Although there are many teaching styles in higher education, they can usually be reduced to two: the traditional, on campus attendance, lecturing, student-passive style and the newer, distance education, self-paced, student-active style. It is the contention of this paper, illustrated by two case studies of one Spanish and one Australian university, that the differences in technology seem to have evolved due to these different teaching styles. On the other hand, both institutions seem to be in the same stage of technological implementation, although the technological product appears different. A discussion is provided to consider the interaction effects in practice, teaching styles and institutional adoption stage on web based technologies in these two universities.

E-democracy concept can enhance Egyptian participation in rule and it can move e-the Egyptian government to a new era. E-democracy concept can be applied in conjunction with database connection to transfer Egyptian e-government to transformation stage. This Paper concentrates mainly on designing an e-democracy framework using two case studies in e-government systems .As we will see system is web based application based .There are some figures that describe system architecture then each component well be explained. The framework technical aspects, analysis and objectives in establishing integrated e-government will be discussed.

This article reviews the development of three Web-based education resources and the potential for each of these resources to meet the needs of users for a 'killer app'. Three case studies (the Annotated List of Education Journals, the IDEAS Portal Web Site and the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse Web Site)review the purpose, audience, content, funding, publicity and structure of the sites. Differences in staffing, funding and the centrality of these sites to the mission of their sponsoring institutions impacted the growth of these sites. Technological changes and the diffuse nature of the Internet also impacted the development of these resources.

We examine the process of developing web-based case studies, a novel form of professional learning for principals, specifically related to inclusive school leadership. Based on the input from 39 principals, 5 case studies were developed with branching scenarios that provided multiple options for decision-making. These “choose your own adventure” case studies were used in a special education for school administrators course with 109 participants in Ontario, Canada. We consider the authenticity of the cases, the importance of incorporating multiple perspectives, and issues related to function, form, and choice. We incorporate five lessons for developing web-based case studies.

The traditional published case studies have been successfully used in marketing education for decades. However, recent changes in marketing practice, prompted by disruptive changes in the marketplace, highlight their shortcomings as an educational instrument. To remain relevant and deliver the desired learning outcomes, new or modified approaches to case-study teaching might be necessary. This chapter is structured as follows: first, the changes in business environment and their impact on marketing education is discussed. Second, the advantages and shortcomings of the traditional published case study as an educational instrument in marketing are presented. Third, new approaches to case study are critically evaluated. These are live case, participative case writing, and web-based cases.

PurposeThe purpose of the paper is to discuss the scope for improving the delivery of FM services through the use of wireless web‐based communications infrastructure, delivered via an application service provider (ASP) business model. This paper discusses the findings from case studies of three organisations and their approach to the management of facilities.Design/methodology/approachAn investigation was undertaken to ascertain the current state of play in terms of managing and tracking processes within the facilities management department of three different organisations. These case studies were chosen from distinct sectors, namely health care, higher education, and banking. Emphasis is placed on analysing how the organisations currently operate with their existing FM systems and the degree of influence technology has on existing processes. This was considered mainly in terms of computer‐aided facilities management (CAFM) and computer‐integrated facilities management (CIFM).FindingsThe study found that a new wireless web‐based service for FM systems would be considered useful. Although notoriously slow adopters of new technology, there was an acceptance by the facilities managers interviewed that a wireless web‐based approach would improve current practice, especially with respect to real‐time job reporting and tracking and in the determination of FM operative working time utilisation.Practical implicationsFurther work by the author is focusing on the development of a suitable demonstrator to illustrate the key concepts of a wireless web‐based FM service which will then be tested and evaluated. Abstract We present Vision, a tool for annotating the sources of variation in single cell RNA-seq data in an automated and scalable manner. Vision operates directly on the manifold of cell-cell similarity and employs a flexible annotation approach that can operate either with or without preconceived stratification of the cells into groups or along a continuum. We demonstrate the utility of Vision in several case studies and show that it can derive important sources of cellular variation and link them to experimental meta-data even with relatively homogeneous sets of cells. Vision produces an interactive, low latency and feature rich web-based report that can be easily shared among researchers, thus facilitating data dissemination and collaboration.

The Internet has become thoroughly embedded into most aspects of modern life, and no one is more plugged-in than the youngest generations. With the aim of utilising the omnipresence of the digital space to therapeutic ends, this article examines the application of online storymaking interventions with adolescents. The young people discussed are quite isolated and high-need; they have self-excluded from mainstream school and are now pursuing education in an alternative online provision, where they also have access to therapy. Following an overview of the current literature on web-based therapies, this article offers two illustrative case studies in which a story-based dramatherapy intervention was delivered online. This will include an evaluation of the therapeutic work from the case studies using the BASIC Ph assessment method, as well as a broader discussion on the experience of working as a therapist online.
