The Mathematical Model

In this paper a kinetic study is performed on the drying process of beet pulp with additions of macro-elements (Ca2+, Mg 2+, PO42+) from hydrated lime, hydrated dolomite lime, phosphoric acid and microelements (Co2+, Zn 2+, Fe2+, Mn2+), with the purpose of obtaining premixes with substantially improved value for animal feed. The experimental measurements made served to elaborate the mathematical model by means of which the speed with which the drying process is carried out is described, thus being able to calculate the stationing time of the material in the dryer. The equations for calculating the stationary time of the material in the dryer can be used for designing dryers (sizing them).

A biofilm is a layer of microorganisms attached to a surface and protected by a matrix of exopolysaccharides. Biofilm structures difficult the removal of microorganisms, thus the study of the type of structures formed throughout a biofilm life cycle is key to design elimination techniques. Also, the study of the inner mechanisms of a biofilm system is of the utmost importance in order to prevent harmful biofilms formation and enhance the properties of beneficial biofilms. This study must be achieved through the combination of mathematical modelling and experimental studies. Our work focuses on the study of biofilms formed by Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen bacteria, specially relevant in food industry. Listeria is highly resistant to biocides and appears in common food surfaces even after decontamination processes. Their biofilms can develop quite different structures, from flat biofilms to clustered or honeycomb structures. In the present work, we develop 1D and 2D models that simulate the dynamics of biofilms formed by different strains of L. monocytogenes. All this models are solved with efficient numerical methods and robust numerical techniques, such as the Level Set method. The numerical re sults are compared with the experimental measurements obtained in the Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas, CSIC (Vigo, Spain), and the Micalis Institute, INRA (Massy, France).

Propeller shafts of the vehicle's drive transmit a torque to relatively large distances. The shafts are basically long and slender and must be dimensioned not only in terms of torsional stress, but it is also necessary to monitor their resistance to lateral vibration.In the paper, a simple model (of the solved problem) is constructed by the method of physical discretization, which is evident from the nature of the centrifugal force fields' influence on the spectral properties of the shaft. An analytical solving of speed resonances prop shafts test model (whose aim is to obtain values for verification subsequently processed models based on the transfer-matrix method and the finite element method) is performed.

The correlations between the electronic spectral properties of the title azo compounds and organic solvent parameters have been analysed also, their electronic transition energies have been calculated, using a semi empirical approach and the results were compared with the experimental measurements.

This paper introduces modeling and simulation of the noise properties of the blue-violet InGaN laser diodes. The noise is described in terms of the spectral properties of the relative intensity noise (RIN). We examine the validity of the present noise modeling by comparing the simulated results with the experimental measurements available in literature. We also compare the obtained noise results with those of AlGaAs lasers. Also, we examine the influence of gain suppression on the quantum RIN. In addition, we examine the changes in the RIN level when describing the gain suppression by the case of inhomogeneous spectral broadening. The results show that RIN of the InGaN laser is nearly 9 dB higher than that of the AlGaAs laser.
