AbstractShoot proliferation is a very important micropropagation phase, decisive for economic efficiency of this method for a given taxon. To obtain a high multiplication ratio and a good quality of microshoots a detailed propagation protocol must be developed for particular species or even cultivars. Rhododendron ‘Kazimierz Odnowiciel’ is a relatively new cultivar distinguished by large, beautiful flowers and high frost resistance so there is a need to develop an efficient method of its propagation to satisfy a growing demand for this plant. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate effects of cytokinins: meta-Topolin (mT), zeatin (ZEA), 6-benzyladenine (BA), thidiazuron (TDZ), 2-isopentenyladenine (2iP), or the combination of 2iP+ZEA on proliferation of shoots in R. ‘Kazimierz Odnowiciel’ cultured on Anderson’s medium (AN). Biochemical changes in plant material affected by cytokinins during this phase of micropropagation were determined and occurrence of genetical changes was followed using ISSR markers. TDZ, ZEA or the combination of ZEA+2iP resulted in 100% explant regeneration. On the medium with TDZ or ZEA over two new shoots per explant were produced but the highest proliferation was attained on the medium containing ZEA+2iP – over three shoots per explant. Microshoots developed in this treatment had also the highest contents of chlorophyll, carotenoids and soluble sugars as well as the highest catalase activity. Microshoots formed on the medium with zeatin showed the lowest polymorphism (below 4%) relative to a stock plant.

We have developed a microwave protocol for a paraffin-embedding microtechnique of the shoot apical meristem of Zea mays and have successfully applied this protocol to other plant tissues. This protocol decreases the time required for all aspects of microtechnique tissue processing, including fixation (24 hr to 15 min), dehydration (73 hr to 10 min), and infiltration (96 hr to 3 hr). Additionally, the time required to adhere paraffin ribbons to gelatin-coated slides and for the Johanson's safranin O, fast green FCF staining protocol has been significantly decreased. Using this technique, the quality of tissue preservation and subsequent in situ localization of knotted mRNA was increased by using microwaves.

This paper presents an efficient method for video super-resolution (SR) based on two main ideals: Firstly, input video frames can be separated into two components, nontexturing image and texturing image. Then each component image is applied to a compatible interpolation method to improve the quality of high-resolution (HR) reconstructed frame. Secondly, based on the approach that border regions of image details are the most lossy information regions from the sampling process. Therefore, a task of compensation interpolation is essential to increase the quality of the reconstructed HR images. From these discussions, we proposed an efficient method for video SR by combining the spatial interpolation in different texturing regions and the sampling compensation interpolation to improve the quality of video super-resolution. Our results shown that, the quality of HR frames, reconstructed by the proposed method, is better than that of other methods, , and in recently. The significant contribution is the low complexity of the proposed method. Hence, it is possible to apply the proposed algorithm to real-time video super-resolution applications.

The aim of this study was to eliminate the effect of Poisson noise in scintigrams with a wavelet thresholding method. We developed a new noise reduction method with a wavelet transform. The proposed method was a combination of the translation-invariant denoising method and our newly introduced denoising filter which was applicable for Poisson noise. To evaluate the validity of our proposed method, phantom images and scintigrams were used. The results with the phantom images showed that our method was better than conventional methods in terms of the peak signal-to-noise ratio by 3 dB. Quality of the scintigrams processed with our method was better than that with the conventional methods in terms of reducing Poisson noise while preserving edge components. The results demonstrated that the proposed method was effective for the reduction of Poisson noise in scintigrams.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a telecommunications technology that is able to pass the communication service in Internet Protocol networks so as to allow communicating between users in an IP network. However VoIP technology still has weakness in the Quality of Service (QoS). VOPI weaknesses is affected by the selection of the physical servers used. In this research, VoIP is configured on Linux operating system with Asterisk as VoIP application server and integrated on a Raspberry Pi by using wired and wireless network as the transmission medium. Because of depletion of IPv4 capacity that can be used on the network, it needs to be applied to VoIP system using the IPv6 network protocol with supports devices. The test results by using a wired transmission medium that has obtained are the average delay is 117.851 ms, jitter is 5.796 ms, packet loss is 0.38%, throughput is 962.861 kbps, 8.33% of CPU usage and 59.33% of memory usage. The analysis shows that the wired transmission media is better than the wireless transmission media and wireless-wired.
