A mixture of positive and negative static charges exists in the same plane on an insulator surface, and this can cause production quality problems at manufacturing sites. This study developed a system with a vibration array sensor to rapidly measure the surface potential distribution of an object in a non-contact and non-destructive manner and with a high spatial resolution of 1 mm. The measurement accuracy differed greatly depending on the scanning speed of the array sensor, and an optimum scanning speed of 10 mm/s enabled rapid measurements (within <3 s) of the surface potential distribution of a charged insulator (area of 30 mm × 30 mm) with an accuracy of 15%. The relationship between charge and dust on the surface was clarified to easily visualize the uneven static charges present on it and thereby eliminate static electricity.

this study investigates the relationship between acoustic patterns in contemporary electroacoustic compositions, and listeners' real-time perceptions of their structure and affective content. Thirty-two participants varying in musical expertise (nonmusicians, classical musicians, expert computer musicians) continuously rated the affect (arousal and valence) and structure (change in sound) they perceived in four compositions of approximately three minutes duration. Time series analyses tested the hypotheses that sound intensity influences listener perceptions of structure and arousal, and spectral flatness influences perceptions of structure and valence. Results suggest that intensity strongly influences perceived change in sound, and to a lesser extent listener perceptions of arousal. Spectral flatness measures were only weakly related to listener perceptions, and valence was not strongly shaped by either acoustic measure. Differences in response by composition and musical expertise suggest that, particularly with respect to the perception of valence, individual experience (familiarity and liking), and meaningful sound associations mediate perception.

This paper presents an analysis of the relationship of particle velocity and convergence of the particle swarm optimization. Its premature convergence is due to the decrease of particle velocity in search space that leads to a total implosion and ultimately fitness stagnation of the swarm. An improved algorithm which introduces a velocity differential evolution (DE) strategy for the hierarchical particle swarm optimization (H-PSO) is proposed to improve its performance. The DE is employed to regulate the particle velocity rather than the traditional particle position in case that the optimal result has not improved after several iterations. The benchmark functions will be illustrated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

With the increasing demand for renewable energy in the world, research contributing to the improvement of the technology level of wave power generation is essential. The authors have been developed a wave power generation system using port facilities in inner bays with high energy-consuming cities. In this study, the relationship between the rotational characteristics of a Savonius water turbine and the water particle velocity was quantitatively evaluated under the calm conditions of the inner bay, such as wave motion, flow, and coexistence of wave and current. According to the experimental results, it is found that the relationship between the rotational circumferential speed and the water particle velocity of the water turbine installed in a wave field tends to be different from that in a flow field and is evaluated by different equations. In addition, the relationship between circumferential velocity and the water particle velocity has also been formulated when installed in a wave-current coexistence field.Recorded Presentation from the vICCE (YouTube Link): https://youtu.be/KX0XBFuao48

The measuring accuracy of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is influenced by many factors, such as temperature, humidity, measuring force and method of signal acquisition. For thin parts, the influence of measuring force is especially obvious. In this paper, the relationship between measuring force and measurement accuracy is studied for a thin part with a U-shaped cross-section. By analyzing the structure of the probe and establishing the force model, the influencing factors of the accuracy of CMM are obtained, and the influence of the contact deformation and the bending deformation on the measurement accuracy is analyzed from the point of view of material mechanics. At the same time, the measurement accuracy of different measuring cross-sections is analyzed. Through the research of this paper, the relationship between measuring force and CMM is established, and an effective method to improve the accuracy of CMM is also found.

Water-entry signal was important to broadcast the water-entry object. The vector sensor could gain the pressure and particle velocity signal, so the azimuth angle of water-entry signal could be estimated by single vector sensor. The complex sound intensity method was applied in vector signal processing in azimuth estimation. The estimated deviation in different SNR was give out via simulating experiment. The method was used in the experiment on the lake and was proved to be effective.

In this paper, the relationship between direct measurement of X-ray pulsar angular position and second-order correlation is analyzed by classical statistical optics. On this basis, a scheme for measuring pulsar angle position is put forward on account of X-ray band intensity correlation, which is expected to achieve a positioning accuracy of 10 Mas. Finally, the connection between positioning accuracy and complex correlation in the intensity correlation measurement is studied. Also, main factors that affected the measurement are analyzed.

NDIR is one of SO2 concentration measurement methods. SO2 concentration can be figured out through measuring the infrared light intensity changing. The light intensity can be attenuated by the particles, so the SO2 concentration is increased. To solve the particles interference, the multidispersion particles interference mechanism is established. Particles characteristic parameters which interferes the SO2 concentration include the dissipativity, concentration, average size and size distribution parameters. Simulation results give the relationship between the SO2 concentration and particles characteristic parameters. The method to reduce the interference of the SO2 concentration is brought out and the measurement accuracy can be improved.

This paper adopted the photoelectric micro measurement system based on CCD which was independently developed by Laboratory of Process Automatic and Detection Harbin Institute of Technology to detect dimension of the small precise parts. Under the various focusing status, it was discovered that articulation of focusing has huge effect on the measurement of measurand. According to the characteristics of measurand, we adopted the entropy function as the evaluation function of automatic focusing, developed a special software to process entropy value of the picked images, and obtained the relationship of focusing evaluation function and measurement error through a large number of experiments. The experimental result effectively verified the effect of articulation of focusing on dimension measurement.
