Over the last few years, video assistive apparatus has become available at an accessible price that will allow students who have limited vision to participate almost fully in many laboratory courses at university. This paper presents a survey of the number of legally blind university physics students in Canada for the period 2003 to 2013. It will act as a benchmark to measure the effectiveness, in laboratory courses, of recent legislation mandating the provision of assistive devices in educational institutions. The survey was sent to all 52 physics departments at institutions in Canada that grant physics degrees, with all but one of the departments replying. None knew of any legally blind physicists practising in Canada. The only legally blind physics students reported were one partially sighted student who was awarded a Ph.D. in 2001, and one currently at Trent University. The survey results show that of the 12.5% of blind students who hold university degrees in Canada, very few of them are in physics.

In an effort to study the cognitive mapping abilities of blind persons, tactile maps of a school campus were made by ten congenitally blind and ten blindfolded partially sighted high school students. Although some blind students made well-organized and accurate maps of the campus, most of the maps made by the congenitally blind subjects were poorly organized and integrated as compared with maps made by the blindfolded partially sighted subjects. Blind persons exhibit varying methods for categorizing the elements of a large environment, and the method of cognitive mapping is believed to be related to how well a person can negotiate within the environment.

Abstract THE QUESTION ENVIRONMENT PRESENT IN COURSES OF GEOGRAPHY (LP/B) ON BRAZIL The Brazil has courses of geographyat the modalities Degree Plenas (LP) and baccalaureate (B), distributed in different regions within its territory. Being the Geography of the disciplines working with environmental issues in this analysis seeks to evaluate how this issue is addressed in the formation of Geographer. Thus, the article sought to map the location of 233 educational institutions that offer courses in geography (LP/B) and consider the menu of disciplines, aiming thereby gain an understanding of how the disciplines that work the theme, addressing the issue of environment in Geography courses. Methodologically, the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) was crucial because it allowed locate and make a spatial analysis of all educational institutions. The survey results showed updated as has the issue of the environment, in the curriculum Brazilian.

This study aims to examine the concept of the nature of science (NOS) and attitudes towards teaching the NOS. The research used the View on Science Education (VOSE) instrument that was developed by Chen (valid and reliable) which online distributed to students of Physics Education Program from Surabaya State University and IKIP PGRI Pontianak, as well as students of Science Program from IAIN Ponorogo. The survey research method was conducted to determine the profile of students’ views on the NOS and science education. Respondents who filled out the research questionnaire were 102 students. Based on the survey results, the VOSE profile was obtained that the Science-Physics students had difficulty conceptualizing the general picture of VOSE because in some aspects of NOS it appeared that students experienced confusion.Science-Physics students have a positive attitude towards teaching NOS in terms of tentativeness, aspect of the nature of observation, as well as aspect of theory and law. However, Science-Physics students have negative attitudes towards teaching NOS in the aspect of the scientific method. Thus, the implication of this research requires that Science-Physics students learn and further research about the concept of NOS in order to have a correct understanding.

Subject. Practiced involuntarily to counteract the spread of the coronavirus in educational institutions, online learning turned to be the only effective solution ensuring the sustainable and uninterrupted educational process in the highly uncertain circumstances the world faced. The managerial decision on online learning induces many implications for everyone involved into the educational process and the educational system. Thus, it can be undertaken again in similar situations in the future. So, we need to have the profound understanding of the mechanism. Objectives. We study what students think about their educational process when they have to learn remotely. Therefore, we identify strengths and weaknesses of online learning. Methods. The methodological framework relies upon proceedings on remote learning and the impact of the digitalization on the educational process. The study involves methods of generalization, comparative analysis, sociological survey. Results. As the sociological survey reveals, students tend to new formats of learning during the pandemic. This is due to a lack of personal communication with teachers and their classmates. Conclusions and Relevance. Referring to most of the respondents, we conclude that the new form of learning proved to be rather effective in the current situation when people have to work and learn remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.
