fulfilled then the problem will arise called endogeneity which can lead to bias parameter. In this study obtained information that social capital variable is an endogenous variable, so Two Probit Least Square (2PLS) method used to overcome the problem of endogeneity that happened. Based on the results of probit regression using 2PLS method obtained three independent variables that negatively affect the probability of households to be poor, these variables are social capital, school, and age. While the variable size of households positively affects the probability of households being poor in Indonesia.]

Purpose: This study sought to establish the effect of strategic outsourcing approaches on the performance of manufacturing.Methodology: A descriptive survey design was adopted, informed by the relatively small population of the listed manufacturing and allied companies, which doubled as the target population of the study. A structured and closed- ended questionnaire was used to collect primary data, administered by drop and pick a method. Total of (72) strategic managers drawn from the nine manufacturing firms were involved in the study. Data collected was quantitatively scrutinized based on research objectives and presented in form of tables and charts for interpretation. The data was then be analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics supported by the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS), version 22. Regression analysis was done to ascertain the effect of strategic outsourcing approaches on performance. The response rate of the study was 92%.Results and conclusion: The findings of the study showed that strategic professional outsourcing, strategic manufacturing outsourcing, strategic business process outsourcing and strategic project outsourcing have a positive relationship with performance of performance of the manufacturing companies listed at the Nairobi Security Exchange. The results of the regression analysis revealed there is a significant positive relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable. The independent variables reported R-value of .805 indicating that there is a perfect relationship between a dependent variable and independent variables. R square value of 0.647 means that 64.7% of the corresponding variation in performance of manufacturing companies listed at the Nairobi Security Exchange can be explained or predicted by (strategic professional outsourcing, strategic manufacturing outsourcing, strategic business process outsourcing and strategic project outsourcing) which indicated that the model fitted the study data. The results of the regression analysis revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between the dependent variable and independent variable at (β = 0.647), p=0.000 <0.05).Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: Finally, the study commends that manufacturing companies listed at the Nairobi Security Exchange embrace the various strategic outsourcing approaches as a way to improve their performance. Equally, the study recommends similar studies be carried out in other industries across the country and in abroad to ascertain if the same results can be obtained and generalized.

A relationship between human personality and preferred locations have been a long conjecture for human mobility research. In this paper, we analyzed the relationship between personality and visiting place with Poisson Regression. Poisson Regression can analyze correlation between countable dependent variable and independent variable. For this analysis, 33 volunteers provided their personality data and 49 location categories data are used. Raw location data is preprocessed to be normalized into rates of visit and outlier data is prunned. For the regression analysis, independent variables are personality data and dependent variables are preprocessed location data. Several meaningful results are found. For example, persons with high tendency of frequent visiting to university laboratory has personality with high conscientiousness and low openness. As well, other meaningful location categories are presented in this paper.

The aim of this study was to estimate the incidence of seroconversion ofToxocaraspp. infection and related variables. We conducted a cohort study of 77 children aged 2–12 years who had negative serology in a previous cross-sectional study. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed to describe the cohort, using socioeconomic, behavioral, and health conditions as variables. Logistic regression analysis was performed using seroconversion as the dependent variable, and the remaining variables are treated as independent variables. Asthma was the only independent variable that showed an association with seroconversion, with an odds ratio = 3.57 (1.01–12.6). The incidence of seroconversion fromToxocaraspp. infection in the children followed was 10.4 per 100 per year. Previous studies reporting an association of asthma with toxocariasis have only been carried out using cross-sectional studies. Therefore, this study is one of only a few describing the incidence of seroconversion fromToxocaraspp. infection, which is relevant for understanding the burden of this parasite.

ABSTRACTAccounting conservatism is a precautionary principle in reporting financial statements. This principle slows down the recognition of income and accelerates the recognition of costs, resulting in low profits and assets, and high costs and debt. This study aims to analyzing the effect of leverage, financial distress and profitability as independent variable to accounting conservatism in mining companies as dependent variable. The sample of this study used 20 listed companies. This research are using secondary data published by the company and BEI. Methods in this study using multiple regression analysis processed with software Eviews 10. The results showed that independent variables together significantly affect the changes in accounting conservatism. Profitability variables have a negative and significant effect on accounting conservatism of mining companies. Keywords: accounting conservatism, financial distress, leverage, mining, profitability.ABSTRAKKonservatisme akuntansi adalah suatu prinsip kehati-hatian dalam pelaporan laporan keuangan.
