The taxonomy and ecology of the fungal genus Bombardioidea (Ascomycotina, Lasiosphaeriaceae) are discussed. Descriptions and illustrations are provided for the four accepted species: Bombardioidea anartia n.sp., Bombardioidea bombardioides, Bombardioidea serignanensis, and Bombardioidea stercoris. Observations from axenic culture are provided for B. bombardioides, and an Angulimaya (Phialophora-like) anamorph is reported. The coriaceous and gelatinous aspects of the peridium are considered to be adaptations to xerophytic environments. Key words: Bombardioidea, Angulimaya, Phialophora, coprophilous, ecology, taxonomy.

The surfaces of Psilotum gametophytes from soil and axenic culture were examined with electron microscopy and histochemistry. A lipid layer, which gave a positive reaction for all lipid stains employed, covers the surface of these gametophytes. In apical regions the lipid coating is almost as thick as the wall it coats. The wall was not stained with lipid stains but did stain for polysaccharides, cellulose, pectin, and polyphenols materials. The surface of gemmae from gametophytes grown in axenic culture was examined with electron microscopy. In young areas the lipid was amorphous, but it had a lamellate outer area in older regions of the gemmae. The surface of Psilotum gametophytes range from white in the apical region to dark brown in older areas. The browning of the surface resulted from the incorporation of tanniniferous materials into the surface wall of the older region. The cuticle along with the tanniniferous materials in the wall make the surface of these subterranean gametophytes resistant to decay and may protect them from certain biota in the soil. The cuticle may help these long-lived gametophytes to withstand any periodic drying of the soil. Key words: Psilotum, gametophyte, cuticle.

The taxonomy and phylogenetic relationships of the fungal genus Fimetariella (Ascomycotina, Lasiosphaeriaceae) are discussed. A revised generic description and key are presented. Descriptions and illustrations are provided for all taxa. Fimetariella dunarum n.comb. and Fimetariella apotoma, Fimetariella brachycaulina, Fimetariella dolichopoda, Fimetariella macromischa, Fimetariella microsperma, and Fimetariella tetraspora n.spp. are proposed. A phialidic anamorph resembling Cladorrhinum is reported for F. microsperma. The ascospores of the type species Fimetariella rabenhorstii are considered to possess two terminal germ pores, one large pore and one very small pore, along with several small, apparently nonfunctional pores. Podosordaria venezuelensis (Ascomycotina, Xylariaceae) is described and illustrated. It is characterized by the long-stalked, glabrous stromata, ascospore shape and size, and germ slit length, differing from morphologically similar taxa in spore morphology and distribution. A key to all currently accepted species of this fungal genus is provided. Key words: Podosordaria, Xylariaceae, coprophilous, taxonomy, Venezuela.

Ninety-six species of ectomycorrhizal fungi from 30 genera were grown on modified Melin–Norkrans agar where the carbon (glucose) or nitrogen (ammonium phosphate dibasic) supply was replaced by cellulose, lignin, pectin, lipid, amylose, gelatin, casamino acids, or urea. Ectomycorrhizal fungi did not appreciably degrade cellulose, lignin, or pectin. The remaining compounds were broken down by representatives of certain taxonomic groups. Lipase was produced by Amanita species, amylase by species of Amanita and Cortinarius, gelatinase by Piloderma, Thelephora, species of Lactarius section Dapetes, and some species of both Amanita and Cortinarius. Casamino acids were degraded by Laccaria, Hebeloma, and some Tricholoma species. Urease was detected in species of Hebeloma and Laccaria. The ability to enzymatically degrade selected carbon and nitrogen compounds have potential as taxonomic characters for the identification of isolates of ectomycorrhizal fungi. The significance of these results are also discussed in relation to the ecology of these fungi. Key words: ectomycorrhizal fungi, enzyme activity, cultures, identification, systematics.

Allantomyces caenidarum sp.nov., a trichomycete fungus that lives in the hindgut of Tasmanocoenis sp. (Caenidae) mayfly nymphs in southwestern Western Australian streams, is described. In addition to normal trichospores and zygospores that serve to reinfest other nymphs, A. caenidarum also produces what may be modified trichospores that serve to increase gut infestation endogenously. The same species of mayfly also harbored a new species, Legeriomyces raus, which belongs to a genus previously known only from North America and Europe. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the digestive tract (1%). These tumors express the CD 117 in 95% of cases. The stomach is the preferential localization (70%). Diagnosis is difficult and sometimes late. Progress of imaging has greatly improved the management and the prognosis. Computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard for diagnosis, staging, and treatment follow-up. The increasing recognition of GIST’s histopathology and the prolonged survival revealed some suggestive imaging aspects. Key words: gastro-intestinal stromal tumors; computed tomography; diagnosis

This article aims at describing the obseroance of wasiat wajibah (compulsory bequeathment) in the Islamic court of Banten, analyzing the provision of the substitute heir and adopted children in the Compilation of  Islamic Law (KHI). In addition, the ideal laws to manage the innheritance rules in Indonesia. This article is library research by using doctrinal approach and using case study and survey methods. The data was, then, analyzed by using analytical descriptive and analytical correlative methods. The result showed that the observance of wasiat wajibah in the Islamic court of  Banten employed by judges is by using the Mawali Hazairin’s Doctrine. Five phosphorus rates (0, 5, 10, 20 and 30 kg P/ha) were tested with four rice genotypes in Boro (BRRI dhan36, BRRI dhan45, EH1 and EH2) and T. Aman (BRRI dhan30, BRRI dhan49, EH1 and EH2) season. Phosphorus rates did not influence grain yield irrespective of varieties in T. Aman season while in Boro season P response was observed among the P rates. Application of P @ 10 kg/ha significantly increased the grain yield. But when P was applied @ 20 and 30 kg P/ha, the grain yield difference was not significant. The optimum and economic rate of P for T. Aman was 20 kg P/ha but in Boro rice the optimum and economic doses of P were 22 and 30 kg/ha, respectively. Hybrid entries (EH1 and EH2) used P more efficiently than inbred varieties. A negative P balance was observed up to 10 kg P/ha.
